Clerks II 2006

This movie starts off a little slow, introducing new and old characters, but after the first 15 minutes becomes instantly hilarious with one great conversation after another. As far as dialogue goes, there isn't a funnier movie out there.

"What kinda sick fuck gets turned on watching a guy fuck a donkey?"

There are so many great moments in this movie. The donkey show, the Lord of the Rings rant, "ass to mouth", porch monkeys 4 life, the ABC dance, and Jay's Goodbye Horses dance. This is constantly funny and the quotable. And there are a lot of great callbacks to previous movies.

"Sequels suck! Oh please, please! By definition alone, sequels are inferior films!" (Randy Meeks Scream 2 (1997))

This is one of those, friends always ask Have you seen Films? So it was put into my list of Films to watch before I die.
Halfway through and I've got Laughter tears running down my cheek.

I have now put this in my Unicorn Film list, a list of sequals equal to or better than the First, Aliens (1986), Spider-Man 2 (2004), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) to name a few . Bloody Brilliant ! Now I hope Clerks III is up to task.

Jay, Silent Bob and Elias are the best characters! Without them, the movie would be 4 stars out of 10. Now it's 8/10.

"Clerks II" doesn't quite reach the level of Kevin Smith's first work, but the charm is still there. At its core, the film is once again about the two clerks, Dante and Randal, who this time work in a fast food joint. And once again, there is hardly any underlying plot; instead, the individual conversations are the main draw. Not all of them hit the spot, but some of them are hilarious (I just say "Lord of the Rings"). The still below-average acting by Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson can be forgiven; at least Rosario Dawson provides some class in this regard. In the end, Smith finds a satisfying conclusion for the Clerks, and the film ends on a satisfying note. More films featuring these characters, in my opinion, would not have been necessary.

Number 2 still plays out well. Some of the same type of jokes, many cameos, and pop culture references. A good update to the series.

Kevin Smith returns to where it all began with Clerks II, but he doesn’t have much to say this time. After burning down the Quick Stop Dante and Randall get jobs at Mooby’s, but they’re still having issues getting their lives together. Unlike the first film, Smith doesn’t have any interesting or clever observations about the workplace. There’s some funny satire and witty dialog, but overall the writing is rather weak. And, Smith takes the comedy to new levels of vulgarity and crudeness. While there’s a certain level of nostalgia in returning to these characters, Clerks II is a trite and uninspired effort by Smith to recapture the magic.
