Anyways, this movie sucked tbh. Not because it was unrealistic, not because several things and ppl defied physics and shit like, all of that is to be expected w an action film, especially any in the Fast and Furious franchise but,
the script writing and delivery honestly sucking sucked. Fast X is supposed to be the beginning of the end of the franchise, but they were doing waaaaaaaaaaay too fucking much. introducing characters as part of the "family" that we haven't seen before, John cena dying as a sacrifice, tej and roman's lame ass scuffle, han and shaw's fight ... which ultimately ends up with a nonsensical "now we're even" line delivered by statham even though... his character shaw tried to and thought he killed han like???
It honestly seems like the script writers were beyond inundated with the fast and furious lore and ended up confusing themselves in the process of adding all these fight scenes, explosions, and beyond corny line recalling.
This movie was bad, even with specifically adjusted expectations, on a technical film execution level.
and like, paul walker's character, brian, and his kid i guess!!!, live in some kind of limbo in this universe! they have yet to still address paul's death, have yet to remind the audience that he BEEN had a child with mia.... like... the score playing that old ass charlie puth song is not enough of an acknowledgement smh!
also, ik that everyone loves jason momoa's character in this film, and i did too, but like why do these movies (as in the genre and not just this franchise specifically) try to make the bad guy as gender nonconforming as possible. like part of dante's "unhingedness" is characterized through him having and painting nails, having accesories for his fashion, having bows and buns in his hair like... he still would have been unhinged without all that. The genre could benefit from actually making the good guys be subversive in this manner... but alas.
all that being said, this movie is good for:
- being used as background noise as you go about your day
- analyzing how wild it is with your loved ones
- watching when you're bored and don't want to dedicate more than 5% of your mental energy
- watching michelle rodriguez fight scenes
- enjoying jason momoa's "here we go!" line delivery
A welcome return to the exaggerated action swagger post-Fast V, Fast X: Part One delivers a thrilling over-the-top action flick.
The film shares a similar issue with Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1: it attempts thoroughly to set the stage for the grand finale in Part 2, connecting everything to past films and reuniting the entire cast, even if only briefly. This effort to showcase familial bonds between characters sometimes leads to overdrawn comedy and drama sequences. Several sequences, like the Roman vs Tej fistfight or Letty vs. Cipher brawl, feel like padding to extend the 2.5-hour runtime. And there are character deaths... but as the credits rolled I've accepted that it might not really mean anything. As that one obtuse now-Disney-franchise told us, "No one's ever really gone" in Fast.
Despite this, Fast X manages to maintain a relatively well-paced tone. The film is cognizant that dialogue is never its strong suit and it avoids getting bogged down in overtly serious drama with weak lines, as seen in F9. It also steers clear of relying heavily on exposition to create tension and drama, a trap Dead Reckoning Part 1 fell into. The film effectively brings back the best formula from previous Fast movies, featuring thrilling speed car sequences and gadgety/car gimmicks, while discarding elements that didn't quite work. Jason Momoa's portrayal of Dante is a refreshing departure from the usual tough guy typecast, and the tie-ins to previous Fast films work better here than in Dead Reckoning Part 1,
Although the all-star cast doesn't allow every character to shine (this is, after all, Dom's film), Fast X remains an enjoyable ride from start to finish. Looking forward to the Part 2.
This is one of the stupidest movies I have ever seen and nothing does it justice. The best thing in this movie is probably the stuntmen and women who had to work for this dumb movie. Respect to them. Other than that, acting, characters, effects, plot and even goddamn editing are at the lowest level possible. Why is Dom's kid black, he made him with a white blonde and he s white. Genetics? Why make John Cena travel with the son the entire movie to a hideout where they are safe for 5 minutes before they have to run from there? How could John Cena carry an entire planor with a hand and fuel it with 3 small vodkas? Why didn't Dom just direct the bomb ball in the river with the car instead of JUMPING OFF THE BRIDGE INTO A CRANE THAT TURNED 180 DEGREES AND HIT IT LIKE THAT? Why can Dom lift a car with one hand while he holds a gun that he can pick up after lifting it with 2 hands. Why would the son suddenly have the idea to repair the car cannons while going 70mph. How can he jump from a moving rotating car to another moving rotating car? Why is Jason Statham fighting Han? Why is Letty fighting Cypher? Who cares about Aimes betraying Dom, he was against him anyway from the start of the movie until the third act. How did the gang travel from Rome to London crossing the entirety of Europe in a container? Why did Pete Davidson check the gang for being wanted? So many stupid things... I bet John Cena will come back too somehow. No depth, no stakes, no risks, they even said in the movie that the team defies physics. Self awareness doesn't make it ok. It just makes you dumb for acknowledging it and not doing anything about it. It's just laughable, it's like a 5 year old thought about all this while playing. Not even fun-bad. I don't see what is to like about this.
