This is pure, unadulterated bullshiet. 2/10 Trash
Chris Hemsworth would give John Wick a run for his money.
Much better than 6 Underground which was all fine action and no plot. A plus is when you have a good cast, nice locations and fine action, and no Michael Bay.
I wouldn’t mind seeing more Tyler Rake movies. Hemsworth kicks ass as him. It’s probably his best role next to Thor. He takes on many at once in John Wick like fashion.
I still don’t understand why the Indian ex-special-force who is pretty skilled didn’t try to extract the boy on his own. Hiring a third party then piss them off by not paying them is a bit stupid.
Loved the camera work and the numerous fist and gun fight scenes. The slap on the face of the child-soldier was hilarious :joy:.
I didn’t care too much about the ex-wife and the sick then dead boy backstory. Why are these kind of character always half-alcoholic half-suicidal because they lost a member of their family?!?
All in all an entertaining action movie if you don’t pay too much attention to the script and the use of many cliché .
I liked it! It reminded me of Man on Fire with Denzel Washington.
Directed by long time Marvel stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave, this is what a Michael Bay movie with a competent director would look like. Still has some shortcomings as a movie, but the actual cinematography/camerawork highlights a substantial difference in Bay's inability to frame a scene and properly stress importance.
I would love to see some more fleshed out characters and something beyond just the action, but it's well executed for it is.
Pretty cool action-packed movie. I haven't heard about this movie but I'm grateful I watched it and I was really surprised. The action is pretty cool, the camera is awesome - long no-cut shots, it looks really amazing. You can't expect some interesting plot here. It's just ordinary - ex-marine rescues someone - we saw it many times but it's filmed the way that makes it original. Do you like Chris? Do you like action? Go for it. You won't be dissapointed.
Dozens of good police officers will not return home to their families just because their colonel worked for a drug lord.
I was really impressed by this movie. Contrary to popular comic book movie belief - Chris Hemsworth is a really great actor and so I enjoyed watching him fill out another role. And the talented & gorgeous Golshifteh Farahani is such a breath of fresh air in the hollywood machine. I hope she makes more American movies.
The story is not as cliché-dependent as some action movies can be so that was refreshing. There was the oft-used "friend betrays main character" troupe but that was really it. The combat-choreography is some of the best I've seen since the John Wick franchise.
This movie was off the charts! Amazing action scenes with a solid storyline! What a fantastic first movie for this director! A definite recommend if you are a lover of action films
Surprisingly good for an action flick. It does not avoid cliches but compensates with action scenes and good camera works. And it’s not boring. Solid Netflix choice for a Friday night ;)
That 15 min seems to be one-shot was so awesome choreographed with smooth transition, it was like Winter Soldier on steroids.
I think at the moment its the best action flick that I saw on Netflix. The best thing in this are the great action scenes - they are recorderd from perspektive of the main character which is something I never saw before and it works great. Lots of gun and shootouts, its at times like watching GTA session in first person view^^ Nonstop action and good acting and plot! Recommended!
Perfectly predictable action yarn, but wasn't a bad movie. Had some truly impressive "continous" action scene shots.
A high action film that works, with great visuals, and a cast that does their job.
A captivating film, with well-choreographed, thrilling fight sequences and great performances by the cast, and an engaging, but cliched and predictable, plot.
An incredibly good action film with heart.
"We just got attacked by the Goonies from hell. We made it about four blocks."
First off, I wasn't expecting anything going into this film. It came to my mind, so I watched it. And it was pretty entertaining. I was surprised by how quickly things went into gear in this film; it went straight into it.
This film had notable aspects, and they also helped the film, as a whole, stand on its feet. But there were also other things; they weren't "bad," but I can see why other people would look at them negatively. And while I say "things," that's me being thorough, accounting for "everything" because there probably are other things that some people didn't like about this film. I only noticed one.
There wasn't much of a plot. Plain and simple. It's pretty straightforward, easy to follow, and that, something with barely any substance, was turned into an entire film. Of course, most people probably expected that, and others weren't surprised. This film: action film, through and through. I didn't care, but I can understand why that would be a "bad thing" to some people.
