I loved this cartoon when I watched it. And a plus, it made me cry! A grown man, cry. This cartoon is a masterpiece, bravo to the director and producer, 10/10.

[7.7/10] Grief is one of the hardest emotions to process, especially when we lose someone in a way that feels senseless. Big Hero 6 is funny, colorful, full of bright heroes and dazzling superpowers. But it’s also, at heart, an age-appropriate story about how we handle grief, and the best way to honor the people whose absence we feel so keenly.
The avatar for all of this is Hiro, a teenage boy who's bright enough to graduate from high school at thirteen but also impulsive and more focused on hitting it big than doing good in the world. That changes when he loses his big brother, Tadashi, who inspired him to put his brilliant mind to better use, and who died rushing into a burning building to save someone. All Hiro has left of his mentor/sibling is Baymax, an inflatable robot meant to provide first aid and other medical care to anyone he comes across.
It’s a weird setup if you think about it for too long, but that also works to Big Hero 6’s advantage. There’s an imaginative charm to the whole film: set in a cross between San Francisco and Tokyo, filled to the brim with impossible technologies like nanobots and matter transporters, and centering much of the emotional core of the movie on a big puffy white droid who seems more like an extra large carnival prize than a superhero sidekick.
And yet, Baymax is not just the heart of the film, he’s its funniest and most endearing feature. The animators find just the right movements for the big balloon animal, giving him a stilted, gentle walk that marks him as a creature of kindness and innocence. Voice actor Scott Adsit matches that in his vocal performance, giving Baymax a tone of both empathy and that particular robotic detachment. And his endless efforts to help Hiro recover from any sort of pain, be it a mild irritation from duct tape or the unfathomable loss of a sibling, make him the wholesome star of the show.
More to the point, he represents Tadashi, for Hiro and the audience. It’s not just that Baymax is the last project that Tadashi was working on. He fills the role that Tadashi once did, both in terms of trying to look after Hiro individually, but also in his general bent toward altruism, a manifestation of the big brother’s goal to help people operationalized in the form of a non-threatening bubble bot whose innate sweetness keeps that desire to help alive.
Baymax’s true purpose in the film is to help Hiro recover from his brother’s death. The show integrates that into a rousing superhero tale. Baymax recognizes that part of the treatment for loss is contact with friends, so he connects Hiro with Tadashi’s four labmates who are briefly, but distinctively introduced in the film’s first act.
In truth, the quartet of Go Go, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred don’t have much in the way of character, leaning more in the way of gimmicks and archetypes. But what they do have is personality, and a fun dynamic, with Hiro and one another. That rapport helps paper over some of the shortcuts the film takes in adding them to its narrative, and makes them memorable in the spaces where character writing meets performance, with a series of great line reads and fun gags.
That’s the other thing about Big Hero 6 that makes it such a winning proposition: it’s a roundly cute and funny film. There’s few setups and punchlines, but there’s some fun physical humor with Baymax’s bubble bod in particular, a number of amusing lines parceled out among the titular superhero team, and some well-observed straight man shtick in Hiro trying to deal with the wide-eyed naiveness and matter-of-factness of his robo pal. The film remains sweet and lively throughout, with enough silly bits to keep you smiling and take the edge off the heavier material at its center.
It also manages to keep the tone light by unleashing any number of great visuals and set pieces. The look of San Fransokyo is a shining delight, with a nice mix of eastern and western architecture, mixed with futuristic tech, bright colors, and inviting settings. At the same time, the movie keeps the energy up with thrilling chases and escapes, showdowns with a particle-powered, kabuki mask-wearing, tentacle slashing baddie, and whole buildings being sucked into other, psychedelic realms. Within these kinetic sequences, the characters each boast unique designs with exaggerated but recognizable movements, and the contrast between the inherently buoyant robot and the particulate-molding villain create tons of opportunities for aesthetic excellence.
It turns out that villain is the negative image of Hiro. The one who stole Hiro’s microbots and is using them for evil is not, as the team suspected, the well-heeled businessman a la Lex Luthor or Norman Osborn. It is, instead, Professor Callaghan, the kindly instructor at Tadashi’s school who seemed to be a man of principle and science. Maybe he was once. We learn that his daughter perished (or appeared to), in one of that businessman’s futuristic demonstrations, and he’s been out for revenge ever since.
In Big Hero 6’s most harrowing scenes, Hiro almost goes down that path himself. He trains Baymax to do harm, not repair it. He removes the protocols Tadashi installed, wanting to avenge his brother and take out Callaghan, but at the cost of violating the ideals that Tadashi lived and died by. Eventually, in a tough moment, Hiro realizes all of this, understanding that it’s not what his brother would want, and that instead, caring and altruism are the best ways to honor his brother, not taking down his killer and inadvertently becoming just like him.
That is a simplified but no less profound lesson on how grief affects us. It makes us want to lash out, to get vengeance, but as Baymax himself indicates, that’s no way to find peace. Instead, Hiro self-actualizes by living up to his brother’s legacy and carrying it on, with his friends and his robot buddy, there to protect and save and use their big ol’ brains for good. It’s that commitment to helping people, to improving human life rather than taking it, that finally gets Hiro back to a good place.
The charming, exciting, endlessly sweet trappings of the film make it the perfect, unassuming delivery method for ideas so rooted in some of the toughest things we mortal beings have to grapple with. Big Hero 6 traces Hiro’s journey from robo-fighting dilettante, to kid in mourning, to vengeance-seeking brute, to an enlightened hero worthy of upholding what his brother stood for, and does it beautifully. Life is pain, and anyone who tells you differently is still selling something. But that pain is much easier to deal with a friendly poofball robot at your side, and a loved one’s notions of love and kindness on your mind.

