3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Halloween Kills’:
If I had to hear “evil dies tonight” or one of the many other melodramatic one-liners again, I was going to scream. This film tried wayyy too hard — and it failed, miserably. Awful writing. I believe this is the worst contribution to the franchise and, considering a few of them, that’s saying a lot.
Intro and score aside, this didn’t feel like a Halloween film by any means. The theater was constantly laughing — and not in a good way. Michael Myers took on characteristics and acted in ways that were very unlike him. For example, our classic Michael was always super stealth. Barely ever seen. That was what was creepy about him. Frankly, we saw way too much of him here.
I hated how “deep” they tried to take this incredibly-jumbled plot. Insinuating that Michael was ultimately out to turn the town against each other, bringing out their evil. No. That’s not Michael. It’s quite a stretch. And the side plot of the escaped patient was random and ridiculous.
Bonus Thought: I’m honestly not at all a fan of this timeline. I think their biggest mistake was taking the connection away that Michael and Laurie were siblings. It provided motive and stakes and the family element that was always a part of the mythology.
Are any of the people (not named Michael) in this film NOT idiots? Is anyone who ran up against him NOT incredibly stupid in terms of the decisions made both before AND after running up against him? Because in the movie that I watched, there was a Darwin Award finalist every five minutes or so. And you know how sometimes good acting can save a bad script or vice-versa? Yeah, neither of those things happens here. Not even remotely. Finally, let's not forget that ALL of this is the result of Laurie -- for no reason whatsoever -- abandoning her Big Plan the moment she crossed paths with Michael at the end of the last film. And it's as if everyone in this one saw how stupid THAT was and said, "Hold my beer."
As good as the gore was... the script was just horrid. Everyone kept reciting the same lines, the characters were one-note and everything about the townspeople was just absurd. Why is everyone up in arms about something that doesn't really concern them from 40 years ago? How they dealt with Michael was also dumb... it's like Judy Geer's character wasn't listening to her mom at all. The 2018 effort was OKish as it dealt with Laurie's trauma but this really had nothing to show for it.
Most fun I had with a Halloween Movie since the Original and Halloween III. I don't get the critics and ratings, I liked it even more than the previous movie. David Gordon Green just knows what Halloween and MM is all about. Great job.
We can send this single creature to frontline, and win any war, even nuclear war maybe lol
An insane and non-stop violent ride. That may or may not leave you wanting more. It depends on how many more people you want to see brutally killed in the next one, Halloween Ends.
This one I think even manages to out do Rob Zombie with the kill count. I was frustrated by the very end that someone would be dumb enough to go back in his house.
Still, this was one the best of the Halloween movies despite a somewhat weak ending. That makes it look like Laurie didn’t teach Karen better than that.
It was also disappointing how stupid Tommy Doyle was. He acts like a Michael Myers expert. Yet, he plans on taking him out with a baseball bat.
The people are so stupid in this film it's amazing, 10/10 for realism
Ok we get it, evil dies tonight. I had so much fun watching this. Fast paced with edge of the seat suspense, killer soundtrack, absolutely brutal and creative kills, this film knows exactly what it is. Michael Myers is back even more monstrous with his burnt mask and it feels like he's actually the star in this one, which I really love. This film picks up from H18 and also expands the story of the original in very interesting way with some cool callbacks to characters from both the original and H18. If you’re not a fan of slashers, you probably won’t like this. For me it's very entertaining and overall a great slasher film that delivers exactly what the title says.
Nice visual effects and killings, but that's it. We've seen this over and over again, but now it has some actors from the classic movies. It brings nothing new to the story. I personally hated the ending and the characters choices are out of this reality.
Quoting the movie I Know What You Did Last Summer: "When you leave a man for dead, make sure that he's REALLY dead!". Obviously these characters have never seen it.
At this point, they are better creating some spin off of this franchise rather than dragging this dead body for 5 more sequels.
Why don't they just DISMEMBER THIS BLOODY GUY!