The biggest highlight of this film was by far the action sequences. They were well done: and if they weren't, this film would've flopped. It had nothing else going for it, although who knows how different it would've been if it wasn't an action film. But, as what it was, an action film, the action, being well done, saved it. They made up for any lackluster areas throughout the film. Those involved in the creation of this film understood the assignment. And they delivered. The core of this film was the action: nothing more, nothing less.
Its second-biggest highlight, I'd say, was the camera work. It was creative. Usually, something like that never sticks out to me. There were instances where you'd realize it even if you couldn't care less about something like that, aka me. But it was well done and added a lot to the experience. Now, combine that with the choreography and direction of the action sequences: you're in the film.
The score was also good. I'm pretty sure I read someone bringing up Inception. I was thinking of scores you'd hear in the Modern Warfare video games, and I suppose that kind of sound is pretty similar to scores by Hans Zimmer. So, that tracks. Yet it wasn't that identical-sounding, just reminiscent. Henry Jackman and Alex Belcher give it a distinctive twist.
The acting was decent on all fronts. The actors who had elevated moments regarding that were Chris Hemsworth, Rudhraksh Jaiswal, and Randeep Hooda. The latter of which was the highlight for me. Not only that, his character was on par with Chris's character and brought most of the excitement to the film alongside each other.
The cinematography was good in some areas with good shots. At the same time, I feel like it was lacking. More specifically, lacking "something." I feel like it looked too bleak and grainy sometimes, and it's 100% not because of India being the primary filming location. With good cinematography comes making something somewhat subpar looking into something good looking; making something already good looking into something even better looking. It seems like Newton Thomas Sigel had his work cut out for him. But he also came up short.
Regarding positives and negatives, I guess this film is half-and-half. But the most important thing to note is that the positives are radiant. So having said that, I don't think the negatives were that impactful on the film and certainly not on its enjoyment. At least for me.
This film is by no means one of the best films ever. But it gets the job done/it got the job done. It was thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable to watch, and I look forward to the second film. I hope it's even better, especially the action sequences.
Here are my other thoughts:
I thought the title card looked cool and slick. Green was an interesting choice of color to use. I haven't seen that before. But it made it look even better.
Golshifteh Farahani has quite good-looking eyebrows. A slightly odd thing to say, I know. But it had to be said. Oh, and she is quite good-looking, too. I hope her character is more prominent in the second film since she wasn't that prominent in this one.
I was surprised to see Adam Bessa. I'm sure most people have no idea who he is. I saw him in Season 3/the final season of Prime Video's Hanna. I'm guessing his role in this film had to do with being cast in the show.
I've read that loads of people thought Tyler beating up the kids was hilarious, and I don't get it. I guess I can understand why, but I was indifferent towards that scene. Maybe knowing about it before watching the film made me expect it was more violent.
Talk about being expressionless. Amir Asif pretty much was poker-faced throughout the whole film. I guess you could attribute that to his cold-hearted nature. At the same time, it was a bit comical. All hell is breaking loose, and everything is going wrong for him, and he's still poker-faced.
Geez. Talk about lengthy end credits. Once the film was over, I saw that there was still a chunk of space left to watch, so I watched it, assuming there was maybe a post-credits scene. Nope. Well, I wasted time doing that.
a descent action movie with good perfomances.
The movie starts well but somewhere the plot really goes down badly. Too many kills without a reason.
The main character has no reasons to save the boy, no moral or principles.
Bad one.
It’s ideas are nothing new and out of the ordinary. But it’s gripping action scenes made it difficult to to extract myself from the sofa.
pure action genre. I am not into that just watched it for chris. pretty senseless too( most of joe russo films are that way but we agree on terms of superhero). Actress golshifteh was pretty good too. If you play pubg or COD watch this movie else just give it a pass.
'Extraction' is a fun popcorn action movie.... but man does it get brutal.
The best compliment I can give to this movie, besides the action scenes, was having the balls to harm or flat out kill children, which took me by surprise, but immediately got my attention.
