this movie is a masterpiece, is not the normal romantic drama bullshit you are used to watch is something more, is something better is mind blowing.... you fall in love with it, in love with them... it is not just bc the way it makes you feel is also bc the things they talk abt their dialogues are so well written ugh im copletly in love
This was beautiful. It's just about these two people, complete strangers, who randomly meet on a train and decide to explore a city and end up exploring themselves, all in one night. Nothing more, nothing less, and that's the beauty of this story.
I must thank Richard Linklater, the crew and the cast for bringing me into their dream. I cared about the characters and their journey, but I had a parallel story in my mind, I started imagining about meeting a special girl on an ordinary day. What kind of situations I would live with her, what kind of adventures this special meeting would bring? That's the power of this movie
This film takes everything that life and love and connection are all about and boils it all down to one dream-like time-stood-still night. It’s romantic but real, the awkwardness at the start is almost a turn-off because of how little you see it in movies, but in the end it makes it all feel even more attainable. Their connection grows and transports the story, making it almost impossible for you not to be transported with it.
Magical movie one of the greatest romance movies ever..Dialogues are pure gold and chemistry between Ethan and Julie is unique..It makes you think about any subject you can imagine, about love and ofcourse it makes you wanna travel and live the moment.
8.5/10 go check this out you are going to love it!
This film is part of the Before Trilogie

Before Sunset(2004) https://trakt.tv/movies/before-sunset-2004
Before Midnight (2013) https://trakt.tv/movies/before-midnight-2013
I had a smile on my face the whole time. Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy have such wonderful chemistry. Richard Linklater wrote some fantastic dialogue to make us fall in love with them in such a short time.
One of the most realistic romance I ever watched. I watched this in 2023 and it's still relevant and stands out from all the nonsense rom coms till date. It's beautifully written and conveyed on screen. I loved it
Great romance movie that's carried by the conversations and interactions. The simplicity and grounded nature really makes you connect.
Well i have searching for movies for valentine day and i chooded that, So although it's a bit of illogical thing's but it's really cute and just you can rest and enjoy it, and totally will draw a smile on your face over all of it, So Yes i liked it so much actually
This film was an absolute gem. The relationship between the two stars takes place over a few hours. The conversation and their interaction is sparkling. I can't wait to see the next two films. follow me at https://IHateBadMovies.com
This movie is so over-the-top romantic it makes me want to vomit
Sweet, but cliche still even though it tried to avoid it. Hipster cliche, basically
Love is only like the first sight.
"Before Sunrise" is a film that truly captures the magic of human connection. Directed by the ever-astute Richard Linklater, it is, in essence, a poignant love letter to youth, spontaneity, and the transformative power of conversation.
The magic of the film lies in its simplicity. It's just two people, Jesse and Celine, talking, walking, and getting to know each other. Sounds ordinary? Far from it. The dialogue is so insightful, genuine, and deeply human that you're drawn into their world, their ideas, their fears, and their dreams. There's a certain mesmerizing realism in their conversations that makes the film relatable and intimate. It's not just about romantic love, but about understanding, empathy, and the profound connections we can forge when we truly listen to one another.
Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy deliver stellar performances, breathing life into their characters with such authenticity that you feel like you're eavesdropping on a real-life couple. Their chemistry is palpable, and the progression of their relationship feels beautifully organic.
Shot in the enchanting city of Vienna, the film's visual narrative is just as engaging as its verbal one. The city, with its cobbled streets, charming cafes, and timeless architecture, becomes an active participant in Jesse and Celine's adventure. It serves as a picturesque backdrop that mirrors their growing connection and adds a layer of romanticism to their story.
The film's open-ended conclusion is both moving and thought-provoking, leaving you yearning for more yet appreciating the impermanent, fleeting beauty of Jesse and Celine's encounter. It's a poignant reminder of the transformative moments that often come unannounced in our lives, leaving lasting impressions.