The only horror in this movie was that some of the towns people lived. Michael Myers is like 6' 4" yet they acted like he was the short mental patient in the hospital. The one guy had to open the car door to make sure he wasn't hiding where? The floor board? The young girl and guy at the end go into the house and after shooting a pumpkin in the hallway closet clearing like 2% of the house stop to talk. Everyone constantly yells out their positions when searching the house and stops to play with dead bodies. This whole movie was a flaming piece of garbage.
I felt like I were watching the "Scary Movie" series, where stupid behavior of the characters in horror movies is stigmatized, except that this time it's not even funny but pathetic...
It looked like most of the characters in this movie were actually trying to be killed.
If Evil dies tonight then RIP to whoever thought this movie was a good idea.
Like a textbook made up of only footnotes.
This film is simply a series of explanations, boring kills and sad one-liners, which is too bad, really, because the idea of the town chasing him could've been cool if they'd done it á la Richard Ramirez.
“Evil dies tonight!”
More like everyone dies tonight.
‘Halloween Kills’ - the body count has been heighten in brutal fashion. From start till finish it’s a bloody carnage, and if you want to watch a movie that’s all about the kills, then this is for you, but don't go into this expecting anything else, because even though I liked the 2018 version, this unfortunately felt like a step down in quality.
Firstly, the writing in this movie is terrible and the people of Haddonfield have got more brain cells than oranges have pips! The number of times a character will remind you how evil Michael Myers is, as if showing him brutally killing people at random wasn’t enough. Even when this mob finally catches up to Myers, they only beat him up a little bit and then let him have a breather. There should be a drinking game of the amount of times "evil dies tonight" is said, but I fear that might cause the statistics for alcohol poisoning to go up.
I was honestly rooting for Michael Myers the whole time. There were only two death scenes where I felt sorry for the characters, but the rest kind of deserved it for being so stupid. One of the funniest death scenes is when a woman starts opening fire on Myers while he’s in the vehicle, somehow missing every shot despite her bragging earlier about firing one before, Myers kicks the car door open causing the door to strike the gun she’s aiming at, discharging it, and accidentally shooting herself in the head. Or how about the amount of times characters are in perilous situations from which they could easily run away, but never do. It’s bizarre choices like this that makes me wonder what the filmmakers were thinking. Hammy dialogue and a disjointed narrative structure.
I can easily see people getting bored watching this movie because there’s nothing there on the surface besides the kills. I mean, say what you want about the 2018 version, but what surprised me is how the movie showed the aftermath of most of the kills instead of the kill itself. While in this movie, despite being a gory guilty pleasure, it felt like mindless gore.
Although I appreciate that the movie is trying to go for a social message about mob mentality, jumping to conclusions, and how far it can escalate. I mean if you’ve been on Twitter for six years, you will get the gist. The idea of fear and rage and rumor spreading through a mob which sets out to hunt Michael is very interesting, but it was executed so poorly. It’s also about finding the right balance of social message and a dumb slasher movie, and unfortunately, I got dumber slasher movie with extra dumb.
Other than that, some familiar faces (or character names) make a return, for better or worse. Although it made me question, 40 years after a traumatic event why would you stay in one place. The worst example of this has to be an older Tommy Doyle played by Anthony Michael Hall, who delivers an embarrassing performance. I thought he was incredibly one-note and after a while he got on my nerves. They should’ve brought back Paul Rudd as Tommy Doyle, just saying. Other returned characters are there for call back references without the respect they deserve.
On the other hand, it’s not to say the movie doesn’t have its merits.
I like the fact that Michael “Groovy Baby!” Myers has gone back to being not motivated for his actions and is just the embodiment of evil, who may or may not be supernatural. He's brutal and intimidating in this movie that every time he’s on screen there’s a deep feeling of dread. He is an immortal killing machine.
The score was great, of course with it being from John Carpenter himself, but also his collaborators Cody Carpenter (his son) and Daniel A. Davies. There were a couple of moments where the score became the icing on the cake.
The 1978 flashback scene was so well done that I’m curious to know how they did it, in terms of recapturing the bluish look, the cameras they used, and how they manage to perfectly re-make the original mask that Michael Myers wore in 78, where the other sequels failed to replicate.
Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode is still great as always, but this time takes a backseat and misses most of the action, but for good reasons, as in the last movie she received serious injuries when confronting Myers and I thought based on the marketing of the movie that she will get out of the hospital bed and face off against Myers for a second round, which I’m glad they didn’t do and they are self-aware enough to know that would be too ridiculous.
Judy Greer was also great as Karen, the warmest and caring character in the whole movie.
The biggest praise I have for this movie is how they manage to find someone who had the same appearance and voice of Donald Pleasence, as Dr Loomis returns briefly in the 78' flashback scene, played by Tom Jones Jr., and dubbed over by Colin Mahan. People thought it was CGI or deep fake, which couldn’t be further than the truth. This movie and ‘Doctor Sleep’ stepped away from that technical side and instead used an actor. I wish more movies would do that.
Overall rating: My biggest issue with this movie and its sequels and tired reboots, is that the original Halloween was more about the mundane and subtlety. The studios need to remember that.
Was excited to see it but then when I finally did the movie sooo bad - :woman_facepalming_tone3:
A wonderful summary of all the reasons why I despise the vast majority of all horror movies. The only scary parts were the dialogues and what the writers had planned next.
can anyone tell me what Michael's entire motivation to kill is? not just in this movie, but overall.
Horrible horrible horrible horrible horrible
This features 'typical' American small town thinking through out and some really cheesy lines. The ending was a lead up to another film, the whole thing felt like filler for a story that already had an end. This is not rewatchable.
Never mentioned anything about Laurie’s son from h20 .
Just meh . Why bother bringing bother people that were killed off . Just to bring them back again . They aren’t trying anymore with this franchise
Premise - 15/20 - Michael survived? I can't believe it. But hey, I'm in for the next one.
Cast/characters - 12/20 - The returning characters were good, but Anthony Michael Hall wasn't great as Tommy.
Story - 12/20 - Oh, the stupidity. Half of these deaths were plain old helpless people. If you're going to go down, go down swinging. Wow.
Dialogue - 10/20 - Nothing to see here, but nothing too bad. The "evil dies tonight" was a little overdone.
World-building - 15/20 - Haddonfield went from unified to mob mentality to helpless dipsticks in a big rollercoaster ride.
Well, this rebooted franchise took a turn for the worse. All the good points from Halloween (2018) are missing: good acting, high tension, interesting characters...
While Halloween (2018) was a worthy sequel to the very first movie of the series, this one is pretty disappointing.
The scenes set in 1978 were directed in a way to remind you of the original movie, but it didn't really fit in with the vibe of the film (and honestly who the fuck cares about mister policeman regrets that were made up on the spot for this movie).
I'm totally okay with deleting all the past movie timeline, I never liked that shit they did with the curse of the Thorn and Laurie being his little sister. I'm glad that story was erased, Michael doesn't need a reason for killing and doesn't need to be a supernatural monster, that's what makes him scary.
That being said, in this sequel was badly written and unnecessary Michael is again, unfortunately, an undying unstoppable monster somehow, and for me it takes too much suspension of disbelief. I mean, they try to "explain" it with Laurie saying "The more he kills, the more he trascends and becomes fear". Yeah, whatever, that doesn't work with what you presented in the first film, or in the original one.
I mean, Michael was shot 5 or 6 times at the end of Halloween (1978) and survived because - as they show in this movie through a flashback - he was caught that same night, and they must have helped him with his injuries.
But then in this same movie Michael:
1) kills all the trained and armed firemen that save him from the fire at Laurie's house (after suffering some fire injuries on his face and hands AND being shot and stabbed by the Strodes);
2) continue his killing spree, murdering random people while going back to his house;
3) survives a lady that literally punches his face with a bag full of bricks;
4) survives a lynching by some townsfolks that shoot him, beat him up and even stab him (at this point I was honestly asking myself if Michael would have survived a beheading, but unfortunately they never tried). And of course kills everyone with just his mangled hands and his trusted kitchen knife. And they were like 10 people.
5) manages to somehow go undetected in his house after the failed lynching and -boop- suddenly appears in his old sister's room and murders Laurie's daughter. Like, how the hell did he do that with all the people gathered outside and inside the house, and leaving no freaking footprint despite losing blood constantly from all those injuries??
