Child's Play 2 1990

Having re-watched this for the first time in years, I have to say I enjoyed it a little bit more. The biggest downside is of course the human characters: Andy is little more than a sleepwalking child zombie, the stepfather is (intentionally) annoying, the stepmother provides nothing, and Kyle is just shy of enough personality to make her interesting. Let's face it though, like a Godzilla movie, you're not here for the mundos. You're here for the monster. Brad Dourif never disappoints, and he infuses his sinister wickedness into every foul-mouthed little barb. The body count is a bit light for my tastes, but the final (and dragged out) showdown in the toy factory makes it all worth it.

A great sequel to a classic horror film. I defenitely prefer this film over the original Child's play. Unlike the first film, you don't have to wait 45 minutes to see Chucky in action. This film keeps you entertained the entire time. It just never gets boring. I especially liked the final scene in the Good guys factory where Chucky kills an employee. The part where Andy and Kyle try to kill Chucky by melting him was great. I would defenitely recommend this film.

Personally, I think Child’s Play 2 is a masterpiece. I mean this with all my heart. It’s not scary, no. Not in the slightest. But it’s self aware. It KNOWS it’s stupid and has fun with it. This movie, really, is not supposed to scare you. It’s supposed to let you have fun while being a clever subversion of several horror movie tropes. Is it my favorite horror movie ever? No. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Midsommar, Scream, and a few other films are all better horror flicks than this one.

But I would be lying to myself if I said I didn’t love this movie to death. It’s my favorite Chucky movie by a long shot and in my opinion, a perfect sequel.

Child's Play 2 is lazy and dull, tarnishing the original's tight and original script with corporate-written dribble. The plot arcs here are painfully familiar and a true bore to sit through, and it is obscene with no purpose in mind besides to justify its "R" rating.

As annoying as Andy can be, I have to sympathise with him after this movie. No one ever believes me when the little geese with clogs on tie me to my bed.

The first one is a very straightforward and serious horror movie. This one is more self aware. It's more fun. It's only let down by the plot and generic characters.

The best directing of the franchise. I love the low angles, the tight shots with wide lenses, the deep focus...

"Surprise. Did you miss me, Andy? I sure missed you. I told you. We were gonna be friends to the end. And now it's time to play."

Better than the first on every level more funny one-liners, more kills, more horror, more scares and way more maniacal laughs and temper tantrums from Chucky. It blends the humor and horror better than the first while keeping the same magic going and Brad Dourif's voice is gold. So many edge of your seat moments and there's never a dull moment. I love the storm setting at the beginning it's the perfect way to start the nightmare and I find it scaryer especially in the first half. The inclusion of Kyle was a good idea and I like the interactions she has with Andy. The effects look so good and Chucky looks more realistic and polished than the first. The third act is a masterpiece the factory and the yellow box labyrinth look superb and it's the perfect setting to finish your movie in a killer doll slasher. This one still holds as my favorite of the franchise, I wouldn't change anything about it.

Can't honestly say it was any better or worse than the first one.

Meh - not great, not terrible. Must watch in the genre and series of Child's Play movies.

Chucky's back for more mayhem and murder in Child's Play 2. The story continues as the Play Pals Company rebuilds Chucky in an attempt to find defects, but he soon escapes and tracks down Andy at a foster home. As far as horror films go, this is one of the more plausible resurrections of a villain. But, the rest of the script (with the exception of the final showdown) is pretty weak. Also, the film gives into the campiness a little more this time; with Chucky being more playful than scary. Even so, there's some excitement and suspense to the chases and fight sequences. Though not as good as the original, Child's Play 2 manages to stir up some scares.

The second best one in the series.

Not as good as the first but I like that they let loose and totally let Chucky be a killer doll from the start. The doll factory scene was great.

Always been one of the best of the series. It's just so much fun. It drops the serious tone of the original and just has fun with the ridiculous concept. All with a more likeable cast, better effects and more incentive kills.
