Having not seen the original, I just watched the director's cut. I expected to snooze through it, but I was pleasantly surprised and overly confused at how much flak this gets. This film was quite decent and certainly no worse than many other comic book adaptations.
Total rubbish. Better watch the Netflix series instead.
I don't know why but I loved this film so much. It's so emotional. We are not seeing action scenes only.
i rather not have had Ben Affleck playing the role of Daredevil he didnt look right i did however like Colin Farrell playing Bulleye and Wilson Fisk played by the late Michael Clarke Duncan they was very believable. I did like Jennifer Garner playing Elecktra she was awesome
Whatever it just follows marvel unconventional plot!!I love ELEKTRA thats all i know for sure!!
First time watching this now (director's cut, never seen the original.) Not as bad as the things I've read and heard about it when you focus on lawyers Matt Murdock and his best friend Foggy, their banter, court scenes, investigating and solving crimes, visualizing how Matt "sees". Those parts were done very well and were quite entertaining. Everything else is really, really, really bad. Worst villains in any superhero movie ever. And I'm not sure if this was supposed to be an origin story or not, but we didn't get to see how Daredevil became the vigilante/superhero and known in his city. So in total the movie kind of seemed pointless.
Don't lose your time watching this
Some-what fun but goofy. I always enjoyed it. The Director’s Cut is superior though. Since there’s more scenes of Matt actually defending someone in court. The kick-ass show Netflix made a huge mistake canceling just to piss off Disney. Is of course far superior than this movie.
My comment relates to the Director's Cut which is very much a different movie than the Theatrical Cut. But even this version doesn't make it a great movie. The story is actually not bad but let's address the elephant in the room - casting. Ben Affleck was somewhat in the upper echelon of Hollywood around the time but he does not carry this charachter. While his Matt Murdock is somewhat OK his Daredevil is plain and simply bad. His attempt at making him darker by speaking in a deep voice is futile. And there isn't much more. He just isn't convincing. But the miscastings didn't stop with him. Jennifer Garner - I loved her in Alias and was a big fan of her around that time. Playing Sydney Bristow should have given her some edge in the action department but she seems to be struggling here as Elektra. And you can't help but think it was Afleck who got her the job (althought their relationship began later). Again, not a convincing portrayal. And speaking of romance - I know it's part of the Daredevil story but I don't think it was a good idea to incorporate it in the first movie. In any case it was done in an awful way.Colin Farrell - here we have the case of a hero just being as good as your villain. And how good can your hero be when your villain is simply ridicolous? Farrell overplayed the part. Maybe this is how Bullseye is in the comics, I don't know. But for a casual viewer this villain becomes a joke. The only two parts I liked are Favreau, who is funny no matter what he does, and Clarke Duncan who is an imposing figure. So your three main characters are bad, there isn't a story in the world that can save this. Plus I felt no emotional attachment. I didn't feel Matt's pain, his struggles. When Elektra was killed, which should be a key scene, it left me cold. On top of all of that the movie didn't age well. In parts it looks older than it actually is. The curse of early CGI. This is one case where I am completely on board with a 55 % rating for the movie. I give it 6 but at least 1 or 2 points are for effort.
After watching the director's cut I thought this was much better than it's reputation. It is very silly and feels so 2000s. There was some weird editing and too many crash zooms. Ben Affleck is miscast but Colin Farrell is having a lot of fun. Michael Clarke Duncan is great.
Watched A long time ago
A gritty 2000's superhero film, it falls on a lot of cliches, but is perfectly watchable, enjoyable, but predictable.
Daredevil child well, most well at first, Elektra well, Karen Page bad, Bullseye very bad, regulate Kingping, the extended version improves
Another very boring comic adaptation! Too fucking illogical so I couldn't stand watching the whole movie.
Shame, shame, shame!