In conclusion, "Before Sunrise" is an endearing cinematic gem that brilliantly encapsulates the human experience. It's a movie that resonates with you, makes you think, makes you feel, and stays with you long after the credits roll. If you're a fan of movies that value character depth and emotional resonance, this one's definitely a must-watch.
So, since I don't have much patience to be writing a review Meet Joe Black style, I'll write one Black Swan style.
Things I didn't like:
1. at some points, the film felt more like a documentary than a romance film
2. The dialogues are the weak part of the movie, there is too much cringe moment
3. The fact that it literally only has two characters
4. In some parts, it feels more like a movie for eloquents (especially in the early part), who would rather enjoy platonic one-night love than keep it for the rest of their lives
5. Céline's voice
6. Some moments where Ethan Hawke tries to rizz up his co-star. I don't know what to say, but there were some really awkward moments.
Things I liked (a lot):
1. The fact that it only has two characters (I know I also put this in the topic of things I didn't like; I have a love-hate relationship with this choice)
2. I was glad that I was able to feel something that matched the movie, because lately it's very hard for me to "believe" in the romance of the main characters in any movie of this genre.
I guess now I'll have to see the rest of the trilogy. I have to start what I finished.
Random thoughts - Was it a good movie? Yes. Is it as good as the esteemed users of this platform would have you believe? No. However, I still feel compelled to give it a 4.5. Thank you Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, i guess I now believe in a kind of intense love that I thought was non-existent.
Highly recommended when meet someone loved
I think I am in love… I’ve watched this yesterday when I was on a plane returning from a short solo(ish) trip. There couldn’t have been a better timing to watch this movie, that I admit. The emotions that I felt were so real and so bitter, it left me empty and filled me with joy. This movie, I think, describes love in its purest form, describes falling in love. And it does it so real so great that in the end you are in love with both the characters and just like them you don’t want the sun to rise.
This is a review for both sunrise and sunset. I don’t know what it is, but these movies are special. I didn’t expect anything from
it, but these movies got to me. They’re not like any other romantic movie. This is something else and I don’t know why. These just got to me. Both movies are just so pure, it’s bizarre.
if my relationship won't look like that i don't want one.
for real thought such a wholesome movie, it shows that you don't need a big budget to tell a great story.
Had to give lot of patience behind this one.At first,it bored me and later on it marked a satisfaction in my mind.
Watching two people walk and conversate can be amazing though sometimes.
It's so green, like a first love
One of the best scripts in terms of dialogue that I've ever seen. Bravo!
Boy picks up girl on a trip, passing through Vienna.
I think this is the perfect romantic film if you want something realistic. It feels so genuine and not cliche at all. There are just the right amount of kisses at just the right times, and everything about it just flows so naturally and freely.
That being said, I feel like some people might find this film, well, boring. There isn’t really too much happening besides two people talking and connecting, and to be honest, that isn’t always the most exciting thing to watch for that long.
Sweet Little Love Story.
What an amazing movie.

This movie was ... special, I wouldn't call it a masterpiece or a perfect film but this movie is like no other romance movie. Instead of only showing the best parts to make you feel warm feelings, it shows you everything and all in one night. And what is truly special about this movie is that it is realistic, I mean you can imagine that a story like this could indeed be possible, it's about seizing the opportunities as they come instead of just watching life happen and not doing anything. I, myself, feel that there are many moments within my life's history, that if I had acted differently, my life would not be the same, I have so many "What if" moments. And, I watch these kinds of movies, not only to feel good or sad for a short amount of time but also to show me examples of situations where there actually is an opportunity to seize. Not many guys watch as much romance movies as I watch. I do it because it guides me in life. This movie was also special because of the different ideas that the two main characters share, instead of introducing some crazy story to the plot, all they did was, make the characters talk and talk and share ideas about love, about relationships, about death, about everything. If I could write decimals in my ratings, I would give this movie a 7.5/10. Not a 10 because of how little it made me feel but I still liked it nonetheless and it was indeed special in itself.
