I don't think I have seen City Hunter since way back in the mid 90s, and I distinctly remember hating it. Now, I wouldn't say I hate it, but it's certainly not one of my favourite Jackie Chan films.
There's something about the humour that iffy at best, downright cringy at the worst. It all seem so darn forced. Maybe this is because the manga it's supposedly based on has this kind of humour, but since it's been a LONG time since I have seen or read anything City Hunter, I can't really say. All I know is that even though I laughed at places, City Hunter has not the kind of humour that works well for me.
BUT… There's one scene that really makes watching this worth it. The Street Fighter II scene. I'm not going to spoil it for you, but it's quite…something.
Otherwise, the stunts and action is at the high levels you get accustomed to when watching Jackie Chan Movies. Both Jackie and the rest of the cast does a good job considering the lacklustre script. The ladies kick ass…literarily.
Anyway...City Hunter is a weird film, but if you like the source material and the goofy manga style of humour, this might be for you.
Didn't know that Jackie Chan also did anime live action movies (parody)

Oh boy... what a goofy ass movie. Finding out it was based on a cartoon makes a lot more sense though... how sad is it that this has the best representation of Street Fighter on screen...?
