Perfect ending to the first 4 films and I wish they stopped here

@johnohol - damn them for aiming for a cohesive story and creating characters and situations we can invest in. Maybe try Gone in 60 Seconds; it had fast cars and was shit. Pitch perfect.
@edi - you're right it's a 7-7.5 but wrong about The Eiger Sanction.
With all of the main cast members from all previous four films joining together in Fast Five the fifth film in the franchise is top of the line pure epicness. With the addition of Dwayne Johnson Fast Five builds upon Fast & Furious format of less street racing and adds more car chases and now the element of a heist film. Fast Five continues to remain a little dark in its plot-line like its predecessor Fast & Furious but throws some extra comedy in the mix again like the earlier films in the franchise. Thus far Fast Five is my favorite in the series and if the trend continues hopefully the next film in the series will be even better.
Why do I keep watching these sequels? Oh, right, the first scene with the bus, never mind. (And Jordana Brewster too).
THe three fugitives, Mia, her boyfriend and former FBI agent O'conner, and her brother Dom, are on the run again. In RIo this time. O'Conner takes a bad job that gets them stuck between a Rio businessman who wants his property and an elite government team that's hunting them and led by a character played by Dwayne Johnson. There's also an interesting (if not surprising) Mia subplot and a RIo female cop/Dom relationship subplot.
I always forget how surprisingly (for an action flick) good these movies in the Fast and Furious franchise can be. There's all the action, seriously hard core action. Flying off cliffs, gun fights, an awesome fist fight between Johns and Vin Diesel. And then there are caring and gentle scenes that are actually done really, really well. And stuff that's subtle, not your typical action flick fare, but nice.
I do wish that we got to see more of Rio, or at least some of the scenery in general at a slower pace. 'Cause the movie was most definitely a high octane, fast paced movie.

they had to make five to make it right... the best one.
Probably one of the best in the franchise. The stunts, practicality, camerawork, editing, it's just action on top of action. The soundtrack, the cast, and the overall plot is just fitting. It all fits and creates a vibe you only really get from the Fast franchise. It really is a head banging, seat sliding, restless experience. It did feel a little long to me because it was one constant getting pushed back and forth for 2 hours. Half the cast don't even have to act well. They usually just look pretty and fly head first into oncoming traffic but survive or come back in the next. That is the definition of this movie. I'd also say they took a risk as this is less of a street racing movie and more a high stake heist. A risk that was worth it. Took the franchise up a notch.
Cars and guns. Pretty much what you'd expect.
I mean for what it is it's a lot of fun. They bring everyone together for one bombastic adventure. It's a lot of fun. I completely forgot they tried to give Dominic a new love interest. Oh that's Don Omar.. well Leo and Santos are great comic fun.
I do think it's funny that at one point they have a car race to get a car.. and this franchise is so lost in it's ways even now that they just skip the race. "Let's race car for car" :cut: Next scene with the race over.
Of the mainline series, this is surely the best one aside from the original. It mixes the core essence of the original with the absurdity of the newest films. While I still prefer Hobbs & Shaw to this, this is a must see for fans of the series and worthwhile of checking out even if you aren’t.