Honestly, I put off watching this because I didn't feel like I would enjoy it so much. I was proved wrong. Right from the start, the fresh animation of this film along with the brilliant editing and voice acting had me engaged. Though the plot is pretty flat and for kids, the concept is pretty new (in that it hasn't been totally overdone), dealing in robotics which allowed them to show some cool stuff. But the story being from Disney, did have moments of it being 'too easy' as well as a few stock characters but it wasn't such a big deal. The story was told well, and wasn't cheesy or boring at all. The freshness of the voices and the animation really put this film together.
The connection between the voices and animation really showed on screen the chemistry between the characters, and this worked to gain the sympathy of the viewer's at certain scenes. I thought that was well done, the characters were developed well in relation to each other. And I know I keep saying this, but I just really like the animation, and the effects. Baymax is so cute, and the other character's have a kind of Asian feel to them. It's also quite cool how the animated characters almost always resemble the actors voicing them (I guess this is intentional).
However, watching the trailer again, I notice that they miss some of the scenes out. I mean if you put it in the trailer, you've got to put it in the film! I would've liked to have seen the scene with Baymax and the soccer ball.

Manga-influenced, team-based teen superhero antics with an emphasis on engineering over fantasy and mysticism. Nobody's struck by a meteor or experimented upon by the government, they're all just classmates at a prestigious technical school with a very specific set of strengths and passions. That's refreshing, both for the way it keeps the story grounded and for the limitations it places on the core characters. They're each decidedly human, even the cute inflatable robot whose personality is dictated by a memory card. Paired with a bright, friendly sense of style and a spacious, unique world that's loaded with fun little surprises, it's a visual and conceptual triumph. Unfortunately, the greater plot runs a bit generic, its well-worn twists and turns telegraphed a mile away, so those quirks and design touches are leaned on quite often. It's well-made, good natured, unique in a very crowded crossroad of genres, but too complacent and vanilla with its storytelling. Given a little more ambition, a sequel could do really well.
When Disney bought Marvel, people had a lot of questions: How would the universes of beloved characters such as Spider-Man, the X-Men, or the Avengers be affected? Some people had their doubts, and rightfully so; when the Mouse owned Saban, the Power Rangers seasons they produced are still to this day widely considered to be the worst, and many longtime space opera fans feel that The Last Jedi was a shark-jumping moment for Star Wars. Still, Disney has gotten their own franchises wrong, too; The Lizzie McGuire Movie may have been the first theatrically released film to be the series finale of a television show, but it betrayed the now-iconic sitcom on which it was based. So, they could have either hit a home run...or completely strike out.
Well, if this movie is any indication, then Mickey's ownership of Marvel is working very well. This film packed a punch unlike any animated movie I've seen in a while. Some scenes made me almost tear up, whereas others made me want to cheer. The animation was outstanding; seriously, it was on par with Pixar's creations. As usual, there was plenty of action and heroism, not to mention a cameo by Stan Lee, albeit one after the credits.
However, I do have to warn viewers that, though this movie was amazing, it is also very emotional. Early in the movie, the main character's brother is killed; later on, multiple characters are feared dead, including the protagonist's robotic companion. For those who can't handle seeing such tragedy because of events in their own lives, it might be best to avoid this.
With the action of Marvel, emotions of Disney, and comedy of both, Big Hero 6 is a fantastic film for anyone.
