Certainly not his best movie but one thing Takashi Miike never is is boring!
Entertaining romp. Prolly not Miike's best, but anyway, well worth a watch. Becky kinda stole the show, not gonna lie. :D
FInally! A return to Miike's old school early 2000s Yakuza action! It's not the best, but it's entertaining.
Prostitute, prostitute pimps, Chinese mafia, Japanese mafia, a policeman, they fight hard to be the most inept. I liked it and entertained me, don't skimp on violence
I don't know how any person in the real life gives this thing more than 1 star .

A pretty classic yakuza movie: a guy has a plan to rip off his boss, it goes wrong.
The very beginning fails because of the random involvment of the main character, but anyway, everybody involved is so grossly incompetent that every single step after also goes wrong, including the cover-up attempt. At this point it may have been better to give a more comic tone to the movie, but nope it stays mostly serious.
Technically there's really nothing to complain about. It's clearly perfectly mastered from beginning to end. It looks great, actors are good. All the characters are marginally interesting, no lazy writing, nothing out of the ordinary either. Same can be said for the scenario, nothing is bad, nothing is specially good either, and some parts feel really forced.
The final stand off scene where everybody involved is killing each other in a supermarket alleys is the only thing worth remembering in the movie, and even that feels a little too long.
In the end it results in a perfectly executed movie, the technical quality is top notch, but it may feels too clinical maybe and it's too long, this leaves a little boring aftertaste. Still well worth a first watch.

Miike's universe is made up of explosive characters, cold urban settings, extreme violence... This is pure Miike's universe. A chance encounter turns into a fast-paced mix of genres with mafias, yakuzas and corrupt police. The gorgeous cinematography shows a transparent night city that. Dark humor is unbeatable. It's the most balanced Takashi Miike, who cleverly manages all the elements of his particular universe.
