This “version” of Assault on Precinct 13 is certainly not as good as the original, but I'm pretty sure if this had some other title, it would have done quite well for itself. There's tension, there's action, there's great chemistry among the leads, there's great atmosphere, and there are even some sexiness thanks to Drea de Matteo.

I like it enough to rewatch it from time to time. I actually rewatch it more than the original now that I think about it. Assault on Precinct 13 (2005) is a decent enough action thriller, and worth the time investment in my book.

Mediocre action flick that has nothing special to offer.

Terrible writing and cinematography aside, the aggressive and completely unnecessary sexualisation of the only two female characters in this movie made me feel like an SJW for the first time in my life.

Like passing along a Jesus pic, this is a Carpenter regifted.

The whole film was a little bit better than the original except the ending, where they dropped everything and lost it all.

Thrilling and action-packed, Assault on Precinct 13 is a well-crafted and smart remake of the John Carpenter classic. When a prison transport is diverted on New Year’s Eve to a shutdown police station that’s short-staffed, a group of corrupt cops lay siege to the building in order to kill a Detroit crime lord that was on the transport. Ethan Hawke, Laurence Fishburne, and Gabriel Byrne form a strong cast and give great performances. Additionally, the action scenes are incredibly well-shot, and bring a lot of intensity and energy to the film. Exciting and adrenaline filled, Assault on Precinct 13 is an explosive crime thriller.

This flick was pure cheese. I can't believe Ebert gave it a B. How in the heck did they get Fish to do this? My favorite part has to be the final chase scene where they wreck the vehicle and then all of a sudden they are in this large forest. Having grown up in Detroit my whole life, I had to laugh out loud. A forest--downtown HA! What do they think we have Central Park? It just culminated the cheese factor.
