Blood Diner 1987

This is part of my 2022 HORROR Fridays

There has been a lot said about Blood Diner. Both insane and bizarre has been thrown around a lot, and yes...Blood Diner are both of those, but it's also just stupid fun. Jackie Kong has managed to make something incredibly stupid, yet so very fascinating. Blood Diner is not really what I would call a masterpiece, but it's a very watchable if you are looking for some crazy 80s b-movie goodness.

After listening to two separate podcasts about this obscure gem, I had decided that I HAD to see it! Couldn't find it on any streaming service or any reasonably priced download or rental, so I just "screw it!" I blind-bought the Blu-ray off Amazon. Fortunately, I had several unused Amazon gift cards from previous Christmases, so it didn't cost me a thing.

Well, it was WELL worth the price I paid. It is exactly the low-budget, exploitative, offensive, off-the-wall glorious piece of fantastic trash that I knew it would be! Plus, there are TONS of behind-the-scenes bonus bits and a director's commentary on the Blu-ray (A rare find these days).

Watching Blood Diner is like engaging in a feast of your favorite flavored Hot Pockets. Sure, they taste great going down... but you know you're going to regret it later.

For fans of low-budget '80s cheese-fest "So bad its good" horror movies, Blood Diner gets two severed thumbs way up! I'm proud to say that this is my first official movie watch of 2022. Praise Sheetar!

Nah... it hasn't aged well. It's supposed to be a funny and ridiculous unofficial follow up to Blood Feast, but it just gets way too goofy and not all that funny. Great soundtrack though.

Blood Diner is a fun film that never takes itself serious. It is over the top and it looks like everyone involved had fun making this!

This Jackie Kong film starts out with a disclaimer telling us that: "All of the mutilations, bodily dismemberments and cannibal rituals were performed by seasoned professionals." I'm glad we got that sorted out at the beginning of the film! After that we get a film that somewhat feels like a Troma film. We get a naked girl fighting, a topless aerobics class getting mowed down with a machine gun, a jar with brains and eyes in it that can talk and speak. Lil Jimmy Hitler, a proffesional wrestler. the ressurection of Sheetar, a goddess. two brainwashed batshit crazy brothers. And lots of over the top acting!

The ending is a lot of fun too! So over the top! It is worth the wait! So yeah, Blood Diner is a fun film to watch and certainly one that horror fans will enjoy!

Ps. After reading that this film was a homage to Herschell Gordon Lewis's Blood Feast, I must check that one out in the near future!

Better than I expected. So silly. The Humour is sometimes really good. Very entertaining, cheesy and tacky. Music was good.
