Sort of noir-ish, but without the twists and turns (and darkness) found in earlier examples. This one has some odd editing choices that muddle the narrative slightly, but it's a fun movie thanks largely to Mitchum and Simmons. Always love a downbeat ending, especially in movies of the era where it tends to be rare.
