This is a monster party. The Earth-as-hunting-ground premise is pretty original. No, there's not a lot of character development but this is a damned space aliens movie, so what's the difference? In other words, who cares.
The quick cut editing gets a little annoying but this is all about crazy monster vs. monster action. I watched this years ago but I enjoyed it more this time.
I love me some AVP. Wish there were more than 2 movies.
I don't understand all the hate towards this movie, it's not a masterpiece, but still better than the most MCU movies
None of the predators stay invisible or hunt discreetly while fighting aliens like they do for humans.
Not sure why this movie gets so much flack. It feels like a perfect middle ground between two fundamentally different franchises. It balances the hunting of the predators, and the overwhelming anxiousness of the aliens. It’s got good action, good gore, a decent enough plot, and sets the premise for more. While it will never be the greatest movie of either franchise, it is damn enjoyable!
Rating: 4.5/5 - 9/10 - Highly Recommend
Cannot resist a Sanaa Lathan movie... and this one is a plus with Aliens and Predators. Can't refuse.
The first installmen in the AVP franchische hit the the theaters in 2003 and 3 and was produced and directed by Paul W Anderson "Resident Evil".
Although i think there could have been more story telling and some more lore in the franchise, this movie holds its own. The movie has some nice character moments. Nice visuall effects. It also adds some combined history for both the Aliens and the Predators, And also has some interaction between Human and Predator Hunters, And last but not least, It also features Lance Henriksen, Fan favorite of the ("Alien Franchische"), this time as Charles Weyland of weyland industries.
The Artic setting and the mayan temple where nicely constructed, as a fan of the AVP games franchise i really enjoyed watching this movie. The downside however i found the action pretty predictable at times.
Also besides Weyland and Alexa Woods, the film was filled with minor characters who didn't have the viewer rooting for them.
The first installment isn't that great but its not that bad either, And despite the negativity that surrounds these franchises don't forget the still did turn up a decent profit for the respective studios, Whilst im glad the respective franchises did go their own seperate ways again. Im Curious to see whats in store for the future of these movies.
For those that haven't watched it. i would definetly recomend watching the first AVP.
Still one of my favourite movies! Watched it when I was younger and it made such a huge impact. Loving it today, still.
Can’t believe I forgot how cool this movie was.
"This pyramid, it's like a prison."
There are some things that are pretty bad in this movie, but there are some super cool scenes as well. We get to see some Predator weapons being used on Xenomorphs which is what we are watching this movie for, right? The third act is the weakest part for me and I think if it was different, people would've enjoyed this more.
Finally got around to watching this crossover between the two titular characters. It's pretty good!
I'm not someone who has a keen interest in either franchise, though. I'm kinda surprised both have as many flicks made as they do and as many still on the way. I admittedly I do like all of the 'Alien' films, whereas I found 'Predator' to be rather uninteresting - until 'Prey' anyway, that's the only one from that series that I'd say I like.
With all that, I wasn't too sure what to expect from 'AVP: Alien vs. Predator' - a movie that I've actually heard of since I was a kid, I remember people at my school referring to it quite often; I probably knew of this before I knew that they were a crossover from separate releases. Pleasingly, i did find the required enjoyment from this 2004 movie.
None of the cast are particularly outstanding, though all work really nicely as a whole. Sanaa Lathan gives a good showing as the main human character, in what is my first real experience of seeing her onscreen. Same can be said for most of the acting talent, with only Ewen Bremner being someone I could say I recognised; and Lance Henriksen, only after thoroughly racking my brain from the original 'Alien' films though.
That final scene leaves good intrigue ahead of the sequel. After viewing that, I can finally say I've seen all of this most abundant franchise. No mean feat, eh? At least there aren't any more coming any time soo... Alien: Romulus releases in two days ffs.
Two iconic horror movie franchises coning together .. yes pls!
I found this movie to be stupid, silly and ridiculous, but that’s what it’s meant to be and I loved every minute of it!
The predators hairography .. brilliant! Werq mama
This movie is iconic. I remember watching this on DVD for the first time as a teenager and it basically was my introduction to both franchises. The Alien looks amazing here and the fight between it and the Predator are just fun to watch. Also I really like the setting and atmosphere of the movie.
zzzz zzzz boring zzzzzz

The first alien movie I’ve seen in college.
Thoroughly mediocre. I can see it being fun for a lot of people but for me it was more bland than anyone else. Henricksen was great as ever, and there's potential in the human Predator partnership, but he's not in enough of it and that comes too late for either of those things to truly bloom. It doesn't really capture the best of either franchise or bring something new by combining them. But the effects and some of the fights are decent enough.
The long awaited crossover event final goes down in AVP: Alien vs. Predator. Adapted from the comic series, industrialist Charles Weyland discovers a pyramid buried deep within the ice of Antarctica and puts together an expedition team, but they find more then they bargain for and end up in a fight for survival. At its core this is a creature feature, and it delivers a lot of fun, exciting action and Alien/Predator fights. It doesn’t have much of a story or captivating characters, but AVP: Alien vs. Predator is entertaining and full of thrills.
Infinitely better then all the predators combined.
Sniffily overlooked due to its B-movie monster mash-up status, AVP is surprisingly good. The plot (almost) makes the meeting of these two monsters plausible, there are some genuinely funny moments of black humour and the Alien on Predator action (when it comes) is everything you'd want it to be. And (be honest now) it makes WAY more sense than the lamentable "Prometheus".
Look it's not a good movie but it has its moments. Some of the fight scenes are really great, if only they would of gotten to them sooner. I watched this a ton as a kid and have some serious nostalgia for it.
I love all things Aliens and Predator... This movie had its flaws but is still better than most scifi flicks that drop today....cut the lead chick out of this movie and it's even better... She's no Machiko
Not sure how this would have made a good movie.
AVP is a fun watch, a fast pacing action flick and features 2 of the best film monsters ever created. Although it never reaches the level of the "other" Alien movies I would still recommend this flick. The only thing I missed are the horror elements of the Alien movies and I was a little disappointed not to see the aliens more often...
This movie is about honor and respect the low score is probably due to visual judgement. The Preditors would be the Japanese under the Hirogen.
I agree a Good movie!
Good movie!

AVP UNRATED VERSION
Team-Predator all the way. This is a really good crossover and having Charles Bishop
in their adds so much to it's credibility.
Alexa made a great leading Lady and I thought she was awesome in the role, she was such a badass
but very likable along with it.
Ha Maxwell from the resident evil franchise made me laugh because he got hit with a net/grid in that one
also and died.
He doesn't have much luck at all when it comes to square projectiles coming at him.
Loved the "PRALIEN"
at the end, it looked frickin Awesome.
