El Camino Christmas 2017

What are we gonna do??...Well...We're gonna get a time machine, Billy...And I'm gonna go back in time to when my cousin was dating your mother. And then I'm gonna yank his pecker off, right before he has the chance to create an idiot.

showed on my NF spotlight page for some reason. xmas movie sure? good Xmas movie? yikes. I like a lot of the cast, but this is a turd. Brutal decision making by bumbling and/or drunk morons. I suppose that's the point. Not for me. 3.3

This is a throw away "special Christmas episode" of a poorly written cop series.

From Netflix comes the dark comedy El Camino Christmas. When a rogue sheriff’s deputy chases a suspect into a liquor store on Christmas Eve a hostage crisis and standoff with the police ensues. Starring Tim Allen, Dax Shepard, Kurtwood Smith, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Jessica Alba, the film has an impressive cast that gives solid performances. And the comedy is fairly well-done and features some clever satire. However, the plot is kind of thin and several of the characters are underdeveloped. Yet despite its problems, El Camino Christmas is an entertaining film that delivers some fun laughs.

It's okay at best. Very simple plot, decent cast though.

I ABSOLUTELY loved this movie. Maybe it's cuz I could relate to the real life pain of Tim Allen's character.
Or...its was simply a good story and because people shouldn't expect everything to be a hallmark movie.

I was expecting this to be a stupid movie. I was right.

This one was a tough watch for me. I grew up in a craphole country town full of crooked cops just like this one. Everyone knew they were crooked but would still do exactly what was happening here. In fact, the worst cop in this reminded me of a family member and it made my skin crawl just listening to him cover his own butt. The fact that an innocent man had to die to save another innocent man because he knew the scumbag cops would stick up for each other just made my blood boil. I can't recommend anyone watch this one. There was nothing funny here and nothing enjoyable to watch. Why was this even labeled as being any sort of comedy? Did they think giving it the light and frothy air of a redneck comedy would make us just laugh off what happened? Ugh. Yeah, no...

Some fun moments but could have been better.

Meh. This had promise but fell incredibly short. NOT a Christmas Comedy. You see all the best parts in the trailer. Tim Allen did a great job with his character but you aren't missing anything if you pass on this disaster.

El Camino Christmas

A "Christmas" movie about a man trying to find his estranged dad, whilst being wrongly accused.

This was light on plot and heavy on character moments and clichés.

D'Onofrio and Allen were the stand outs among this well acted film.

Erm... It's not the brightest piece from Netflix. Did I care for the characters? Nope. Is this a comedy? Nope. Is this a drama? Nope. Actually it's a whole mess. When it tried comedy it was cringeworthy (Dax Shepard had some good lines, though), when it turned to drama, it was lame and awkward. Then I looked for some kind of message that El Camino Christmas delivers and all I found was the line from Tim Allen's character: "Truth is a tricky b*tch" which kinda sums up our society in 2017. [spoiler] They should have build on the promising "Truth" theme but they missed it by a country mile and did stuck with the awkardness and the painful, cliché ending. [spoiler]
I wouldn't say this movie was a missed oppurtunity, it's a lemonade. On the other hand the one who seek some funny Christmas-themed comedy will be dissapointed.

Not quite a Christmas turkey, but barely a Christmas miracle either. Strives for significance, but the script is messier than your house after your festive guests have finally gone home. Good to see Tim Allen again, though The Santa Clause is the only festive movie you should be watching with him in.
