Deepwater Horizon 2016

It has a lot of unknown oil terms and happenings on the rig that the viewer cannot comprehend. A lot of explosions but i didn't feel the tense throughout the last half hour. The role of BP was greatly undermined.

Such an incredibly intense and heartbreaking movie. It had me cringing, tearing up and kept me on the edge of my seat.

This is an amazing film and would recommend any one to watch this. This film managed to play with my emotions and at the end of the film when the credits started rolling and they showed you the 11 that died from this accident I did get tearful and generally felt sad that such a disaster happened.

A tragic true story, but the film didn't engage me emotionally. Good performances, however, and a worthy testament to those who suffered because of the event.

The ending scene in the hotel really got to me. Part of me going into the film expected the basic hero of the story ending and film where it is all smiles but no this films tell it how it is, shows the real emotions and turmoil as they attempt to get out of the fire from all focal characters. Love this movie and i love the team of Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg

Althougth this has a lot of technical terms going on in the dialogue you understand what was the reason for the catastrophe.

The last 15 min are emotionally intense and when I realised I was watching this on the exact day it happened 7 years ago I was shivering all over.

Peter Berg managed to really surprise me with Deepwater Horizon. It's probably one of the action movies I would rate the highest from 2016.

The story about Deepwater Horizon is a tragic story about corporate greed and human tragedy. The fact that we all know what the end result is makes Bergs job even better, as the challenge of that is one that not many directors manage to overcome.

Deepwater is on one side one hell of an action ride, but what impresses me more is the story and the way it shows us human courage and determination. I know there's probably some artistic freedom attached to some of this, but I know from firsthand experience that when faced with impossible odds, humans can be incredible...

The cast is excellent and has a huge part in making this movie as good as it is. There's really nothing bad to mention when it comes to the acting. I especially liked John Malkovich...he just makes shady characters shine.

In any case, Deepwater Horizon is a must see, and you should really watch it with the volume turned up, as the sound is amazing.

No doubt, a great looking film documenting the events that led to one of the worst accidental oil spills in marine history. Director Peter Berg does an excellent job pacing the film with a palpable, mounting sense of tension with some stunning set pieces. Unfortunately the human aspect of the film resorts to cliches, stereotypes and lacks any real depth thus making the whole experience rather unmemorable despite its impressive cast.

Although it started off a bit slow and I had a hard time understanding some of the technical terms they were using, I really loved and was fascinated by Deepwater Horizon. I didn't know the story because when it happened I was pretty young and I think it's great that they tell this story through a movie so that the people who didn't know much about it understand it better and perhaps get that these "island" aren't so very great for our dear planet.

It was a very intense film and the acting was really good! I'd like to see Malk Wahlberg doing more of these kinds of movies because he is really great. Kurt Russell, Gina Rodriguez and Dylan O'Briend were amazing as well, although I felt like the one female character (Andrea) was a bit of a burned in the end, the acting was great. The explosions were so intense and beautifully made, it made me sit on the edge of my seat.

I really really recommend everyone to watch this movie because apart from it being a great movie it's also a learning experience.

What an amazing movie...and the acting is superb

A very intense movie to watch, in my opinion. Sadly I knew very little about this oil disaster, so this was also very informative to me. Don't quite understand why this movie got only +/- 65% score.

Deepwater Horizon is a compelling and intense film that provides an excellent portrayal of the true environmental disaster that occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. Mark Wahlberg and Kurt Russell deliver exceptional performances, bringing the courage and determination of the real-life heroes who fought to save lives and contain the oil spill to life on the screen. The film's special effects are well-done, immersing you in the chaos and danger of the oil rig explosion. Overall, Deepwater Horizon is a gripping and emotional film that tells an important story and pays tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those who were involved in the disaster.

And the facts are as with most disasters. The money train caused it, and money also protected the perpetrators.

Movies based on real stories like this one are always good. I remember the accident happened when I was a child and didn't how severe it was, but now I do. RIP.

what a beautiful movie full of many feelings that come loose on you especially on the last of the movie.
i love true stories always comes to you full of emotions.
nice story Deepwater Horizon.

I would've loved if they focused on getting the average watcher to the picture and the aftermath after. Focusing solely on explosions is too cliché and no more gives a sense of tension. It's just boring. I hope future real-life events movies could learn from HBO's Chernobyl.

t has been good, well done in terms of image and sound, you feel the anguish, the fire, the brown liquid. Classical start and development of the catastrophe, which is worse to be based on real events

Deepwater Horizon is a really good film that shows the events of April 20, 2010 in a very realistic way in my opinion. I also thought that the movie had just the right running time and was therefore never boring.

loading replies

Too realistic great scenes and very tense..Berg knew exactly how he wanted to be and he achieved it remarkably!

This movie mainly focus on the accident, on the people who died onto the rig and the opposition between the rig workers and BP, but forgot all about the few months of ecological disaster due to the oil spilling and the time needed to seal the well. The director show a lot of respect for the rig workers who lost their lives but almost none for the people, the fauna and flora directly impacted by the ecological disaster. Disappointing.

"Deepwater Horizon" narrates the true story of the disaster of the oil rig "Deepwater Horizon" in 2010.

Peter Berg directs once again a true event and does it very well. The director of "Lone Survivor" brings the right amount of emotion to attach the viewer to the screen.

The cast also does a fantastic job, especially Mark Wahlberg (Oscar nomination?) and John Malkovich.

Although the first act is a little slower than the second and third, is fundamental to the presentantion and development of the characters and meet their motivations.

In the end, "Deepwater Horizon" is a brilliant movie and a beautiful tribute to the people who went through this disaster. Definitely one of the best movies of the year.

Awesome film! Well worth a watch.

The director of Battleship has redeemed himself, surprisingly with 3 Mark Wahlberg movies based on true stories.

6/10 ... Formulaic and utterly predictable but we'll acted, stylised etc. How come Andrea came off the ship without a blemish on her face? I groaned at the sycophantic USA flag and lord's prayer during the rescue scene.

loading replies

This film really touched and upset me, so many similarities between this and the Piper Alpha disaster. So many lives lost in both disasters and I believe no individual has even been prosecuted, wrong, wrong, wrong.

Another thrilling, gripping tale from Peter Berg. There's not as much character development as I'd prefer before the craziness kicks off, but I get a good enough handle on these people trials and tribulations. Good stuff.

A entertaining movie for a slow afternoon, but don't expect much else from it and much the less to be an accurate account of either deep-sea oil drilling or of the actual events that caused the oil rig "Deepwater Horizon", which in fact wasn't directly owned by BP but chartered, to catch fire and sink without sealing its main drilling.

Peter Berg creates another emotional and blue collar story with Deepwater Horizon. The visuals are great and the acting is great with Mark Wahlberg and Kurt Russell being the standouts. Its got the spectacle of a blockbuster with the acting quality and emotion of a drama. One of the more solid films this year.

I don't think I've ever seen such an intense explosion sequence in any movie ever, incredible. Also everything else was way above par, pretty good movie with some solid performances - well worth the view.
