It is a more stylized Spaghetti Western, with different camera shots, close-ups, and a brutally dark mood. A soldier deserts from the civil war when he learns his father has been killed by Lopez and 17 of his henchmen, each taking one shot in turn into his body. Lopez was seeking revenge for being made a cripple by the soldier's father. It is a never-ending tit-for-tat revenge film. No way out for either side. The soldier has a showdown with all 16 of his father's killers. Signature line by the town judge to the casket-maker: "Well, we better get a casket ready for him."
Also known as "Perché uccidi ancora" (Why do you still kill?)

Don't get this 1965 film confused with the 1966 film of the same name. Both star Anthony Steffen, and both are sometimes known as "Blood at Sundown" but the 1966 film is directed by Alberto Cardone (as Albert Cardiff) and is sometimes known as "$1,000 on the Black"

I was able to see this film dubbed in English on Amazon Prime as "Why go on killing?."