ALL OF THIS ON THE SAME NIGHT. Come on, there is literally no time for him to recover, it's too much.
They also tried to do a Stephen King's "all town is involved with this shit" kind of thing, but honestly it was really boring and there were no premises in the 2018 movie for this kind of plot. I had to listen to everyone's rambling and remembering their past halloweens in Michael's fear, like I had to pretend I cared about a bunch of townsfolk connected with Michael's victims, that were never mentioned or introduced in the previous movie...
It felt like too much, and what's worse is that in the end it was useless. I spent almost two hours for nothing because literally anyone introduced in this movie dies!
I mean, it's not the worst Halloween movie from the entire franchise, but it's definitely not a good one.
Also "evil dies tonight"... but there's a sequel coming out in 2022. Really a bad choice of words.
A bit of a disappointment after the 2018 reboot but if you're here for the gore and brutality, you will probably find something to like here. If you're looking for originality and a smart script, you may have to look elsewhere, however.
a movie that sits on the opposite end of the slay spectrum
Clearly the entire community is consisted of a bunch of idiots! Like seriously!!! The thriller aspect of the movie was great but honestly, I’m so over this series :joy:, the makers of this film really need to be more realistic and stop portraying people as maniacs. I have to honestly wonder if there is absolutely NO HERO that can save this community from Michael? NONE!? Everyone is just…… stupid???!!!!!! Oh My Gawd!:woman_facepalming_tone3::woman_facepalming_tone3:
Evil didn’t die tonight!
While I am an avid fan of the franchise and thoroughly enjoyed the chaos and thrill that Halloween Kills brings to the screen, I couldn't help but notice that the film primarily revolves around Michael Myers perpetuating his relentless killing spree for 105 minutes. Don't get me wrong, as a serial killer, that's to be expected, and it certainly delivers on the suspense and horror fronts. However, in terms of narrative depth, Halloween Kills doesn't introduce much that feels entirely fresh.
Not the worst entry in the Halloween series, but certainly one of the least scary. A gore fest that invested a bit more in quality acting and cinematography, but the story and scares fall flat. I wouldn't watch again and I'm honestly not sure if I'll watch the sequel 'Halloween Ends'
Is has its moments but again town full of stupid people and bad writing. They could have done way better if they wanted him to survive. This is more a comedy movie. Sad
Honestly ignore all the hate comments lol the movie is amazing it’s like watching the old bad ass Micheal Myers
Loved Michael Myers, Carpenter's Score and the brutal kills. As for the rest of it: Cringe as fuck!
One of the dumbest movies that I saw. I don't know why I should watch how a lot of people dies without a reason and ending?
The thing that bothered me the most is how un-cinematic it looks. It looks like a TV series. The flashbacks did it no favors.
I'm profoundly sad to be writing this but this movie sucks. I love the first Halloween movie and even the 2018 continuation, but this one is so terribly made. 1) The storyline is so confusing, it's not linear and it goes back and forth through scenes that don't connect well 2) the characters usually make very poor choices that were clearly written just to make Michael escape with little to no damage. At least is hella bloody and have some gore. But I expected more coming from the Halloween franchise. Looks like they had to continue the story somehow, but not like they wanted to do it.
This was probably the biggest crap I've seen for quite some time.
Terrible script and story. Not good at all.
Oh my..... this movie had some of the dumbest characters to ever fill a screen at one time.
Whatever it was that made this franchise once special is gone FOREVER.
Also that SCRIPT.....jeez:confounded: CRINGEWORTHY
had a few hiccups here and there but i thoroughly enjoyed it, dont understand the hate
This was...fine? The kills are really good for what it's worth with some very well done gore and brutality. The overarching narrative/metaphor messaging about mob mentality felt like a heavy handed swipe at cancel culture and online hate mobs, not very fitting for the Halloween series in my opinion. Definitely feels like the "middle movie" where nothing decisive can happen, it just has to tread water and look good while building the finale coming in the next movie. Not bad, not terrible, just fine.
wow..people in these movie really don't know how to shoot huh? it's either that and have no ammo. so stupid
Honestly like 99% of the people that got killed were so dumb they almost deserved it for just standing there
A good second part of the new sequel trilogy. The story is very slight and the film doesn't really warrant a 105 minute running time. There's a lot of extraneous people being effing dumb and investigating on their own for no good reason, but the violence and brutality has been stepped up from the 2018 movie and it's a nice set up for a (hopefully non-sucky) final part. Fingers crossed that these guys can stick the landing.
