Everest 2015

Everest offers a gripping and refreshingly unsentimental reenactment of its grim true-life tale.

#1 reason you won't ever see me even near a mountain

While Everest does remind me a lot of the 1992 film K2; I couldn't help but be compelled by the film through-out. The cast is stellar and if you don't the story it's based on; it has you at the edge of your seat. The film is engaging but also heartbreaking at times.
Of course there's fine work by Jason Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Brolin. It's Sam Worthington who surprised me though with probably the best work of his career.

3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Everest’:

  1. I found the story to be very disjointed, kinda all over the place. Many times, I didn’t know what was going on, where exactly these people were, and who I was looking at.

  2. The visuals were the most impressive aspect of the film. I’d be interested to see how the heck they filmed all of that.

  3. The fact that this is a true story is pretty compelling, but I believe another film could’ve told it better.

How much you wanna make a bet I can throw a football over them mountains??

Even though the film is based on a tragic true story, this is surprisingly uninvolving despite the strong cast involved. There is little here beyond a somewhat formulaic script that seems determined to hit all too-familiar notes and robs the film of any real tension or emotional connection with the characters. Only Brolin and Clarke's characters are given enough development within the film to make you care about them beyond the obvious sympathy for the real people who were involved. Fortunately the film does highlight both the beauty and danger of the environment in which the climbers are working and as they reach the summit, the final hour is a gripping realization of the gradual unease of the characters as weather conditions worsen and the harsh and unforgiving nature of the storm they found themselves in. It is a shame the film offers so little insight into these characters beforehand.

What a boring movie this was. No fun at all.

A good film with decent special effects. A tragic story but with so many characters its hard to warm to.

It's hard to rate this movie because it's based on true events. The plot is not to be judged, the test is acceptable.

This movie has good actors, I like adaptations that are based on real events.

A fantastic film. Impeccable performances by all the actors. A faithful and dramatic portrait of one of the many stories that ended in tragedy on the fearsome Everest

This was brilliantly filmed, brilliantly acted. Has the bonus of being based on a true story. The script was a bit formulaic in parts but this is still a very decent movie.

Great looking and emotive but falls shy of a perfect grade

First off I should say that I find 3D very distracting and wished that the theatre was also showing the 2D version. The scenery was awesome. The telling of the story was meh. A bit over dramatized in places.

A pleasant surprise, it seems that you are climbing the mountain, you feel the cold, the wind, the tiredness. Well told

Now, this movie shows how to perfectly waste immense talent.

Didn't know anything about the people involved, so you can imagine how until the very last minute I was rooting for Rob and hoping he'd open his eyes and go back to his wife. Damn, that last 40 minutes or so was so hard to watch. Impeccable cast., really good movie.

great movie... same with me, it's going to be hard to sleep after this...
I am the type a person who watch all documentaries, movies and books from the one who are so strong on every way you can imagine...and every time I am amaze about how far a humain being would push them self to to see the the top of world only for a 2 minutes

Was quite hard to get sleep after this. Kept me thinking the happenings that this have really happened for someone and to their families. Worked for me, apparently.

Recomendable.

Not a bad movie, but I can´t say I was overly impressed with the story althought it´s bases on actual events. It might sound harsh but I can´t generate pitty for those people because all of them went up willingy fully aware of the risks involved. So for me the lesson from this is you go out and ask nature for a fight you´d better be prepared to pay the ultimate price. Visually it was very impressive though.

When knowing the real story i guess you can expect too much from a movie. At least, that's what happened to me.
I feel disappointed. Sceneries were beautiful obviously but that's all it was for me. I don't know, i'm not satisfied with what they did with the story.

But yeah, it was well done.

The scenery was magnificent but somehow the movie didn't win me. it got better during the end. Chill over the fact that this is a true story

Watching this movie gives me a Chill.

The book was infinitely better. There is a story here, but no clue what really happened, why that did not have to happen and how people think and act in extremes.

Good. But I still like Discovery Channel's "Everest: Beyond the limit" better. Since there, there are no blue screens, no celebs and no CGI but real footage.

amazing yet still would've gone much better and would become greatest movie of the year no doubt on it!

I respect whatever other people do, but I couldn't stop thinking the whole movie «this people are crazy». I know some have to live their lives at the edge but movies like this makes me reaffirm my thoughts about never never defy the nature, and that mountain clearly didn't wanted them there. The movie it's well made and it's heartbreaking, keeps you interested in see the whole thing even if you know how the story ends.

The movie was okay but not exactly what I expected. It was kind of slow but it developed the characters and made me care about them. I thought it did the story justice.

The mark of a good movie is when you leave the cinema, and you keep thinking about it. Well the second the movie was over, I was wikipediaing the heck out of that movie. It is such a compelling story that I found myself researching the actual events. The movie never really had a dull moment, and it was acted really well.

Everest made me feel like I made the climb myself. The whole movie was really intense and compelling. After a few minutes in you already start caring about the characters because they are so credible and played flawless by all the actors. At a certain point the film also get really emotional which really hit me, quit unexpected because the story isn't really new or surprising. Nevertheless my eyes were glued to the screen, mainly due to the gorgeous directing and editing finished off by the outstanding actors.

You would here me say that its a perfect film but I don't have any real problems with it. Everything felt right, the camera work, the setting, the characters, the emotions and the story. They say its a true story, but to be honest I don't really care. Because the film was so well crafted I felt the emotions and not because it 'really happened'.

Who every reads this, please go see Everest in theaters. My theaters was almost empty unfortunately. I promise you, you won't get bored at all!