The action scenes are the highlight of the movie, of course. I know this is a tired phrase when it comes to movies with a grand spectacle, but some of the action scenes in this movie really did feel like a video game. I think it has to do with the 11-minute-long take, camera work, and the intense detail to action set pieces that was executed wonderfully. The fight scenes and shoot outs have not been this sharp in a while.
Chris Hemsworth is a strong leading man, while also displaying some dramatic acting chops. The actor, who played the boy, was not as annoying as I thought he will be. Also, David Harbour is an absolute beast, especially next to Hemsworth.
However, it does have some problems. The main villain is so paper thin and forgettable that when the movie ends, you are not going to remember him.
I do not get why in these Hollywood action movies where foreign countries have this ugly colour palette. This movie is no different, even down to the same colour, which is muddy piss.
The movie has a plot, just a simple one. It is cliched as well, with the main character (Hemsworth) losing his son many years ago in a galaxy far far away. You've seen this trope before. Then again, the audience are not here for deep storytelling. Just give them action and they will be entertained. There is nothing wrong with that.
Overall rating: Solid entertainment, which is what we need right now, especially at this strange time of our lives.
Enjoyed it. The action was solid... Thumbs up!!!
I had a great time watching it and I was suffering at the end if Tyler will survive. I think we all were.
Chris Hemsworth In Extraction - A Mercenary Proficient With Any Tool He's Given & He's Tasked To Retrieve The Son Of A Drug Kingpin Who Has Been Kidnapped By His Rival - From The Start I Loved The Premise Of The Story & Adding Chris Hemsworth To The Mix Is A Big Plus From Netflix - Thankfully This Turned Out To Be The Huge Action Packed Thriller That I Expected It To Be With A John Wick/Man On Fire Mix To It That I Wasn't Expecting - Nonstop Bad Guys With Twists And Turns, It Isn't The Best Action Movie But It Is A Fun One - John Wick Is Still Better But I Liked This Movie - I Think They Didn't Fully Take Advantage Of Chris Hemsworth's Charm Other Then His Size In This Case But Still A Fun Movie & If You Like Action Movie Like I Do Then This Is A Must See
I liked the guy and the movie, given me what I expected, fights, shootings, action scenes well done
I didn't know that I'm watching John Wick 4!
John would be proud of you, Thor!
A 2h long action scene but with good camera work.
the action is amazing, wouldn't go so far as to say John Wick level but it comes close cuzz you can see in what's happening! Sam Hargrave's direction was awesome, but i wanted to see more of his character in screen, but seeing as they killed hemsworth and hooda he didn't have much of a chance.
Decent one time watch. They didn't invest much into character development or nuance and the film gets right to the point, seems a bit rushed. Also what I found strange was all the Bollywood music playing instead of local Bangla music in scenes where music was heard....
This film reminded me a lot of the Denzel Washington film 'Man on fire'....
If this didn't star Chris Hemsworth, or had a director who doesn’t know what he's doing behind the camera, this would be your average Jason Statham movie.
In other words: it fails to make you care on any level besides the action sequences.
If that's enough for you, then this movie does everything what you want it to do very well.
I personally can't recommend a movie with both a generic plot, and empty shells of characters on top of that.
5/10
Well, I wasn’t expecting that. The cinematography during the action sequences were fantastic.
Pleasantly surprised!
I think the comparisons to John Wick are missing the point. The only thing they have in common is that they're both excellent action movies directed by former stunt performers. John Wick is ultra-stylized, while Extraction is gritty and realistic. Both great action movies, but very, very different.
Chris Hemsworth summoning his inner John Wick is this brutal action flick by debuting director Sam Hargrave. There isn't much in the story but man, the action just won't stop apart from a few breathers. Kids getting beat up, thrown off buildings, one action scene that is about 20 minutes long with car chases, fights, more chases and it goes on and on in a good way!
This was also the first time I saw Randeep Hooda and he is a bad ass! Hopefully he will be in more action flicks! And how about Golshifteh Farahani looking stunning while holding a rocket launcher! And hooray for Rudhraksh Jaiswal for not being the regular annoying action flick kid and holding his own!
The final action set piece is also something to behold! Such a great shoot-out. Anyway Extraction will not disappoint you if you like action flicks. Netflix has done well this time!