[Sitges FF] It assumes the condition as an intermediate film from the beginning, introducing a return to the origins. But it also tries to broaden the evil by expanding it towards the trauma that turns into mass hysteria. Evil has spread, ("It is turning us into monsters") and is part of the community. The Frankenstein myth arises, which may be debatable, but it is a way of psychologizing the incarnation of evil.
70iq victims galore, solid killings aplenty. Deliver that nostalgic theme song into my veins. Michael Myers is back babay. 6.9
The story and acting was like a cheesy b-movie. Eventhough some of the kills were okay and funny, this is one of the worst films in the Halloween franchise. 5/10
Brutal killings. Lots of action. Definitely the best Halloween yet. Plus it is full of st**id people.
nice carnage, terrible acting, cringe catchphrases. I just came for the killings.
I Can't Wait!!!! The last film was enjoyable the legend of Michael Myers Grows
This portrayal of Michael is incredible. He really feels like this unstoppable force who is so consumed with murder, he can only focus on his current kill before getting bored and hunting the next.
The scene that starts with the drone... the way it ended... that's Michael Myers.
They just destroyed Halloween for good, again.
I was so happy when they decide to do this movies, and that they contiues from the first ones. And everything connects so fine. And trough whole this movie you thinking finally the people understand that its time to get together and kills him. THen it makes you so frustrated that why the hell dont you stick together. And when the final scene playus out you scream YES! But same time thinking this is how the last movie should end. Becuase you know it's gonna be one more. And hten you thinking NOOOO this cant mean any good. ANd suddenly ha stands up and kill everyone. When he should be dead and this time they realy killed him. And when i finally think they made this story right. Ha stands up and kill everyone even if it was right oputside the house but same time outside the hous it weas cops, peramedics everywwere. And i just realised they have destroyed Hallloween again. Im so angry right now. WHen they finally made this right and realistic. So now we all know that Michael Myers is immortal. So why eve do one more movie? Why even fight? He is immortal. I dont see any reason any point for the last movie. And you just derstroyed this again. I love Halloween and finally all made sence and finally think you saved this story. Im sorry this is just another unrealistic bullshit. So the only thing that was good is how brutal Michael is in this. THe kills he does is the best in the frenscasise. But sorry now it its destroyed again. Im so angry right now and what ithe point of the next movie? THis is not what i was lpokking for. When i finally though you made this right this awesome frenchaise. You destroyed it all in the last 5 min of the movie. DAMN YOU! Im so angry that im shaking here right now. For you that likes this movies and just like it for the kills but dont care about this history or if it is realistic. SUre then it is the best brutal murder ever. But for me i wasso happy they finally made the storyu realistic and they just killed it all in the last 5 min of the movie. Michael Myers cant be killed and its better they do a movbie jsut about michael walking around and kill people and have no story to it. That is what they want. And that is nothjing for me., Im so sad right right now. I love halloween and I though Halloween was much more then this. I hope everyone makes them udnerstand that they just destroiyed everyting again. So sad. But as I said the kills anmd brutality of michael is something i always wanted in other movies were accuallly the story is realistc. So now there is no way to save this. DAMN YOU!
Brutal killings. Lots of action. Definitely the best Halloween yet. Plus it is full of st**id people.
What are you gonna do? Another Halloween entry for the fans, I'll still watch them with tempered expectations. Had some interesting kills they didn't completely censor. Otherwise generally forgettable. I actually sympathized with Michael Myers at certain points within this entry.
The brutality! You have to appreciate it, I get that that’s kind of an acquired taste but I’m surprised at the amount of people put off by the gore. This movie opens things up in an interesting way but it does suffer a bit from stretching things out because we know they have at least one more movie to go. That can be forgiven if they stick the landing but I like the choices made here and their extension of Haddonfield even if some of the things teetered a bit over the top. I also think they did a good job of making the victims as likeable as possible in short periods of time.