"That's the problem with having a big family. You can't save them all."
What will be remembered by the time Fast X is far away in our rear view mirror? Not another revived character, not the ending with the explosions, not the mid-credit scene with a certain family member, not the horrible soundtrack, maybe the Rome scene, no, what everyone will remember is the amazing villain in Dante played by Jason Momoa. He's is at the top of his over-the-top game here. The way he dresses, his little dance moves, his nicely painted fingernails and the way he has his hair at times. He is menacing and having so much fun. He kills people, tapes their faces in some kind of smile and paints their fingernails. Epic stuff. I love me these kind of villains and it was exactly what this franchise needed.
The Fast franchise knows exactly what it is and I don't care about any plotholes I just want fun and I didn't really look forward to X and I am looking forward to the next entry! May 2025 is still far away but with the return of Dwayne Johnson, Jason Momoa still kicking ass and much bigger action scenes I presume, it almost can't do wrong already.
When F9 was about to come out, i watched the whole saga again in a week. This time i had my memory a bit more "fresh", so i only watch Fast Five (my second favourite) and F9 (just to know where we let everything). And i'm all in with the nonsense that the saga has become. It isn't going to be a Scorcese or a Nolan movie, we know. But i honestly think this is one of the worst, if not THE worst. I was actually very pumped for it, i was even going to watch it on the cinema; and I'm glad i didn't. The whole movie feels weak and just like pieces of different movies patch together. I think is going to be more "enjoyable" once all parts are out (2? 3?, Vin doesn't want to let go), but as a standalone movie, even in comparisson with the crazy shit we have seen for the past 6 movies, felt loose and even at some points, not entertaining (which i wouldn't have though possible on a F&F movie). Maybe they reached the highest bar available when they launched a car to space in F9. Maybe the only way to top that is to do the meme crossover with Jurassic Park's universe or a time travel car; i don't know. But his one felt even more forgettable than the last 3 movies combined.
The only great thing in this, was Momoa's villain. It certainly is a fresh breeze in the face after a couple dissapointing bad guys in the last ones. He alone, i think, upped the total score about two points; so a 6 out of 10 for me.
P.S: Nobody stays dead in this movies? Gisele again, really?. Also, The Rock coming back because all his latest projects have been flopping hard, is kinda funny. Not complaining tho, but still funny. I wonder if Vin is going to give us what we really want, and "bring" Brian back somehow (i hope technology make it possible). Ohh, and btw, if "The Family" keeps expanding, the last movie is going to be an Avengers Assemble situation
Like when grandpa gets a beer in him and starts repeating the same stories about the old days and the family and he exaggerates everything he did and then falls asleep in the middle.
Fast Ex is two decent set pieces that weren't very original and the same tired speeches and the same parade of cameos.
Jason Momoa is the notable exception. His flamboyant villain was as breath of fresh air in a film that's gasping for novelty. At the beginning of the flick I found his charisma a little grating, but by the end of the film he had me calling him Jason Mommy.
The thing that pissed me off most, though, was how NO ONE ever dies in this franchise. As a result, the stakes in Fast and Furious are very low: if every character is immortal then who cares if any of them gets hurt?
The thing that will piss off even the fans is how this ends on a cliff hanger, making this movie nothing more than a 2 ½-hour prelude for the next installment.
