I watched "Beyond Skyline" because I happened to see a trailer with a couple of large alien beasties fighting among some ancient temples. This movie was worth watching for that battle, even though it's brief. I'm a giant monster fan, so that made this required viewing.
The rest of the movie contained characters behaving in ridiculous fashion given the Earth is being invaded by an alien force. Everyone in the movie has personal problems that have zero impact on anything at all. Luckily I watched for the aliens and monsters.
There isn't much of a story but there's a lot of martial arts fighting that I didn't know if it was being executed well or not. It seemed like humans kicked alien ass relatively easily. I can't remember why the aliens were engaging in hand-to-hand combat in the first place. It seemed like they had already nailed the process of invasion when they were sucking people up into their mother ship like ants into a vacuum cleaner.
The special effects were okay. Not "The Asylum" level bad, but not exactly Star Wars". If you can watch this on your "free" subscription service, go nuts. Otherwise you could skip it and you'd be none the worse.
SOOOOO much better then the first one.....enjoyed it
Iko Uwais fighting aliens is worth the movie
I gave up on this after 30 mins. Thats 30 mins of my life lost..... forever!
Wasn't able to finish that piece of 'art'.
Watched the 1st and this back to back. While the 1st was enjoyable, the special effects in the 2nd were cheesy. Did anyone else notice the creatures heights kept changing taller and shorter? I could have done without watching this movie lol
Did anyone notice when they nuked the mothership it was the exact shot from the original movie skyline 2010
The sequel you thought you would never see, probably because its one you never asked for! The original was no great shakes, and despite opening up the action and settings, this isn't much better. While the special effects are reasonable, the dialogue is awful and the story is all over the place (literally). I've seen worse, but this disappointed, wasting the talents of Grillo and Uwais.
A quasi-sequel that takes place concurrently with the first film, Beyond Skyline is a fun sci-fi adventure. The story follows a Los Angeles cop who’s abducted during an alien invasion and has to fight his way off the ship. Frank Grillo leads the cast and delivers some amazing fight sequences. And, the special effects are quite good, and the set and creature designs for the aliens and their weapons are impressing. However, the violence and gore is a little gratuitous, and the Laos setting in the last act comes off as a rather blatant attempt to pander to the Asian market. Yet while it has a few problems, Beyond Skyline is entertaining and action-packed.
Only the second half of this isn't worth watching because the first half is just repeating Skyline with different people. Then you get to the second half which is a cheap budget action fighting film. It's not the FX showpiece that Skyline was, and that didn't have a mythos big enough to carry a sequel so they make it up here and it feels made up rather than emergent.
What are you doing here? Acting and shit! LOL xD
Sleeper. I didn't realize this was a sequel. I never saw the first one but well worth the $1 I spent on it at Dollar Tree.
An average to bad Sci-Fi movie, with a seemingly random plot being a mix of Alien, Predator and War of the Worlds. The acting feels average at best, the characters forgettable, replaceable and noboy caring about. I felt even hard to pay attention to the movie even.
There are also these weird alien weapons that just randomly fit into human hands. Riiiight.
Also, the blue lights felt repeatingly and overly annoying visually.
It is a movie you might barely not abort, but you will be fully happy once it finished.
Rating: 4/10
I WILL START BY SAYING THE 3rd INSTALLMENT IS IN THE MAKING AND I ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT WAIT
TO SEE WHAT'S NEXT, I AM SO STOKED THEY ARE MAKING A 3rd PART.
RIGHT WITH THAT BEING SAID- THIS MOVIE IS SO FRICKING AWESOME AND SO MUCH BETTER
THAN THE 1st ONE
IS EVERY WAY POSSIBLE.
IT JUST KEPT ON GIVING AND GIVING AND GIVING
& GIVING-IT TO YOU AT A BREAK NECK PACE AND NEVER LET UP ONCE, BUT NOTHING
EVER EVER FELT RUSHED,
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE PACING AND THEY
FILLED EVERY NANO SECOND OF RUNNING TIME. EVERY PART OF THIS FANTASTIC MOVIE COULD HAVE BEEN IT'S OWN MOVIE
AND HOW THEY TIE THE 1st MOVIE IN THEN EXPAND ON IT IN EVERY WAY WAS JUST AWESOME. EVERYTHING WAS JUST SO BLOODY INTERESTING AND EXCITING
I LOVED IT ALL SO MUCH. THE CHARACTERS WHERE BRILLIANT AND SOLID ACTORS AND ACTRESSES, THE FX WERE VERY WELL DONE INDEED AND THEN JUST WHEN YOU THINK IT CAN'T GET ANYMORE AWESOME THEY BRING IN MY BOY'S FROM THE RAID, HERE WE GO
WATCHING IKO DOING HIS PHENOMENAL THING THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN ANYBODY DO, DROPPING ALIENS DOING IT, COME ON
THAT'S JUST BOSS, I WOULD PAY JUST TO SEE HIM DO THAT. HE'S A TOTAL BADASS
AND SO IS THIS FANTASTIC AWESOME AMAZING MOVIE.
10/10
Terrible!! This movie is the worst thing i've ever seen. a pregnant woman gives birth wearing pants while bikers fight martial arts.
Much better than the first, more action, struggles, more of everything. Good for the fights of Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian
Not the worst cheap sci-fi movie I've seen. It has it's moments. Actually had/has some potential as a series even. Too much to cram into a B movie though.
Pretty good special effects for a made for TV movie. The story is pretty cheesy though.
The special effects in this movie were amazing. And somewhere, I think there was a great story too...Unfortunately, I think it was lost somewhere on the cutting room floor. There was so much going on in this it became nearly incomprehensible. Too much for only 105 minutes. Not a complete waste of time, but you will need to fill in the blanks yourself when watching this.
Not bad, not great, just good, worth watching it if you like Sci-Fi movies
They should have cut the movie 1 minute earlier, before they gave the 2 month old a captain position, but i do appreciate the blooper reel.
who had the audacity to make a sequel to one of the worst sci fi ever? because it was a damn good idea! Who would have though...
its not a great movie, but it´s better than the 1st. let´s call it average =)

This movie has a bloopers reel before the end credits. It doesn't want to be the new Arrival and if you saw the first movie you know that.
If you keep in mind this it's a decent B movie. If you're expecting some masterpiece you'll be disappointed and probably delusional.