The ending was the best part. They really thought they did something by jumping him
I love Halloween. The original movie is what got me into horror. And I usually always love a new iteration of Halloween, but this just fell short for me. Really the only thing that it had going for it were some pretty brutal kills.
I'm not sure why this one didn't get as much love as some of the other Halloween films. It wasn't a "great" movie, but none of them are, and this one didn't strike me as any worse than the others. (That award goes to Halloween III: Season of the Witch which, frankly, still makes absolutely no sense and is in no way even similar to the rest of this franchise.) While not being a "great" film (very few in the horror genre will ever wear that badge), this - to me - wasn't a "bad" movie. Just another in the long line of Halloween films where Michael "Indestructible" Myers continues to stalk and brutally murder...still without rhyme or reason. This particular film, at least, finally gave some teeny sort of "reason" behind the whole Michael Myers thing, although it was as dumb as dirt. It was a "flesh and blood" kid that murdered his sister that night so many years ago, so how can it suddenly be nothing more than an "essence" or whatever? That part was just goofy. The rest of the film stood up to what I feels constitutes a watchable movie: again, the storyline is unoriginal because this is just another part in a long franchise, so the story is basically the same, with no surprises. The acting was good, the dialogue was passable, the stupid gay couple added absolutely nothing to the story so I'm not sure what that was about, but anyway... The kills were better than the previous movies but let's face it: Michael Myers is predictable. He's going to either stab someone or bludgeon them to death. This is not "Jigsaw" we're dealing with here so don't hold your breath for anything original. That semi-accidental kill scene at 00:51:00 was epic though; I watched that about 4 times just to see it again. What a totally great idea; has to rank as a high point in the entire Halloween franchise. That was just awesome. More of that, please. The one thing that this particular film had going for it - and I don't know, maybe this is why people disliked it but I thought it was a neat twist - was the whole twist on the Halloween Kills title; fear and panic turned an entire community into blood-lusting crazed lunatics that realized too late they had collectively murdered an innocent, even if a bit looney, man. I thought that was a fantastic spin on the story that brought in a whole new level of how fear and darkness ultimately screws the human psyche completely up. Some people disliked this one, but at less than 2 hours, I found this very watchable and even enjoyable. I would still like to understand Michael Myers and how/why he is seemingly indestructible, but I guess they're never going to explain that. The far-fetched, vague excuses here are completely ludicrous. In any event, I found this a very enjoyable movie and definitely worth sitting through. At some points, yes, there are loopholes big enough to fly a plane through, but if you can just let your brain un-hinge for a couple hours, this one was a fun watch and a decent spin on the whole Halloween franchise. Definitely worth watching.
A worthy effort, if nothing all that memorable.
I found 'Halloween Kills' to be a touch below 2018's 'Halloween' in terms of entertainment and general interest, but like that one it does what it needs to do and produces something that is (narrowly, in this case) worth watching. I would've liked a bit more progression in the story, as this very much feels like the middle entry in a three-parter.
This flick gives more screen time to those around Jamie Lee Curtis, which isn't necessarily a positive (given Curtis is as good as she is) but the actors all do find jobs - even if no-one particularly stands out, at least to me. Away from the cast, the deaths are solid and the use of the iconic theme is spot on.
I didn't love this, almost nonplussed by it in truth but overall I think it just does enough to merit being filed under 'good'.
this movie is so dumb. Who approved this? honestly so bad . I get it , is a movie and shouldn’t be necessarily realistic , but pls … they rebooted this franchise for this?! they could have ended this here in a good way , but no… that wanted an unnecessary third
Evil dies tonight, did it though?
8/10
Halloween Kills
Extended Cut
Is for all intense and purposes a great
Halloween Movie
One of the best entries
into the legacy of the 41 year franchise.
Michael is at his best in this than any other installment
And with "31" brutal,
Nasty totally frickin awesome Kills just in this movie alone is their any wonder. They are definitely the highlight of the entire movie.
But as others this installment isn't without fault.
The people are more annoying than H18
And are so angry and pissed off to the point I just wanted them all
Fed into The Meat Grinder that is Michael Myers.
