This is a much better sequel to Anaconda than the second movie of the Lake Placid . I'm watching both franchises in parallel alternating between each of the sequels. Where Lake Placid 2 has gone into the B-movie territory with it's second instalment, Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid seems to be a better instalment than the original classic. The cast consists of a good combination of known actors supported by newcomers (at least back in 2004 they were). The story is interesting, while the CGI looks better than the first Anaconda movie.
"What so you're tellin' me there's some snake orgy going on in the jungle?"
All the praise about the animatronics from my last review - you can get rid of that for this review. They are in a less cooler location for this one and there is a lot more comedy and bad CGI too. Oh well.
Absolutely abysmal. A third rate movie with fourth rate actors and with literally no redeeming factors.
Watch it! It’s definitely going to entertain those that want to watch creature features. As long as they don’t have Ophidiophobia, of course. I haven’t seen the first one in a few years, but I don’t think this movie builds upon the first, so no need to watch each in order of release. Anyone who liked the first will be thankful for the improved CGI and that the acting and characters are on par . There are gigantic holes in the plot; however, if you just relax and flow with the film it’s, in my opinion, better than the first.
"Truly a B-movie. Utterly unremarkable. A group sets out to find a flower that grants eternal life, but instead, they are hunted by bugs and giant anacondas. While Borneo has rich biodiversity, it doesn't have anacondas. It's just a movie, but still. I rate it 1 out of 10."
I was surprised by the quality of the first one, where is expected a mediocre movie I got a respectable motion picture for the genre and the time, but this one, oh my god, even worse than what I expected the original one to be.
Except in some rare precious moments, the acting is terrible, very very bad, it's like the actors could not imagine themselves in the jungle with huge snake around them...
While their explanation about the size of the anacondas is OK, the concept of the flower blooming every 7 years doesn't make sense. If the orchid actually blooms every 7 years, they would make seeds which would probably start their cycle with one or more years of delay...
Plus they said they just discovered a sample of the flower at the start od the movie, but they knows exactly with no place for doubt when the flower is gone...
In a word, weak, easy plot, and no emotion.
L'anaconda è un animale che vive in America, non in Asia. Film molto mediocre.