Big Hero 6 is a great family friendly adaption of the Marvel comic. The plot of this movie is brilliant. It's incredibly well written and maintains a pretty good pace. I was surprised that this was a Disney flick, the top-notch storytelling made it feel like a well produced Pixar movie. It does deal with themes that might be inappropriate for small children, but should be fine for children 6 and over. The movie is intense enough to hold attentions of adults and children alike. The comedy is generally funny, and actually produced a few more laughs than expected. While Hiro is the main character and does a great job at being relatable, Betamax, the adorable inflatable side kick is the real star of the show. The rest of the characters are ok, but just aren't fleshed out enough to really get attached to. Disney did a great job at making a truly heartfelt and emotionally satisfying movie. This is definitely a huge step forward for Disney. Well worth watching, whether you're young or old.

Cool animated superhero film, one that I think is good.
There are moments I like about 'Big Hero 6' and moments I don't like quite as much. I'll start with the positive parts. The animation is excellent, as is the music (nice song from Fall Out Boy). It also has a fair amount of heart, not as much as the film intends to add but still more than most.
Now for the lesser things; that aren't bad per se, just not as well done in my opinion. The plot doesn't feel like anything too refreshing, I feel it's a story I've mostly seen elsewhere; in a few areas it kinda reminded me of the sorta stuff you'd see in a Scooby Doo episode, at least in terms of the twists and/or antagonists. I, also, don't love the design for Baymax - making a character with no facial expressions or true emotion always makes it harder to get attached to them. I do like his purpose, mind.
As for the cast, they're decent just not memorable to me. Ryan Potter and Daniel Henney are solid as Hiro and Tadashi, I enjoy their bond together. I'm struggling to remember any of the others though.
All in all, a good film - it's just missing a couple of things that would've made it greater.

A very comedic Disney film, Baymax is the hero we all didn't know we needed. This film is so heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.
I liked it. I knew nothing about the story and that's why I didn't know what to expect but I really enjoyed it. I think this film presents a good story with nicely defined characters and a good Marvel-like score.

The films' strong focus on the central character lifts this above more recent Disney animated output, including Pixar. The filmmakers take their time to develop Hiro and his relationship with his brother and there is feeling of genuine emotion and warmth between them, but more importantly the film doesn't shirk away from touching on real issues of loss, grief and coping with these feelings. Whereas other similar films depict its central hero overcoming obstacles to triumph in the end, this is one obstacle the film seems determined to explore throughout. There is a moment near the finale where it would have been easy to create a resolution that pandered to the audience, but thankfully the filmmakers are at pains to remind the audience that grief and loss are not something you necessarily triumph over, but learn to cope with. Indeed, so strong is the central character and his journey within the film that the central origin story of the superheroes almost gets in the way. None the less, it is a lot of fun and Baymax is another fantastic character. Whilst there are a lot of structural similarities to the How To Train Your Dragon series (Hiro & Baymax are one step short of Hiccup and Toothless) it also shares that series' focus on character development and there is enough here to differentiate between them and enjoy them both. Hopefully any sequels will take a slightly different approach, but this is a great start.
It was so good I actually paid attention during family movie night
I really couldn't stand Baymax. His comedy was too juvenile. I enjoyed the surrounding story though and its basis in science. I think it's a great subject for children to be inspired by. I feel like they could have had a great slew of characters but they didn't develop on it at all, which was a shame.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Lots of fun and, as always with superhero movies, not to be taken too seriously.