One of my favorite films not only in the saga but of all-time. The film took the saga to a whole new level with more cool cars and unique action scenes then ever seen before, as it picks up right where #4 picked stopped as the crew rescue Dom from imprisonment just to go on the run again until they find an opportunity to buy their freedom but not before they have to evade a new lawman. The plot development was spot on and the new characters introduced are a great addition.
Like Fast and Furious in the dictionary: pretty straightforward and self explanatory, but the definition of what the franchise means.
My favorite installment of the whole "Fast & Furious" franchise is and always will be "Fast Five". In my eyes, it was definitely the right decision for the films to leave the street races behind from this point on. Instead, the focus is on a heist plot à la "Ocean's Eleven", which provided a much-needed breath of fresh air in the series, at least for a short while. The action, the music, and the all-star cast from the previous installments, plus The Rock, really kick ass. The quality of "Fast Five" is probably already the maximum you can get out of this kind of movie. In any case, I only became a huge fan of the series after this film.
Definitely the best movie in the franchise
The first 15 minutes of this are more entertaining than the first four movies combined. There's really no time to get bored with this one, it manages to be thrilling both with and without the car sequences. The Rock is probably the best star they could bring in to revamp the franchise, he was awesome and steals Diesel's spotlight more than once. Happy to see Ludacris and Tyrese too, their characters are more lighthearted. The acting is still questionnable but the character interactions and dynamics feel more fluid than it's ever been before. I was never bored with the story it's always captivating. Thankfully, they brought back the family theme that made the first special and they need to keep it in the future. Third act is pure over-the-top action fueled on fun, even if most of it doesn't use any gravity/force of impact law... or any law, really. Exciting mid-credit scene.
Japanese title: Wild Speed MEGA MAX
This is the one with the Ocean's-style heist, where the gang tears up the city with a vault attached to their rides, bouncing it around like a bar of soap.
The formula is essentially the same as the last flick, but this time they put aside most pretenses of seriousness in favor of one-liners and tongue-in-cheek overblown action. The supporting characters from the previous films, whom we had already forgotten about, also come together to form a team of misfits with no real purpose. Justin Lin’s obsession with Han is still a mystery. He keeps doing prequels to keep him alive so that he can… eat chips?
The over-the-top action sequences have finally hit that sweet spot of trashy goodness and visual impact enough to distract from the cringe-worthy writing and directing. Even the terrible acting serves its purpose in this context. It's a shame that The Rock's role as the good cop was a bit of a letdown. They could have given him more screen time, but as usual, the family always requires a baddie that’s even worse than they are to justify their morally questionable actions.

Guilty pleasure score: 7.5 with sparse 8.5 moments

As a fan of the Fast and Furious franchise, I can confidently say that this movie is one of the best in the series. The high-speed car chases, explosive action scenes, and well-choreographed fight sequences are all expertly executed, making for an incredibly thrilling viewing experience. The chemistry between the cast is also a highlight of the film. Vin Diesel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and the rest of the ensemble deliver strong performances, and their banter and camaraderie add an extra layer of enjoyment to the movie.
If you watch these movies more than once, you realize how truly corny they are.
It could be the great finale
I love all the characters in this franchise. But. Tyrese Gibson's character (Roman Pierce ) is my favourite. Every time the dude comes on screen, we are guaranteed an awesome one liner or an epic dialogue.

First of all: I like the nice continuation of the last movie! It was great that they already teased the rescue of Dom at the end of the last movie but only showed the full scene at the beginning of this movie. That way the last movie had a satisfying ending and this movie can continue right where the last one ended. Well done :)
Hobbs is cool new character and a good fit for Dom :D It's also nice to see Han back (even though it sucks that he won't remain around - unless they make him survive the car crash in Tokyo).
In fact, it's awesome to see the whole team reunited. Brian, Dom, and Mia are of course the most important but there are so many cool additional characters. E.g., Geisele is pretty cool, Elena is nice, and Rome is pretty funny. And of course the important family aspect (from the Toretto's) is back and more prominent now.
It was also interesting how they had to deal with Hobbs and Reyes at the same time. That double attack was kinda fun.
And it's lovely how Hobbs and Dom kinda bonded after Dom saved Hobbs' live. It was nice when Hobbs said that he's in.
And it looks like Letti's still alive? Not sure if that's a good or bad thing but at least for Dom it should b e a good thing. Stretches the story a bit more though.
Given what this franchise is, this is pretty much the perfect version of a Fast and Furious movie.
It isn’t some cinematic masterpiece, it’s still riddled with poor acting, laughable dialogue and underdeveloped characters, but it’s entertaining as hell.
The Rock is the perfect addition to this franchise, and I like that they got Ludacris and Tyrese back, as they help with elevating the tone as well.
The action is a lot less grounded than before, which works because it allows for more creativity and unpredictability.
It’s just great schlock, a perfect guilty pleasure.

You take the original team, add Dwayne Johnson and a heist, and you’ve got another great movie. Lots of action, cars+, but still the right amount of heart and familia. I give this film an 8 (great) out of 10. [Action] watch through to the end of the credits - a promising return.

