just boring, and full of cringe love moments
the actors had no chemistry whatsoever
i mean even the movie idea had no sense !
I am a sucker for the rom-com genre and as predictable as this movie is, I like it, because let's be honest, most movies in this genre are very predicable.
Classic girl meets boy scenario. Hate/love kind of thing that eventually develops in true love destined to happen (speaking in the clichés of a true rom-com).
Small town full of cheery people with the exception of one who by the end of it still manages to capture your heart. Gabriela and Jake are adorable, the chemistry was there. Nice pace to the story and of course the satisfaction of a very very very happy ending.
Why would you cast someone with an Australian accent in a romcom that is has the whole "running away to New Zealand" as a key feature? And then he wears denim jackets and denim shorts?
And then most unrealistic of all - a small NZ town with a volunteer fire brigade with a proper fire engine, and a doctor. And a Series 1 Landrover with a handbrake that works?
The movie itself is pretty standard romcom stuff - life collapses, move to new life, meet new person, have rocky relationship, and then finish the movie.
This movie is so predictable and bad but I kinda liked it. Netflix give us more Adam Demos please!
I did not expect anything from this movie and that's what it was. It's okey but nothing special. Perfect for a rainy day if there's nothing else to watch. Lovely to hear a kiwi accent for once.
I think it's cute and all but the ending seems rushed to me, idk.

Trying to get through this one but the lead character is so obnoxious. She's in constant attack mode with the love interest for what seems like no reason. She goes off on him about mansplaining at a point when he wasn't actually mansplaining anything. He was just trying to tell her that the wrench she has isn't going to work. It just makes her seem abrasive, rude, and unlikeable. I honestly want to tell him to find someone else to fall for because she's not a pleasant person to spend time with.
Nothing new here, just standard RomCom fare (I think this is the only genre that feels that is enough). On a side note, it was good to revisit the Kiwi cast from other productions. I give this film a 7 (standard) out of 10. [RomCom]
The cheesy love story i have been looking for. Fun and emotional to watch.
If you loved Leap Year prepare to watch its little brother. I have to admit I'm a sucker for this kind of films, and I really enjoyed this one but the thing that kept nagging me was the fact that it was so stupid at times. I understand that this is a romcom but at what point do we call grown people acting stupid "comedy"? I also don't find Adam Demos attractive, so the whole dreamy contractor vibe wasn't working for me, but that's personal.
Nevertheless, I can't say I didn't enjoy it because I did.
Come on you guys with the low ratings -- don't be so critical and snobbish. Enjoy the sweet love story and beautiful scenery of New Zealand. The village and the residents were charming. Makes you want to live there. So what if it was somewhat predictable. The lead couple was attractive and made you root for them. The story was simple, entertaining, and satisfying, with a happy ending. As for the film overall, I found it refreshing because there was no swearing and vulgarity.

The Good:
The goat is the only funny thing about this film.
There can never be too many films set and filmed on New Zeeland.
The Bad:
The acting is horrendous and the characters are tiresome stereotypes.
We are supposed to like Gabriela and Jake, but since they lack any onscreen chemistry and their relationship develops in implausible ways, it's just not happening.
Most of the writing is childish in a way that is not funny or adorable but rather annoying.
The story holds back on the inevitable for so long it turns boring. We know Gabriela and Jake will end up together, there's no point in trying to deny the obvious for so long just to prolong the plot.
There are a couple of subplots that run dry before they've even got off properly.
Not even a feel-good atmosphere and friendly Kiwis can save a clichéd, generic and predictable plot.
Apart from a few laughs brought by Gilbert the Goat this film lacks any substantial emotional depth.

It's funny how all these romance movies are exactly the same and yet we still keep watching them. The truth is, we all know what is going to happen before we even watch the movie. But we still watch and still somewhat enjoy them even though they're overly cheesy and predictable. My biggest take away: I want to go to New Zealand!