Ps. I'm down for some more action movies with Chris in the lead!
This movie is just pure adrenaline, though predictable at times the story and the action just kept me captivated the entire time. Chris Hemsworth (Tyler) was so great in this film giving an action-filled performance with a lot of emotion behind it as well, also both Randeep Hooda (Saju) and Rudhraksh Jaiswal (Ovi) are perfect in this film as they play their roles perfectly.
The action in this film is something to behold and I know a lot of people compare this to John Wick, but honestly, this film's action can stand on its own and though not as good as a John Wick film it really has some really great sequences with one sequence looking like its all done in one take and it blows your mind while watching it.
Sam Hargraves has a very bright future in directing the action as he seems very masterful behind the camera and his experience in stunts definitely helps him to be able to craft amazing sequences, definitely would love to see a crossover with John Wick as I imagine the style and story would mesh perfectly.
Give this film a watch and strap in for a really fun action film!!!!!!!!!!!
It's just dumb mindless killing from Thor.
The long shot is the only highlight.
Rated a Connor 10, normal 8
:heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart: - Excellent fights scenes, amazing directing feels like you’re right inside the action.

seeing Chris Hemsworth in an action setting was fun, and it had some crazy camera movement + the choreo was good, this man can F I G H T.
Typical crappy Netflix fare. Not sure how they manage to make an action flick this dull
12min in a single take!!!
Absolutely fantastically Awesome action movie
Extraction is hands down one of the best Netflix original movies out there. The film has a great plot that keeps you engaged throughout and is backed up by some of the most exciting action scenes you'll ever see. From car chases to intense gun battles, Extraction is an action-packed thrill ride that never lets up. But it's not just mindless action, the movie also manages to balance the action with character development and emotional weight. Overall, a highly entertaining film with all the attributes of a great action movie.
was really interested in this because of Bangladesh plot...Chris was great..love to see him doing well other than Thor as I always watched him in that role....some side actors did well too...last but not least Dhaka is not that yellowish city....
Written and produced by the Russo brothers, Extraction is an exciting action film. Chris Hemsworth stars as a mercenary who’s part of a team hired to rescue the son of a crime lord who’s been kidnapped by one of his rivals, but when things go bad and he’s told to cut and run he disobeys order and attempt to get the kid to safety. Hemsworth gives an incredible performance; delivering some extraordinarily gritty and intense fight scenes. And director Sam Hargrave does a remarkable job at making the action sequences fresh and dynamic, and uses the sets and locations especially well. Extraction is a high-adrenaline film that delivers a lot of thrills.
Extraction is more action-oriented than attaching great importance to story and giving the characters depth.
Nevertheless, I didn't think the movie was bad at all. With the action as a good-supporting element, the summarized quite short plot has at least not harmed the movie.
Somehow I had to think of Solid Snake.
'Hey Snake! This is a rescue mission!'
One is sent in, clarifies the complete situation and leaves again. However, the infiltration mission here was far less tactical and much more conspicuous. With a lot of shooting and noise, a small war is sparked because of a boy.
Ultimately, I had to be ashamed to have a parallel to Solid Snake in mind at the beginning of the film. Well... La Li Lu Le Lo
My word that was a lot of violence.
This really felt a lot like Rambo made for modern audiences with some John Wick sensibilities added in. I was afraid this might be some sort of jingoistic military propaganda tinged film, but our main character was textured just enough to feel grounded and his main foil/frenemy also had some layers to him to give this action flick a tiny bit of nuance. The action is all pretty exquisitely done and there's not a lot of down time. Action fans should really enjoy this. Hemsworth fans may want to exercise caution unless you're ok with a ridiculously high body count.
The script is very simple and totally predictable. Very good action scenes. Entertaining to watch.
This film got passed on by me, I just thought that it would be a bad generic and boring Netflix movie. Due to everyone comparing it to John Wick, my attention was gained and I got really surprised. It really is kind of generic and cliche, but the action scenes - the most import aspect in this type of movie, for me at least - are great!
