at some point i thought Severus was Harry's father.but it's not
I really am not okay
"After all this time?"
"Always."
This movie always gets me.
Also, Neville Longbottom, YOU MVP! <3
A good movie realy enjoyed it. But dam the 3D was bad! Skip the 3D if your gonna watch the movie.
missing hp so bad it hurts :(
There are a tons of awesome moments in this. The battle of Hogwarts was really well done. A ton of action makes up for very little in the first Deathly Hallows. Snape's story is heartbreaking. That final battle is intense and the ending we deserve between these two. Everyone gives a great performance. A great send off to a fantastic series. Now hopefully the Fantastic Beasts movies can start getting better.
Really this seems more appropriate to be the story of Snape. Heartbreaking every time.
Such an epic finale! I could have done without the time jump forward though. I really wanted Hermione with Harry. But they had to throw Ron a bone, Harry couldn't get everything haha. I'm an adult now and I still enjoy these movies. Such a great series and great world they created from the book
Harry Potter is awesome! Man, I'm loving this website, by the way.
Harry hankers Hermiones hairy heiny haha
Stupendous.
The Harry Potter films represent my childhood. I don't get tired of rewatching the films of this saga!
This was the first time that I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part II since I've saw it at the cinema, at the time of his release. And there it was the same kind of sadness and melancholy at the end of it, the same thing that I felt when I first saw it and the reason of those feelings is because It All Ends.
Cried like a little baby upon rewatching this series, one of my childhood favorites. All praise J.K. Rowling
74 | The first thirty minutes were pretty bad. The goblin had no reason to betray him because as we know he was a Voldemort's prisoner. The bank was already in Voldermort's hand and it was just dumb. But after that, this film quality went skyrocketed. It all began when Harry went to Hogwarts. At first, it sound like a pretty dumb idea but because we know Harry's character and how reckless he was, it was understandable. We called it a desperate move.
Professor McGonagall had her sweet moment when she protected Hogwarts, her home for a very long time. It also made us wonder where are all of these security systems in the previous films when a lot of dangerous people and things came to Hogwarts. It is weird to say this but Hogwarts's school system seems better in the hand of Severus Snape as headmaster. Because we all know how dangerous magic could be and his authoritarian way to teach students until they became mature enough to use their magic power could be a better way.
There were so many moments that made us emotional. It was not had the same level as The Dark Knight but some moments in this film had a similar vibe to The Dark Knight. The similarity is people were fighting to protect the place they love from evil being. In this case, students and teachers from Hogwart fought the Death Eaters. But where were their parents anyways? It seems only Weasley cared about their children.
The main focus of this film was Harry Potter and they did a good job, even though some details made this film seem to have a weak script. Films that contain war as a plot tend to give plot armor to their characters and unfortunately this film did the same. It is Harry Potter's last film they could be all-out killing characters but might be they tried to keep it as a family-friendly film.
The ending did not conclude the whole franchise well enough. The time jump is just an unnecessary thing to do. They could end it with the funeral of Severus Snape and all of the people who die fighting Death Eaters. And it could be combined with the faith of the elder wand. It would be a better thing to do because people who watched this franchise from the start have great memories with Hogwarts and the people in it than with random new family members. To sum it all up, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 deserved its spot at least in the top 3 of Harry Potter films.

Great action, very good cinematography, well acted, tense, this is what you want from a finale.
There are so many great and memorable scenes in this, but just like part 1, the logic is a little thin in places (Ron being able to open the Chamber of Secrets doesn’t make a lot of sense, Avada Kedavra killing the horcrux in Harry is a bit flimsy (shouldn’t the horcrux in Harry already have been deactivated when he got hit by the basilisk teeth in the second film?), what was the point of the deathly hallows exactly?, why does Dumbledore’s brother have the other piece of that mirror?).
It hits a lot of good emotional beats and pay offs (Snape’s memories of course being the standout), but a few of them feel rushed.
8/10
The best of the eight.
