Watched again after a few years. Just upgraded his grade from 9 to 10!

Such a classic. The most 90s movie I can think of, in the best way possible. I was grinning the whole time watching it again. Cereal is the best.
Gloriously, deliciously bad in so many wonderful ways, it's hilarious in hindsight but also fitting for today, 2021. It's got a catchy 90s themetrack, pumping with the Prodigy and Orbital for example, plus icing on the cake is an unbelievably hot Angelina Jolie. Sometimes the phreaking was nearly accurate, setup definitely wasn't but it's a ride.
The film was largely written in response to Ronald Reagan's CFAA, "Computer Fraud Abuse Act", it being inspired when Reagan watched another film, "WarGames", which you'll need to see also.

The 80s had War Games and it’s child like games. The 90s with Hackers where the cool kids get to show off that they are smarter than most of the so-called smart people. To the 2010s where the cool kids grow up into the Edward Snowden’s of the world and we realize the]at tech isn’t just a game anymore.
The movie is the. Empire Records of the tech world. A fun movie to watch with cool kids to watch.

One of the greatest movies of all time. Clearly, there is no bias or nostalgia associated with this objective evaluation. Incredible soundtrack, style, imagination, and a timeless relic of an unforgettable era of culture and technology. When the internet was cool.
I just love the 90's! Do yourself a favor and watch this film.
So stupid and BS fake. About as lame as it gets for a "hacker" movie.
This condenses every popular cliche about hacking into a neat package, most of which are somehow still used to this day (even despite Mr Robot’s best attempts to show us that hacking doesn’t equal typing fast on a keyboard). It’s very dumb and schlocky, and while it’s aware of that, it’s too afraid to push to a point where it becomes campy fun. Despite being even more dated, WarGames is a much better film than this. The problem is that it’s a schlocky 90s movie aimed at children, so it tries to aim for a tone that's mostly cool, edgy and a little angsty. This does the acting, dialogue, story and MTV editing style no favours, because that’s all way too lame and cheesy to take seriously. The only thing that’s genuinely well done about this movie is the music selection (the song for the credits excluded), it’s filled with 90s techno and breakbeat tracks that have all become classic songs, and they fit perfectly here. You might get some added pleasure out of the fact that aesthetically this is one of the most 90s movies in existence, but for every bit of outdated 90s technology that’s cute to look back on now, there are about 5 cringy fashion choices.

It tried really hard. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.
Years before Mr. Robot, Hackers was the world's first real look into the world of computer security, hi-tech espionage, and the quirky (and very real) New York underground of teenage cyberpunks. Even today, 50 years later, my professor of 3d composited command line interfaces still shows this movie because it condenses the entire course into a completely watchable, 107 minute lecture. Everything makes perfect sense and there are no plot holes whatsoever. Sucks that Phreak completely disappears, though. RIP dude.
Overloaded with 90s Nostalgia. Worth a watch for that reason; Story leaves a lot to be desired
