I’m pretty sure that this movie served as an inspiration for many of the GTA games, especially when you look at the yellow and orange soaked hues of everything that takes place during the day.
That’s pretty much the biggest compliment I can give this film, because the directing and editing are shit, the comedy is godawful, the music is obnoxious, the acting sucks, the racial stereotyping is annoying and unfunny, and everything is really predictable and cliche. In short: it’s full of Michael Bay’s lowbrow, overly commercial and at times pornographic sensibilities.
3/10
The only reason I give this 2 stars is that I've watched Bad boys 2 and it's worse.
Forgot how actually good BB and BB2 were. The interaction between Smith and Lawrence is timeless good. And the limits in CGI back in time made those Michael Bay movies better cos of the missing lens flares. Oldskool action. Love it.

It has good gags and a beautiful Téa Leoni
I'm here for Tea Leoni
Everything you could want from an action film, and as a special bonus Bay manages to restrain himself by only being 'a bit rapey' on a couple of occasions.
Bad Boys is one of the best Michael Bay movies. Due to a great score, fine over the top Bay action, good chemistry between the three leads. As well as the film actually having a plot.
More of a plot than most Bay movies anyway. Lawrence pretending to be the Will Smith character. Is quite fun and funny. This is one of my favorite 90’s action films and buddy cop films.
When watching Bad Boys again lately I thought it less funny than I had in mind from seeing the flick at the cinema when it was released. There is "that certain something" missing. But it's entertaining none the less!
Full of loud, bombastic action, Bad Boys is a high-octane thrill ride from Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer. The story couldn’t be more formulaic; drug smugglers, buddy cops, call girls, the film practically writes itself. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have some chemistry together, but their performances aren’t very good. What drives this film is Bay’s stylized directing; which keeps everything fast paced and intense. The action scenes are especially well shot and overwhelm everything else, which makes up for the poor storytelling and lackluster performances. Bad Boys isn’t great cinema, but it’s fun, action packed entertainment that delivers what it promises.
Instant hit, simply from the casting alone. Such a typical 90s style comedy that you can't help roll your eyes at for how cliché the script is. Even though it's predictable, for it's time it really made its mark by the iconic soundtrack, edgy jokes, and crazy stunts. Michael Bay in and out, without a doubt. The slow-mo shots had me giggling more than the jokes at times, and it wouldn't be the same without them. Yes, there's better buddy cop movies out there, but Will Smith and Martin Lawrence go off each other like true bad boys. insert theme tune
Bad Boys is an awful movie. It could have been a good action movie, but the obscene amount of bad language ruined it for me. This movie has way more than 100 bad words in it. It's absolutely disgusting to listen to. Bad language ruins movies!
Not sure why so many negative reviews. I think this is a great action flick for a good mindless escape. I think it’s a lot of fun,
"I don't know why you going home to your wife. You got shot in the leg, your dick probably don't even work."
Bad Boys is still one hell of an entertaining Buddy Cop movie. I still enjoy the chemistry between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, Téa Leoni is one hell of a baddie, Tchéky Karyo does her job well and we get it all wrapped in perfect Bayhem.
Solid, solid stuff!
Michael Bay films are like fast food: Cheap, easy to make, enjoyable, but no real talent went into it.
And that's the interesting thing about Bay that separates him from other terrible directors. It's got a huge budget, it makes a lot of money and people will see it no matter what. Even people who strongly dislike he's movies like see it. Say what you what about the guy, but at least he knows how to make the scope and the movie itself feel big.
Was very good but was very short for a movie like this
if u love Michael Bay, this is the shit!
Watching Bad Boys now, twenty-five years after its initial release, it's tempting to write it off as a dated, problematic, flimsy vehicle for a post-Fresh Prince of Bel Air Will Smith. It is all of these things, undeniably, and yet there is something about it that elevates it above much of the similar output from the same period. The more I think about it, the more this seems to be solely to do with the chemistry between Martin Lawrence and Smith, who manage to play off one another so well that when we're forced to watch some overblown action sequence I'm wishing the film would return to the two bickering.
Stylistically, it shows off what are now well-worn Bay tropes: slow motion, wafer-thin plot, Miami bathed in permanent ochre. There's something nightmarish about many of the indoor scenes; intentionally or not, Bay manages to make these seem claustrophobic and unsettling. The action is okay—it does what it needs to but isn't spectacular and lacks the bloat and real pizazz that was to come in its sequel.
The conceit of Mike and Marcus having to swap identities is laughably formulaic but gives rise to a few entertaining moments. A lot of the writing is cheap and wouldn't pass muster today for a variety of reasons but, thankfully, it never quite tips over into egregious offensiveness.
Bad Boys appeals mostly as an example of how far a film can be carried by charm and rapport; that isn't to say that anything else about the film is overly sloppy or badly done, just that it doesn't elevate itself in any other regard.
It was okay back in the days, but -man- some scenes just didn't age well.
Even some dialogues were strange. But most of the time Lawrence and Smiths chemistry just works.
As one of Bay’s earlier entries to his filmography, Bad Boys has fewer of the typical Bayisms, which is both a blessing and a curse. While the action is not excessively over the top, Bay still attempts some stylizing which is a nice way of saying blurry slo-mo. The characters aren’t really well written, particularly the female characters who are written solely to annoy the leads. Those leads however are the film’s saving grace as Will Smith and Martin Lawrence play off of each other very well and have good comedic chemistry.
I was never able to watch the whole movie, I always watched small pieces, when it was aired on TV. Finally in 2019, after more than 20 years after the original release date, I watched it from the beginning, until the end. What to say? It is a Michale Bay movie and even in the 90s he was overdoing with explosions and shootings. I did not catch the comedy. Maybe in the 90s was funny but right now, jokes are a little bit... sad. Definetely a movie that you wanna watch if you want something entertaining and you don't want to use your brain AT ALL.
Bad boys, bad boys, what you gonna do?
Its a typical young boys' wet dream job.... If it was accurate ofcourse
I wonder hoe many people watched this from it's reference in Hot Fuzz

Unnecessarily over the top action, too much macho man bullshit, and annoying editing; yeah this is a Michael Bay movie. I liked Martin Lawrence and Will Smith's chemistry but everything else is too much.
