A largely predictable British comedy film that manages to rise above the sum of its parts, thanks to some great performances and a focus on the sisterly relationship between two people that are suddenly thrown together again. The focus is largely on the two sisters and both Imelda Staunton and Celia Imrie play off each other really well, but even the romantic subplot is sensitively handled as two people struggle to come to terms with their own personal losses and reconnect. If the final act is a little melodramatic, it manages to win you over on the strength of the relationships that have been developed during the film.