And the dumb, dumb decisions everyone was making just wanted me even more to see that
31 kill count hit it's mark.
(Glad I got my wish).
I loved the archive footage
Very clever and bringing all the original actors and Actresses back from 40yrs ago from the OG Movie was a smart move.
And the fact that they have
Bypassed every other entry apart from the
OG and H18
was a great starting point to tell a solid meaningful story of The Shape
And his victims and the carnage in his wake.
"IT'S HALLOWEEN AND EVERYONE'S ENTITLED
TO ONE GOOD SCARE"
(See you for yet another rewatch this October
For My 31 days of
Horror).
Damn it's worse than I thought
They really jacked up this modern version. Sad that it has come to this. So bad that I am probably not going to watch Halloween Ends
I skipped a few of the older ones to get to this because I thought it might be better, I was wrong. It is so much worse.
I wish nights were this long when I have to finish an essay for tomorrow and I haven't even started reading.
As a horror fan, the original film was mediocre at best, but to create a franchise out of someone that has no explanation as to why he kills is laughable. 1/10.
i watched this movie purely for the fact that the ending credit song is 'hunter's moon' by ghost , an amazing song by one of my favorite bands!! it was pretty worth it tho. good movie. better than i thought it was gonna be based on reviews
This movie got quite a bit of flack when it came out, and it’s certainly not justified. This is a brutal SEQUEL that hits on everything you want out of Michael Myers movie. Is it a standalone plot? Not at all. Are sequels all usually standalone movies? Nope. This is a fun Halloween, and works as a good middle entry between 2018 and 2022.
Rating: 4/5 - 8.5/10 - Would Recommend
Overall, it was a good slasher flick with a great soundtrack (and overall sound design) and some creative kills.
As a fan of the series, it was disappointing. I like what they tried to do, but the Simpson-esc angry mob ruined it for me.
why that ending? smh. just finish this entire character and don’t leave it on a weird endingx
“Evil dies tonight.” Michael Myers’ latest killing spree continues in Halloween Kills. A sequel to the 2018 reboot, when the people of Haddonfield learn that notorious series killer Michael Myers has escaped and is on the loose again they form a vigilante mob and go after him. Several cast members from the previous film return, along with Anthony Michael Hall, and give solid performances. However, the story doesn’t really feel in keeping with the reboot premise; as Myers is completely indifferent about Laurie Strode and the town is now suddenly obsessed with Myers. Also, Myers is back to being supernatural; seemingly appearing at will out of nowhere and unkillable. Still, there are several good fight/kill scenes and a couple of fun comedic bits. Halloween Kills is a problematic film, but it has its moments.
Heavy violence in this followup to the 2018 reboot. It is well directed and acted, but the story isn't quite as good as the 2018 version. Still a fun little horror film.
Episode 10x07
Wonderfully explicit about the gore and the murders, although devoid of plot, it serves as a direct sequel to 'Halloween Night' (2018) and showcasing the brutality of Michael Myers.
This more comedy than anything else.
“This is for Dr. Loomis!"
People made it sound like this movie was the worst thing ever. Have people not seen Halloween 4-8? This had some great kills and the firefighter scene was great. That being said, I was rooting for Michael because Haddonfield citizens are dumb.
I love the franchise, however I found this ending regrettable.
It would have been a great ending if Michael had died at the hands of the people, and the franchise had turned out really well.
Unfortunately for the fans, the filmmakers want to fill the as* with cash by force.
Then they made the man get up from the ground after taking 5 shots in the chest and a knife in the neck and killing everyone who was close to him and even more Laurie's daughter. He's just a man, how was that possible.
What a perfect ending .l.
They had an opportunity to finish the franchise and wasted it. What a disappointment :(
It’s weird to see so many people hating this while the equally awful “Halloween” (2018) surprisingly got good reviews. “Halloween Kills” is actually better paced and at least aware that, after all, we’re here to see Michael slaying people from the beginning to the end, no need for much talking. The script is so atrocious that every time the characters open their mouth, you end up wishing for them to die immediately (which basically happens).