(For those of you who want to get all the references, you may want to re/watch from Fast 5 onward, including Hobbs and Shaw.)
Another F&F movie that’s stupidly entertaining if you can meet it on its wavelength. You don’t need to turn your brain off, but you absolutely need to be able to embrace the madness with this franchise. These are science fiction/anime, they have been for a while now and that tone is once again clearly communicated by the filmmakers. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some small changes compared to previous installments, however. They toned down some of the dramatic undertones and over the top antics from the last ones, which I think was drastically needed. Momoa is a blast to watch, his mannerisms do feel inspired by Ledger’s Joker. In fact, I liked most of the new additions, even someone like Brie Larson is a lot more fun here than anything else I’ve seen her in. However, it’s having a hard time balancing all of its characters and storylines (did we need this convoluted mini sidequest/Infinity War-esque structure?). Sometimes you really feel that any breathing room has been taken out of the edit to make it as tight as possible. It’s not incomprehensible, but I really hope they make something more focussed for the next part. It’s F&F, this should thrive on simplicity. Everything else is the same old recipe. It’s a string of set pieces (loved the bit in Rome) and other entertaining scenes filled with bad acting, boring trap rap, great sound design, soap opera dialogue, lots of production value, fun comedy, plot twists to roll your eyes at and a whole lot of Vin Diesel mumbling about family inbetween. The weaknesses are all very obvious, but it makes up for a lot of them by being shamelessly entertaining.
5/10
This was, of course, a totally ludicrous movie devoid of any pretense of realism or intelligence when it comes to basic science and physics from the script writers. It was however, also a quite fun movie.
It is also a movie free from the usual Hollywood far left woke preaching which is, of course, a big plus.
It is a shame that there is always a bunch of trolls around giving movies like this single star reviews. I mean, come on, what the fuck did you expect? It is a movie exactly in the same style as the last movies in the franchise.
Vin Diesel is Vin Diesel which is a good thing. It is loaded with fun, totally unrealistic but fun, action. I really could have been without Roman’s and Tej’s shenanigans but for the rest I liked the characters and it was nice to see Statham in the movie.
What really made the movie though was to finally see a real, rotten to the core, megalomaniac and charismatic bad guy. Jason Momoa is doing a great job of Dante and I suspect he had quite a bit of fun when doing the role.
Of course there are a few things that drags down the movie.
Things like a 20 kiloton nuclear bomb going of a few hundred meters from the Vatican with “almost” no casualties. That is a new low on unrealism even for the Hollywood hacks.
And what bloody passenger airliner has bomb drop style cargo doors under it?
Even if they did not care about sanity or realism when making the movie there are limits. That drags down the rating as far as I am concerned.
Also, they decided to make this final (?) instalment a two part movie with a huge cliffhanger at the end of this one. I just hate cliffhangers and it makes me automatically reduce the rating.
There was absolutely know need for it. They could just have Dom & Co walk into the sunset plotting their revenge or something instead of this dumbass ending.
At least the good thing is that, unless the Hollywood hacks turns out to be even more stupid than they usually are (which would be quite a feat), part two of this movie will be all about kicking Dante’s arse.
This was AWFUL!! Way overly predictable. Totally unbelievable car chase maneuvers like the drop out of the plane, driving down the dam, etc. The movie got dumber and dumber as it went. At least in the past they were semi-believable. This gets into the comic book level cgi not even physically possible.
The script sucks too. The frozen tundra escape "we've got 4 minutes before they realize we're free".... yeah let's spend that fighting, then supposedly climbing to escape only to discover nope, then come back down and no one ever chasing them eye roll. The script couldn't even remain consistent to what they were showing, saying or doing.
Someone complained about Momoa. Honestly his character's twisted smart of humor is the only thing that saved this from being total garbage. The cameos from Rita Moreno, Jason Statham, were too short and useless, just making it needlessly longer than it needed to be. Cena (Jacob) was okay. More believable than most of it, but not really.
The pre-quel at the end might be bait enough for the next one, but I won't buy it next time. Really glad I didn't spend the money to see it in the theater. Next one I'll wait until it's "free" on Max or something. Wasn't worth the $20 on Amazon.
