And Then I Go 2017

A grim, dark and overtly honest portrayal of the seemingly mundane and trivial bullying that can lead normal people to do horrific things. If you can deal with the slow pace and dark subject material, And Then I Go is definitely worth at least one late night viewing.

It's easy to judge those kids who are responsible for school gun shootings in America. We point to the violent video games they play and the movies they watch, and factor them in as we villify the kids for their actions. But what we don't do is take into account that they are invariably always loners, probably as a result of the constant hell of high school bullying. We don't question the mental health problems that must also be a factor. And we forget about the one major problem America has - that guns are easily available. While I would never condone the actions of those who commit violence, and while I appreciate other factors do come into play behind the shootings in America, I do think more needs to be done to reduce bullying, to help those who are suffering mentally, and to remove guns off the street. This movie highlights this to a degree, being a reasonably well-rounded look at the people behind the crimes. A sad and blistering tale, and a timely reminder to pay more attention to the problems inherent in our society.