Still, I was hoping for this reboot to stay on a more realistic path without flirting with the supernatural. I guess they just couldn’t resist.
As a movie: 6/10.
As a HALLOWEEN movie: 8/10.
Frustrating for the most part.
its like they stripped everything that made halloween halloween! and the people in this film are omg like u can be smarter than that yo.
I think it's a good movie for what it's supposed to be. Camp slasher. But even then it fails at some points. I like the mob mentality angle and how an innocent man lost his life because of it. As always, I'll give it one extra star because of Anthony Michael Hall.
It was actually interesting to see what we all have wanted to see, everybody killing Michael... more action than horror but still enjoyable...
Not sure why all the hate this is a good movie
Anyone left who does not accept that Myers is "not human", but the Evil itself? 'Cause Halloween Kills wont get tired to teach you.
worst plotting ever, stupid situations and inmortal human...
Summarising: Michael Meyers is now kind of a John Wick. See you next year for the “End”
Nothing comes close to the original, no matter how hard the director and producer try.
Evil dies tonight. Except you know, not
So incredibly bad. Like they got volunteers from the local high school drama club bad. Just terrible. Glad I didn’t pay money at the box office for this.
So, let's start, this film is horrible, is a pile of fuming shit, there isn't a single point where it is at least good, resuming from the last film and next year there will be another one, this serie needs to stop, it came to an end at the sixth film, now we are at twelve, please stop giving money to this film producers, Michael was really good, now it's no more
This was really a 5 but I popped an edible while I watched it, and was extremely generous
[spoile] SDo since Michael Myers is immortal and with that ending. THere is only one and only one story in next movie. That is he go straight to hospital slaugther evryone god in to the room with Frank And Laurie kills franks and then he kills Laurie and we see the back och micheal xit the hospital and then the movie ens. And then no one ever make a halloween movie again. Only thing i could live with. And only possible ending since you cvant kill him. So if you just made him immortal then thats the only movie i want to see for the last. So muchael cant die in last one and laurie cant surrvive. BEcuase if htat happens then why didnt hge die in this one when finally everyone got him? Me on other hand wanted that last scene tyo be the lst svene in the last movie and that he died on the streets and that everyone beaat shoot stamp. THen ths would be realistic,. Youreally finnally made this realistic til last mintes. I can buy that he is immortal bvut hen as I said the only thing that next movie can be is what i said. Next movie must be last ever. And next movie should pickl up right weere this ending. End only take place in the hospitalö and only ends with him killing Laurie. OTher then that. The nyou dont even lknow what you doing. And i will hate you for ever. [/spoiler]
I dig the psychological aspect of a masked serial killer killing people without opening his mouth.
The murder scenes were interesting but the rest was very weirdly written. Sure, this is all supernatural, but should persons other than Michael Myers behave in extremely uncommon ways?
'Evil dies tonight!' and presto: every kid and grandmother becomes Myers, albeit under a lynchmob guise.
I know e are in the pandemic, but is not an excuse to make such trash. This is an insult to horror films!!! This is the right time to kill the franchise. Oh DO NOT WATCH PLEASE DO NOT WATCH!
A quiet evening out for Michael Myers
I liked Holloween (2018) better. This is barely a passable follow-up. And hopefully, Hopefully, Holloween Ends (2022) puts a final and complete end to this saga.
The people in this movie are pretty much the mindless blind following the blind ...let's charge up this hill ... and over the cliff they go.
Plus, I definitely want to see more Laurie Strode - the lack of her presence saddened me.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Pretty bad i mean a lot of kills but thats it.
Most act stupid makes no sense i liked anyways only the remakes the real movies :)
The movie is hilarious, in which the people who yelled "evil dies tonite" right into our ears got their ass kicked in the climax. This is no horror but continuation of a franchise that serves certain sects just what they want to get served. And yeah, the sequel continues, maybe next Halloween? My take: 2/10 stars

Now that was great, plenty of good action, brutal scenes and casting, especially the guys that played little john and big john that brought the comedy and simple plot to follow like all the Halloween films because It's no different and you already know the story and doesn't need to change also brings a little more about who he is and what he's done to the town and loved it and I wouldn't mind another one.