I can always rely on this franchise to give me what I desire from it.
'Fast X' is a great time. I adore the whole series and have done so since watching the opening entry of it as a teen, sure it has changed tremendously since those halcyonic days of 2001 (OK, I was like 5 then...) but my fondness and enjoyment of these films remains unchanged - quality entertainment!
I love the main cast, particularly those we've had since the beginning or thereabouts - from Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez to Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris (I'm gonna need a spin-off with those two if you're reading, Universal!) to Sung Kang and Jordana Brewster (want more of the latter, but I get it's tricky with the absence of Paul Walker; who is still missed). I'll never tire (tyre?) of watching them together.
Away from those guys, the recurrence of the likes of Charlize Theron, John Cena and Nathalie Emmanuel is pleasant and the additions of Brie Larson and Jason Momoa are highly welcomed. I wasn't sure if Momoa was a bit too over the top in parts, but all in all he makes for a memorable antagonist - he certainly commits to the role!
The action continues to be absolutely bonkers and I continue to be absolutely onboard with everything and anything that is portrayed onscreen. The look of the film, the sound of the film... I dig it all to be honest. It's loud as heck, but that's exactly what I'd want from a 'Fast & Furious' flick. A film worth the admission fee, as usual.
Bring on 'Fast XI' or whatever they decide to call it. Apparently we're still getting another one after that, which I personally hope has its own sequel, which in turn has its sequel, followed by another seque... you get my point. I wanna be 105 and sat in the cinema watching another one of these.:joy:
This is the one where all the saga's protagonists band together against the Joker. There's a breathtaking scene with an exploding dam, and, most notably, Vin Diesel playing Rocket League with a massive bomb rolling through the streets of Rome, Indiana Jones-style.
I'm astounded reading reviews from those who suddenly realized they've been eating crap for ten films. While I share the weariness of reaching the eleventh chapter, "Fast X" is hands down the best of the bunch, thanks in part to Justin Lin's departure with a decent shooter. The result is as Trashy and absurd as the last four or five films, but at least it's shot and staged with a relative finesse and an underlying self-awareness. The tone and production value are more in line with modern blockbusters, and although it feels like it’s progressively becoming a generic superhero flick with cars, the mind-blowing sensory impact of the action sequences is undeniable.
The writing remains a tragedy, further exacerbating both the soap opera elements and the Dragon Ball-esque components. Fortunately, the editor comes to our aid, cutting out almost all the plot moments in favor of never-ending car chases, explosions and random brawls (I swear, every character gets at least one punch-up with no particular reason). But I think it’s worth mentioning that the queue at the bathroom was epic during Vin Diesel and Melchior’s intense dialogue.
Actual score: 4.5
Guilty pleasure score: 7.5
Overall: 6
While watching the "Fast & Furious" movies, I sometimes wish that I had paid less attention in physics class at school. That was already the case in the earlier parts of the series, but it's even more pronounced in "Fast X". To have fun, you must completely turn off your brain. Unfortunately, I didn't always succeed in doing so.
I would say that "Fast X" is a small improvement compared to "F9". The staging is clearly better - you can follow the action well, and the fight sequences are also more impactful. Also, a big plus is Jason Momoa, whose villain Dante steals every scene he appears in. Unlike previous antagonists, Momoa turns up the camp factor to 1000, clearly having fun with the role. Nevertheless, the series has already passed its prime for several installments.
The story is really just stupid. One retcon follows the next. New characters are constantly introduced, most of them related to already-existing ones. Sides are switched for no apparent reason. And in the end, the film simply suffers from having a way too large cast. Almost no one gets more than one or two scenes in which they are the focus. Furthermore, characters vanish from the film without being seen again. And the transitions between the individual plot elements are really sloppy. But the worst part is when Vin Diesel has to act. He obviously just can't do that anymore.
Ultimately, I could have imagined giving "Fast X" a slightly higher rating. For that, however, the film would have needed a better ending or some forme of a conclusion at all. A cliffhanger is okay if it follows the finale of a movie. But the tenth "Fast & Furious" movie just ends before reaching the finish line of at least one story. That's just unsatisfying and lazy. I'm not optimistic about the next part(s).