Absolutely inspired by Iron Man - and i wouldn't mind it except for the iron man ending. That was irritating. Only Iron Man did that well & i really dont enjoy having my emotions messed with like that. Otherwise it wasnt too bad

One of my favorite Disney films. Really enjoyed it from start to finish. A tear jerking story about a young boy genius who had a great relationship with his genius big brother college student who he looks up to, but shortly after his brother talks him out of illegal robot fighting and into accepting college so he can use his brain for good disaster strikes. Leading Hero making an unlikely friend(s) that help him find his way again in this action packed heartwarming masterpiece of an animated family film.
Baymax scans literally every single citizen and gathers all kinds of medical information without their consent and noone bats an eye... The cynic in me sees that as a lobbyist move by Di$ney to normalize this kind of privacy breach.
Also, the film tries to promote progressive messages about mental health, non-violence etc. while its vigilante team is wielding terrifyingly lethal weapons... Kinda mixed messaging.
P.S. Apparently, even in San Fransokyo, people can't pronounce Japanese names correctly.
That was my mistake for watching this.

As a fast paced cartoon this Disney super-hero effort hits all the marks. It very well animated, well [voice] and certainly hits a serious note at least once during its running time.
Baymax the medi-care robot is characterised to perfection and hit all the right notes being naive, silly, brave and lovable throughout without twanging too hard on the heart strings. One particularly please aspect of the film is that learning and living up to your potential is fulfilling and as important as friviouslous fun. The story certainly, for what is basically a children’s movie, doesn’t pull punches about the themes of loss and responsibility.
As with Baymax all of the main characters are lovable with distinct personalities throughout which keeps even the adult viewers anchored to the action and the main villain, who you may or may not see sign-posted way ahead of his actual reveal, does have a motivation that makes sense, even if the actions that gets the story to the conclusion are a bit over-the-top even for an all action cartoon.
Nothing is perfect and I felt the film lost some momentum as it headed towards its climax which of course as it was heading that way it should not.
Overall the animation, characterisation and story-plotting are great and as a Sunday afternoon cartoon you can’t go far wrong than a few hours in San Fransokyo with Hiro and his friends.

Zarówno dla dzieci tych młodszych i starszych a także dla dorosłych. Balalala na ustach najmłodszych, zapewni radość najstarszych. Fabuła ciekawa, nie pozwala się nudzić. Dorośli docenią bardzo ładnie wykonaną animację, mnie szczególnie do gustu przypadły smugi kondensacyjne za skrzydłami megarobota i przecudownego przyjaciela głównego bohatera Hiro. Moje maluchy uwielbiają tą bajkę. Po pierwszej projekcji, zwariowały i przez kolejny tydzień musiała być ta bajka. Nie mam zamiaru oceniać, porównywać tego filmu, jednym podoba się to drugim tamto. Jeśli ktoś lubi ładną, dopracowaną animację doceni filmik. Polecam obejrzeć bez dubbingu, angielski nie jest skomplikowany a humor sytuacyjny jak i słowny będzie na bardzo miłym poziomie. Polski dubbing niestety trochę psuje film.

This movie sucked for me and left me asking TONS of questions when the credits started rolling...
Not for the scientific at heart. Just the physics of Baymax alone made no sense, and the flaws were so numerous that I couldn't even enjoy the absurd plot (super smart kid and robot join forces to avenge the death of nerd's brother). Definitely not one of my favorite Disney movies.
