The movie cleverly plays with typical Irish cliches, and has beautifully scripted characters that are perfectly depicted by both, the main cast as well as the supporting cast. And while it has it's surprisingly gruesome scenes and shockers, it is mainly a comedy, and one that is typically British and reminds you of movies such as the one by Edgar Wright, especially Hot Fuzz. It is full of little absurd situations and dialogues, which will make you laugh, if you like this kind of humor. The story is interesting and captivating, and refreshingly witty. However, the last third of the movie gets a bit predictable and a bit tedious. Acting is great, and especially the chemistry between the characters works out really good. And for a low budget production, this movie uses some of the greatest CGI scenes I've seen. The alien is not only perfectly designed, it looks great, and given that the movie relies heavily on CGI the interaction between actors and CGI is seamless. Responsible for the effects was Shoume Harrison who is known for his works on movies such as "Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows" or "Captain America: The First Avenger".
All in all this movie is greatly entertaining, and refreshingly original.
Solid monster horror with a couple nods to classic horror. Well done drunk shitshow, reminds me of an Irish Attack The Block. Could use a bit more on the comedy aspect, but be sure and watch this with a couple drinks in ya. Drinking game for this has to be a rough one
Total blast of a creature feature. It's got a good balance of monsters and humor. Doesn't do anything new really, but it's a good time.
I watched this movie not in English, because I was afraid that I won't understand the Irish accent. I think that was a great decision.
Well - the plot is simple: horrific aliens want to settle down on a small island, and they need blood and water to survice - but they are allergic to alcohol. What a fortune for the irish people - all they have to do is to get drunk to beat the aliens. Whohooo!
And there is also a new girl in "town"; a police officer who is usually not into drinking. But u bet: she got really drunk in this movie, and about after half of the movie she likes her colleague as well.
Nice movie though; nothing really new. But at an evening if you got nothing else to do - give it a try; especially if you like Shaun of the Dead (which is much better ofc).
Mas entretenida que muchas de monstruos
Didn't like it, i didn't found it funny or scary. Typical boring b-movie, it took ages for something to happen
These Irish and the curious way to defend against monster in this sympathetic movie
Very silly (in a good way), charming, and - well: it has Richard Coyle (who was my main reason for seing this) AND Russell Tovey - that's just icing on the cake! :D
Just about as much fun as you can have Drunk....Only the Irish
a nice movie that doens´t let his predecessors down in this unique genre

Irish mash up of Jaws and Tremors with some nods to Predator and, idk, Gremlins maybe? Surprisingly good effects with some character to the lovecraftian-ish tentacle monster. Quite fun and entertaining but simplistic and formulaic both as monster flick and comedy. Probably works best in a monster b-movie night with plenty of Irish whisky to match the theme.