The story has nothing new to offer, the plot you’ve seen it before: rescue someone in a third world country and that’s about it. The main protagonist doesn’t have any unique characteristic as well. He is the type that apparently lost someone really close and has been broken ever since. He doesn’t fear anything cause in a way he just wants do die. Even though with these cliches, Chris Hemsworth delivers an energetic, compromised and physical performance. Especially in the action scenes, really good.
Now, into the best aspect of Extraction: its action, wow, it’s impressive. The fights and the shooting have a great rhythm and physicality. They’re so dynamic. You can feel - and hear! - bones being crushed and damage being made, amazing choreography in the fights. Sam Hargrave knows what he is doing, he did a lot of works along the Russo brothers including several Marvel films - Cap stuntman by the way!. Chris’s work elevates and allows these action scenes to get even better, the not so much use of stuntmen makes a huge difference in the belief to what we’re watching.
Another aspect that really impressed me was the camera movement. It is dynamic and at the same time it doesn’t shake too much and neither have excessive cuts like a lot of movies to a point you cannot understand what you’re watching. It is really fluid. There’s even some long plans and an awesome one that goes from shooting some guys, then there’s fist fights, the camera jumps along side the protagonist and enters in the car while he is driving and shit happening, it’s insane!
The ending could’ve been better. And I don’t mean that I was hoping for something out of the box, it is just the way the the protagonist was “killed”. If they wanted to keep him alive, he could have just been shot in anywhere else but his neck. Kind of hard to survive that, I believe.
I’m loving these action films directed by former stunts coordinators - like Chad Stahelski and David Leitch. These guys really know what they’re doing, keep it coming!
Basically it's FarCry 4
Neither very good nor very bad, it is acceptable
How is it always in this kind of movies, one man army faces with an actual army of bad guys. It is very implausible for one or two men to actually defeat the army which were against them. One man killed around 200 (?) men in an hour and a half?
Besides that, I liked the movie. The story was decent, great action and effects. I think it is worth your time.
Average story, but great action.
oh look .. a stuntman by trade, turned director can make great action scenes. go figure ;)
This film was alright. It had superb cinematography and amazing acting but I feel like the story was the same as any old action movie. There's nothing new and fresh to see here
All out action! Just what I was looking for when I put it on. Very John Wick but had its own twist. Great setting, reminded me of Call of Duty should they ever produce a film from their franchise!
Non stop action John wick like movie
A very well done action film. There are some great filming techniques which on top of being interesting weren't wasted. I mean it's one thing to find a new perspective to film an action scene but it's another to make that perspective relevant to the film. It works here. The action is pretty great with a few gratuitous example. It suffers from the Hollywood style of who cares about blocking but no more than any other hollywood movie and this one less than many. Good enough that I'd definitely watch a sequel and that's what takes it from 7 to 8.
Really positively surprised. Expected a regular random action movie, but I felt like everything was on point here : acting (although as a Hemsworth fan I might be biased), story (loved the ending), filming (those long takes during action scenes, wow <3 ).
The storyline isn't the most flawless or innovative, but given the genre it's not a big issue. This is a very good action movie that will keep you alert and entertained. I'm giving it a very solid 7
Watched ..but was not good for story but good for action...btw if ur CHIRS fan then u should watch it :smirk:
This was a nice solid minimalistic action movie. Nothing too fancy, but well produced and shot. Chris did the movie an extra solid. Would say a 7.2.
A whole lot of people shooting each other and dying to save the kid of some douchebag who's important for some reason, I guess.
The action is nice, but it struggles to give you someone to root for.
Ridiculous plot and twists, but great action.
action-packed. I love it. Yeah, story's too cliché but it was entertaining.
I do have mixed feelings towards this film, but by the end I think the positives/negatives level out to make for good viewing.
The cast are fine. Chris Hemsworth is obviously the standout, though Randeep Hooda and Priyanshu Painyuli are also noteworthy here. Those three, and a few others, give more than solid performances but I don't feel like they are anything extraordinary - mainly due to other factors.
That also matches how I feel about the action. I enjoyed a lot of it in truth, a number of the deaths are pretty nicely done, though the editing/cinematography comes out odd in parts... yet it does still weirdly work.
