Liked: The idea. Some of the observations of the sexes and life in general real. Jodie Foster.
Disliked: It wasn't funny enough. A lot of content seemed disconnected e.g the cake, I thought it would be more relevant but it wasn't (so the story overall lacked a finely woven or clever feel). It dragged at times because it's a difficult structure to pull off, and didn't have enough twists, just character breakdowns.
So I enjoyed some parts and thought the actors did great but it wasn't funny enough or memorable enough for me wanting to watch it again. The ending didn't annoy me, although it did come across as abrupt for the sake of it, to try actors gained be edgy.
Well acted, realistic even, but boring. I was bored.
Amazing cast! Had a really great time watching this.
A well experienced cast pull off a wonderful adaptation of a stage play. Set design allows each of them to move around and take sides; and the camera to not just become fixed and boring.
The dialogue in turn; while some see as disconnected is built on a natural feel. With no plot holes: the entire movie unfolds in front of you this is a solid tightly woven one room film.
However some may be disappointed with the ending. For me as they keep leaving and coming back it avoids that damp squib. Some may want to know who's child or marriage is really to blame, but again that's the point of the film that answers can be hard to come by.
it's like a theatre play, very intriguing!
absolutely brilliant!
How alcohol finally breaks all ties of correctness. ;)
The acting! OMG The acting! The script isn't amazing, but watching those four act is everything.
It is not common for a movie with 4 characters to be interesting. Well this one is full with emotions from calm to aggressive through pain and love. It is interesting how people go from one mental stage to another. And this is represented by the actors in a very good way.
I’ve watched this so many times over the years. It’s a fantastic film with four excellent performances, my personal favourite being John C. Reilly’s. The gradual but ultimately enormous change in his character is cleverly written and masterfully performed. If you like full closure and having everything wrapped up nicely at the end of a film, then you will be left frustrated, but please broaden your mind and become open to ambiguity!
Really dissapointed with this one even if i expected to be like that..If this wasn't about this cast this would be terrible at least in my opinion.. 5.3/10
A neat little film that demonstrates the difficulties we have in interacting with others and how our personal issues play into our relations.
This movie is great i loved it...until the end. The reason why i loved it its because its a movie that lacks plot holes and has great storyline very well paced and with great perfomances(in my opinion they talked and facial expressions were on point). Did not expect that from John Reily, i always saw him as cheap basic comedy kinda actor but im glad i saw this movie. The reason why i didnt like its because of the ending. I was lost at the ending. Was not expecting the screen just to go black after the phone call. Am i missing something? Please tell me if i am. 7/10 seems fair since for me they just build up the story until it reaches nowhere.
Good acting. It reminded me a bit of "Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf", but then without a plot.
Gifted cast totally mastering a slow and predictable huit-clos.
This movie really fluttered the cinephile flair inside of me. Watching Christoph Waltz dominate the dialogue like that. Amazing.
It really highlights the miserable first world 9-to-5 marriages and facades. I loved it.
It's also John C. Reillys birthday today, so happy birthday!
Agree with laurenduts, completely dull.
Didn't expect "that" with such actor cast.
seriously? i thought it was crap!
Great play!!!
