A must see for any Dark Knight fan

An impressively loyal adaptation of one of comics' most important stories, complete with social commentary, nods at dark chapters of the character's history and a glut of wanton brutality. Despite being ripped violently into two pieces, the story still functions very well and reaches a natural climax in time for the credits to roll after a drawn-out 75 minutes. I fear the end result may be a less-dense arching plotline, especially as most of the political commentary was removed from this chapter (presumably as it won't be relevant until the second) but there's still more than enough pulp to go around.

While the storyline is doggedly faithful (indeed, most of the dialog is copied verbatim from the source), the artwork is both influenced by and notably distanced from Frank Miller and Lynn Varley's amazing work on the printed page. And, while that does rob the story of some of its character, the result is suitable enough; fresh but also familiar. Peter Weller turns in some decent work as the voice of Bruce Wayne, but I couldn't help but daydream about how Kevin Conroy would have approached the material. Very good, if not perfect.

I like the premise but the plot didn't make sense to me sometimes. Also the whole mutant thing is silly, imo.

Como sempre a DC fez uma ótima adaptação com esta história do Frank Miller, o longa traz uma das melhores histórias já escritas do Batman, da forma como gostamos de ver, agressivo e destemido.

Excellent adaption. Highly recommended. I can wait for part 2 :-D

The animation was really good. The voice acting was stellar, this was honestly one of my favorite Batman films. Definitely better than the live action Dark Knight films - any day. The gritty feel, the score - loved the music. It made every moment have such an intensity. Watching both of the parts doesnt even feel like 2 and ½ hrs. :ok_hand: I only wish Gordon had been voiced by Bryon Cranston again - but that's just because he was so good before.

This one's more of the Frank Miller Batman of the old and bold (The Dark Knight). See if you can spot the Swamp Thing comic in one of the stores. If you blink, you might miss it. There were some nice cinematic flashback moments that I liked where the score made it even more atmospheric. There's plenty of fight scenes. The mutants remind me of Krang from TMNT.
Seeing Lana Lang on that TV (The Daily Planet News), I wonder that's the same Lana that young Clark Kent was friends with which may tie us in with part 2 of this animated film series.
Now looking at the cast, I'm surprised to see that Bruce was voiced by RoboCop himself, Peter Weller. Carrie is by Ariel Winter (babe!). Then I see Rob Paulsen voiced Jeff, who also did Raphael in the 80s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Donatello in the current TMNT series.

Old Heroes never die , they just get Darker.

It's Batman Day! Sure this isn't the first movie you think to watch on Batman Day but should definitely be considered. As well as Batman Under the Red Hood.
Watching the film again now; I appreciate it even more. Very solid dark and gritty Batman film.

After seeing all the Batman movies that have lifted bits and pieces from the graphic novel, it was great to finally see one that was true to the graphic novel. This is just about exactly the same as a graphic novel in the plot, the dialogue, and even the artwork is really close. If you like the graphic novel at all you must see this. However, if you are not aware, this is only the first half.

The best representation of Batman EVER! Part I and II are just amazeballs.

I can't help it but I just am not too big a fan of direct adaptations. They just don't do it for me, although they are still great for the occasional break.

Truly great. Looking forward to part 2.