The set designs are something I, flat out, don't rate in 'Extraction'. All of the major scenes in that regard feel fake, like they've been created from scratch to look like a war zone... à la what you get in video games, comes across too rigged.
This film's premise isn't the most original, you've seen it all before and it can feel dragged out, though this still makes for a mostly enjoyable experience.
i liked the gunplay and the cinematography, tough the plot have some cons
I was torn remembering Chris Hemsworth not as Thor but as the character in 12 Strong. Hasn't he done this before?
A solid action film. And some really clever stunt work. I think films like this are the closest we'll ever get back to Commando or Rambo. It's a shame as there's little heart to these movies today - sure the characters have dialogue and that dialogue moves the plot and tells us the emotions being felt. But we don't feel them ourselves.
Where's the homo-erotic anger of Bennett vs Matrix? The nastiness of the sheriff against a hapless Rambo?
Anyway, enjoyable enough action flick.
7.25/10
Very good, the action was amazing but the final was very very bad
Resisted until today to see this movie. I knew it was an action flick with small opportunity for dialog, yet the short moments you have a conversation, it's satisfying.
The drama and the redemption match the superb choreographed action that kept my eyes glued to the screen the entire movie.
Wow. I really love this action movie. It's like Call On Duty. My time watching this is worth it.
it was a real pleasure to watch
Chris Hemsworth bitch slaps Indian kids... Man I loved this :joy:
2 hours to take the boy out India. I bet I'd do it faster.
John Wick Indian version 8,0
Wow. I'm exhausted! Go Chris. Much respect.... 8/10.
very entertaining movie. there's not much in the way of story, but there's a whole lot of action. very nice
That one-take action scene was absolutely phenomenal.
Well that was a decent action packed picture with a solid performance from ‘Thor’ god of thunder and the storyline was simple but definitely strong beginning till end.
Extraction is like one-size-fits-all sneakers: a little too long and a little too generic but it'll get you where you're going.
Basically, I could've overlooked the predictable parts if the action had been original, or I could've overlooked all the clichés of the story if the movie had moved along at a constant pace (like Hardcore Henry or Crank). But both of these together is like water in gasoline.
Excellent movie. Really enjoyed the action. Hemsworth was excellent. :thumbsup_tone1:
Excellent action movie. Hemsworth is an action master. Superb action. Make sure you have the subtitles for foreign language parts. :thumbsup_tone1:
Shitty plot, great one-shot fight scene.
John Wick goes to Bangladesh.
I am one to dislike action movies. Too much unrealistic fighting, invincible hero, and flying cars for me.
But this is different.
It's raw, brutal, angry. Beautifuly coreographed. Fights are as real as they can get in a movie, and feel like Liam Neeson in our beloved Taken (1 of course). Hemsworth is excellent.
I didn't like 6 Underground BS movie, I don't watch Jason Statham, and can't stand Michael Bay (accept Bengahzi actually) and any DC/Marvel crap. But I loved this.
Highly recommended.
This is a good action movie. Lots of fun and violent kills.
What would happen if Hollywood and Bollywood came together, and had a love child?
This cliche-filled, piece of crap!
I seriously need to stop losing my time with this shit people call movies these days
A solid action flick, with some well-directed thrills. a compelling narrative, and a standout turn from Hemsworth.
That guy is so powerful that he controls the army and police, he could just walk into the school and grab the kid anytime.
Surprisingly interesting. I always like Bollywood cum Hollywood movies.
Chris Hemsworth for me did more than I have seen he do before.
it was a nice watch. very good movie
Those gun sounds are amazing.
Hw to play video or download it
Chris nailed it all the action sequences but a plot would have been nice! Chris Hemsworth trapped in a mediocre script, which is not only shot in India but looks and feels like a bollywood movie. Not to say that all bollywood movies are bad. But, this looked like a wannabe mission impossible made in India. Like i said action is good, but there is nothing that keeps you hooked and make this an enjoyable ride. Recommended for bang-bang action lovers.

07/10.
This is a cliche-filed solid action movie with crazy gunfight sequences. It lacks a good narrative but the thrilling action makes up for it.
If you are looking for nuance there are tons of Dramas out there. It is not trying to be one of those films. This is an action movie as advertised.