Didn't know the prison was near Pawnee? Perd Hapley doing the broadcast and all that!
Anyway, no one would think that Dom would reach prison right? Glad they got him out! Fast Five is the one where my love for this franchise starts, Dwayne Johnson as Hobbs is perfectly cast, having everyone return, the post-credit scene with Letty's picture, the train-heist, the real heist, destroying half of Rio, the Vin Diesel/Dwayne Johnson fight, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce hitting all the right notes, Matt Schulze returning as Vince! Sung Kang still being as cool as ever as Han, just the whole cast together works. The stunts look good, the unintentional jokes, the final 30 minutes, the soundtrack and Justin Lin just made it all come together.
Fast Five is really top-notch from minute 1 until the post-credit scene. It will never get old for me and made me look out for every next entry. Fast Five was the real kick-off of this epic franchise. Love it!

Not saying this is my favorite because it takes place in Brazil, but it is my favorite one of the series for sure. You can tell that this is where the craziness started getting out of hand but at least in Fast Five they still balance it pretty well. My only minor gripe is that they didn't get actual Brazilians to be the bad guys and when they speak portuguese it is either bad or heavy ADR.
What a film! Great popcorn action, beautiful cinematography and amazing stunts. That final scene felt like a transformers movie with no transforming. Amazing.
This is where the fun begins. I love the familia teaming up for the big heist. The Rock is the perfect cop to try and fin Vin Diesel. The action is great and there is a lot of fun set pieces. It's a little long but still a lot of fun.
The Fast and Furious universe is brought together in the high-octane thrill ride Fast Five, which only gets more action-packed in the Extended Edition. On the run from the law O'Conner and Toretto pull a train job in Brazil, but when they're betrayed they put a crew together in order to bankrupt the crime boss that set them up. The cast has incredible chemistry (The Rock especially), making for some really interesting character dynamics; which are enhanced by the added scenes. And, the action sequences are extraordinarily well-staged and exciting. The Fast Five: Extended Edition kicks the series into high-gear and doesn't let up.
This is where the true insanity begins. I mean I know the others weren't realistic, but the ascent to surreal genius is almost upon us.
loved how they brought THE ROCK into this franchise, the way they did was perfect. this movie changed the course of this #FastFamily universe.

this got to be one of my fav in this entire franchise.
I wasn't expecting much from this...but WOW. In my honest opinion I would say that it is the best Fast & Furious movie to date.
Mesmo com o DESERTO NO RIO DE JANEIRO e a dublagem quando os personagens falam português não serem muito boas, o Fast Five consegue ser um dos melhores filmes da franquia.
O ponto baixo do filme pra mim, tirando a sequencia dos Mustangs puxando o cofre, em que a CGI e a física são meio mal feitas, foi o vilão que não é muito bem construído. No final do filme você tem mais motivos pra não gostar do Zizi, o capanga do Reyes, do que do próprio "chefão".

"check your brain at the door" 100% terrible movie BUT! I would watch it again. This is one of those movies that is so stupid you can't help but laugh and that is what makes it great.
The only REAL problem with this movie (besides everything being completely unrealistic safe) is it tries to make you care abut the characters and does a poor job of it. With a movie like this no one cares if a baby gets run over. This is one of those testosterone macho flix we don't like it we you interrupt our explosions blood and gore to make us "feel things"
I cried when I saw T2 and the robot said bye bye. I think when I watch movies like Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Vanilla Sky, Basic, The Matrix, others were deeper but I can't recall them at the moment.. This movie needs to NOT try an make you think and be content with being a stupid BUT ENTERTAINING piece of crap. If you are on the fence let me say this 1. Paul Walker cant act to save his life 2. It's stupid but I liked it WATCH IT:)

Diesel vs. The Rock that was something the movie-world wanted to see.
Great action, awesome camera work, great performing cast (except this latin thug who doesn't want to die) & a solid story result in 2h good entertainment.
BUT... boy this movie has a lot of bloopers, make sure to switch your mind off from the very beginning.
The stinger after the credits makes you really curious about "Fast and the Furious 6" comming 2013 - and yes The Rock is on board again :)

Dwayne Johnson against Vin Diesel.... It's hard to pick a winner if those two fight. Awesome movie, i have never seen a car chase quite like the one in this movie. This one is the best of the 5 movies that has come out so far.
Yup, again a very solid Fast and the Furious movie... This one is really good, full of action, a few new characters, awesome ending too... It has everything it needs... xD