A vacous and imbecile action potboiler which does what it's meant to do, "Entertain".
Fast X is a noisy actioner which pushes the limits of inventive action set pieces but this time stays grounded compared to the space shit they tried last time. As a franchise, fast and furious has always been extremely self aware of what it intends to present , over the top, adrenaline pumping , never seen before action and Fast X delivers in that front yet again. The sheer amount of scale and production value gone into this makes this an insane film. While it entertains us throughout because of its action, having an engaging and appealing premise has always been the weakest aspect of this franchise. The story is yet again dumb and feels like an Indian tv soap where no one dies and pops up again and again.
The cast rather than balancing the count keeps getting bigger with each iteration. The best thing the makers have done this time is to integrate Jason Mamoa as Dante and he is maniacal and psychotic. Probably the best villain in the franchise until now. He brings in the much needed wackyness to the film. Alan Ritchson joins the cast and he is brilliant. While rest of the cast remains same and their chemistry adds the elements of humour , Brie Larson's entry doesn't make any sense. Let's hope she springs in a surprise in the next 2 films. The film finishes on a cliffhanger and promises more madness in the next. However dumb it may be, the franchise will be remembered as the one which defies physics in the most realistic way possible.
Overall, if you are a fast and furious fan there's no one stopping you, but if you are not then you are missing the out on the most badass franchise coming to a close. I recommend keep your brains at home and go have a blast.

I’ve never had to write a review that I felt I had to put in context, first, but here it goes. My relationship with the F&F franchise has been up and down. These have been my ratings for the first 9 shows, in order: 8, x, 8, x, 8, 8, 8, 7, 4 (x are ones I didn’t see). The reason for any of the 8s was because of the character interaction and the heart of the peice. I know that is not what sells the franchise. What sells is fast cars, tight bodies and blowing things up, none of which are why I watch movies. I mourn the loss of heart and people stories and am bored of nonsensical action and CGI stunts. FAST X is full of the stuff that does not hold my attention. It was also filled with cameos of A-list actors, which I found somewhat interesting if puzzling (they must have been paid a boat load to put their name to the franchise). As far as story went, I was very disappointed with ending that turned out to be a cliffhanger for part 2 (is it really a cliffhanger if you know that all who appear to be dead show up in part 2 miraculously spared?). As usual, I did an exit poll of those leaving the theatre with me. Of the dozen people that I interacted with, the ratings swung from 5 to 9. I’m tiring of the devolution of this series, but I will probably see part 2 just to see what miracles take place. I give this film a 5 (yawn) out of 10. [Action Adventure]

The more ridiculous, the better!
If I had to criticise this on a technical level it would probably be a 5 or a 6 but with the Fast & Furious franchise is all about entertainment/fun, over-the-top absurdity and self-aware cheese—and so, it's an 8. By far the best experience i've had with any film in the franchise, I had so much fun and the 2h22 flew by. It's 2h22 of no script, a whole lot of action and a shit ton of FAMILY. Fast X not only has some of the best car action sequences we've seen in the franchise yet but it also has the most action out of all of them, it's non-stop!
Everything in Rome with the ball was one of, if not my favorite sequence in the franchise. The hand-to-hand fights were epic. I didn't like John Cena in F9 but in this one he was one of my favorites (even though he's playing a completely different character) and his sidequest with the kid was heartwarming and some of my favorite scenes. Jason Momoa is the star! He looks like he's having the time of his life playing this insanely over-the-top villain. Best villain in the franchise yet. Charlize Theon really shines in this one, Brie Larson was a good addition and I want more Statham.
Too many subplots happening at once (even though it kinda fits with the theme of going over-the-top in every aspect), the transition between scenes is so sudden/hyperactive, the acting is iffy, the dialogue is ridiculous and some character arcs feel barely touched upon. The tone feels like a kids cartoon and that's a quality. I had a blast, can't wait for the next two parts. Highly recommend watching it in IMAX.
