Pretty damn great! This 50s Italian creature sci-fi horror is surprisingly gory and less talky for its time compared to the Hollywood counterparts. I ended up enjoying this more than expected. The plot is your typical 50s sci-fi/horror fare with a cast of scientists and military types, but Mario Bava elevates this film with his visual style and the folk horror elements set this apart from the average sci-fi films. There's also plenty of monster action, not just a third act reveal, and the effects are solid throughout.
