This actually could have been a GOOD Steven Seagal movie; it had all the elements, the story itself was decent (sure, a bit worn but still…), the hand-to-hand fight scenes - for the most part - were good and done by Seagal himself. The one huge drawback that just made this really hard to continue watching was Seagal's attempt at a Russian accent. Ai yi yi.... I'm glad he didn't use an annoying voiceover to do the lines for him but, IMO, had this movie been done with him just being his usual American bad self, everything else would have been very enjoyable. Heck, use the other Russians; no need to change EVERYTHING. But they should have just left Seagal as a John Wick type American dude whose daughter found herself engaged to a Russian mob boss's son. Easy work, and the movie would have been so much more enjoyable. As it was, it was a decent film. There's plenty to pick apart (as is the case with most of Seagal's later D2V movies) but compared to some of the other stuff he's done recently, this was actually very watchable. I recommend you speak Russian, however, to enjoy the full breadth of the movie; there was a lot of it that was spoken in Russian that was lost in translation, but not enough to actually ruin the movie. There were plenty of other things that did that. I'd still give this a watch, if you're a fan of Steven Seagal; he's done a lot worse.

unfortunately a Seagal from the cringe timeline. 99% of all fights either from the front or from behind, never from the total and if then no real fight moves are shown. even when waving the knife he seems completely disinterested. so unfortunately i have to stick to my opinion - exit wounds is the last good film with him.
