Aw yeah! This is a proper sequel for fucking nazi zombies!
I have to admit that I did't dig the first one all that much but with the zombie battalion moving from the get go it's a lot more fun.
Content wise this gets a lot more absurd which allows for some interesting setups and a battle between German and the Reds. The story continues where the first movie ended but there is a flashback so you get at least the gist of what happened if you haven't seen it (and we all know there isn't a deep story here).
It seems like after having directed a movie in Hollywood that Wirkola's budget for this one was a lot bigger. The zombie fx are all consistently good and the gore is fucking everywhere.
They also went out of their way to break plenty of taboos with holding no restraints when it comes to the nazi decimating the villagers on their final mission. You better not be offended because there are some hilarious deaths thanks to that.
The biggest weakness are probably the members of the US zombie hunter squad whose characters are written a bit too comic-ey but thankfully their screen time is balanced enough. I take it they were added to appeal to a wider audience since whenever they're involved the whole cast is speaking in English.
I can only recommend checking this one out as its funnier, gorier and even has cuter zombies than the first one!
The original Dead Snow movie was actually not that bad. It was quite okay within its somewhat confined genre. Dead Snow 2 however is a major disappointment. It abandoned all pretence of actually being a real horror movie and wandered into the land of pure comedy…and failed miserably. This movie is like Bad Taste but on a higher budget (and regardless of what the fans want to pretend Bad Taste is a piece of shit movie).
The movie does have a plot that makes sense, again for this kind of movie, that has to be said but that lone does not make a good movie. There are literally NO really scary moments at all in this movie.
The movie has plenty of goory stuff. Actually the gore is pretty much thrown at the viewer from the first scene to the last. Unfortunately much of it is so ludicrous that it is embarrassing. To add to the embarrassment a bunch of absolutely nonsensical characters are thrown into the mix. The so called Zombie Squad is just pathetic. The Norwegian police office makes me squirm in my seat. The puking pet zombie makes me want to throw up my supper.
This movie is nothing but brain-dead people (and I am not talking only about the zombies here) and tasteless effects stacked onto each other. The only reason it does not get a single star is that there was one or two laughs in there and because some of the ludicrously overdone gory effects was not too bad from a technical point of view.
As I wrote it was a major disappointment. This movie can only appeal to the die hard fans of the genre or, with its frequent puking scenes, bad jokes and senseless gore to people who … well I will not go there actually.
I really enjoyed this NAZI themed over the top 80's throwback movie. It's gory, ridiculous, and funny.
Supernatural NAZI stuff is the perfect setting for a retro gorefest.
Commander Herzog and his undead Nazi army are back! Their brains might be frozen but nothing will stop them from finishing their mission.
Picks up immediately after the first and manages to hold the momentum from the ending of the first. This time around we don't get a boring first half it's absolute campy fun from beginning to end. More kills, more blood, more zombies, more fun and the stakes are higher. We get a lot more info and lore on how this universe works. The Nazi general is so badass and how fucking cool is it that we see zombies fighting zombies!
Some Game of Thrones similarities here with Herzog the necromancer (The Night King) and his army of frozen zombies (White Walkers). Also they started the movie in the cold weather and gradually go towards summer weather. One thing is for sure it had a much better ending.
A must watch if you like campy comedy action horror gore fest. Stick around for the after credits.
Everyone dissapointed with the first Dead Snow should know this is a big step up. The pacing is better, story yet silly, flows really good. The addition of the zombie squad (USA!) is obviously to attract a bigger audience but doesn't distract. It's absurd, gory, could be a bit offensive even but remains very funny including some clever gags.
I didn't like the original and even fast forward through it...This film however is recommended and Tommy Wirkola is one to watch out for..!
This movie was a blast. Really nice horror-comedy and better than the first one.

I liked this one so fucking much, fuck!!
With the second part they hit the target, mostly because they finally took with decision the path of absurd/comic/nonsense splatter movie like the great Braindead of Peter Jackson.
Bloody killings, with no sense at all and so fucking funny from which no man nor woman and even kid can escape.
The plot is also more catching and complete, more interesting.
Characters are awesome, especially the Zombie Zquad and the zombie pet.
At the end the door has been kept open for a third movie... let's wait for it.
For now I'm suggesting this one dearly :)