This movie always has a special place in my heart
Oh Snape I love you
Harry Potter is a Legendary Saga
I hope the day when I get bored rewatching Harry Potter doesn't come
A spectacular conclusion for an incredible saga ending with fights, deaths and an impressive battle in Hogwarts. When I watched it in the movie theater I wanted to cry at the end because I knew it was the end of this big adventure. Many beloved characters left us but I will always remember them and this franchise.
Just brilliant (as is the rest of the series) and the perfect conclusion of the Harry Potter series!
Great movie :)
A strong and worthy ending to a great saga. I particularity enjoyed the sound track of this motion picture, which added a lot of depth and emotion to a lot of scene's. Also the use of silence (as in: lack of background music) managed to add duress quite well. I haven't seen such thing in a blockbuster for some time.
Overall a nice movie adaptation that managed to reduce the impact of some major plot lines that where neglected in some of the previous adaptions to a minimum. But as always it could not take the time needed to unfold the plot as strong as Rowling did in the novel.
This is a great watch, but I can't help but cringe and feel strange over certain scenes. The scene when Harry returns to Hogwarts is bizarre - why is he randomly hugging all of these people? We've never even seen him speak to a lot of them. I also find it rather odd that McGonagall just decides to have the entirety of Slytherin house taken to the dungeons. Isn't the whole thing of Slytherin students being evil just supposed to be a dumb stereotype? These moments, plus some others, feel like cheap attempts at getting a laugh or emotional reaction from the viewer, rather than moments that actually make sense.
This film's structure might be the worst in the entire series. The pacing feels off. With that said, it's also a great time from start to finish. There's no shortage of fantastic character moments in this one, and the final showdown between Harry and Voldemort is done as well as anyone could ask for (though I didn't like Voldermort fading away into nothingness rather than just dropping dead).
I might sound like I'm being overly negative about parts of this film, but it's actually one of my favourites in the series. The scene where Harry gets Snape's memories and finds out the truth of everything is probably my favourite scene in all of Harry Potter. It's so tragic and it evokes strong feelings in me every time I see it.
Overall, this is a solid and fitting ending to a fantastic series of films.
These last two movies are, to me, the best ones in this already fantastic franchise. The character development, humor, emotional complexity, and action is damn-near perfect. The Harry Potter movies may be vastly different from the original books but these movies still manage to be awesome. My favorite movie franchise ever!
Best movie in the franchise, stakes are high and has a really neat ending.
An absolute brilliant film by David Yates. The movie looks and sounds really epic and delivers a very satisfying end to the Harry Potter series. I might also say that after this film Snape is my favorite character in the Wizarding World.
Harry not naming his child Rubeus is an insult. Instead he named him after a professor that bullied him relentlessly and someone that wanted him dead from birth
it's really a great movie
The final chapter in the Potter saga is a war epic and an emotional roller-coaster, effectively tying up loose ends and bringing the series to a satisfying close.
Script: 9
With only a small part of the novel left to adapt, the script puts a major focus on the final battle and its different phases. It feels like a properly epic ending to the series and re expertly ties remaining loose ends together.
Main cast: 9
The main stars put in largely great performances in the final film, showing that they've matured as people and as actors.
Supporting cast: 10
The guest actors are superb as always. Ralph Fiennes shows the amazing vulnerability and rage of Voldemort very well, and Alan Rickman does his best turn as Snape.
Protagonist & antagonist: 8
Harry is just as stupid sometimes as he had been since film number one. Voldemort has some very awkward moments and their final confrontation, while better from a cinematic perspective as the one in the novel, is too similar to Goblet.
Production: 10
It's as good as it can get. David Yates directs with a steady hand and the sets and costumes look great as ever. Additionally, they stay true to earlier films.
Post-production: 11
With beautiful CGI and a musical score bringing back memories all the way from the first film, every fan is bound to fall in love with the result.
Atmosphere: 10
The stakes feel high and the battle has many casualties, so the atmosphere is grim and sad.
Pacing: 11
It's sufficiently fast, but not to an extent. There are quieter moments and build-up, allowing for breathing room.
Expectations: 12
God did this film deliver. It tugs on your heartstrings and keeps all the essential events intact while changing very little.
Replay value: 10
Since it's the second part of the final film, it should really be rewatched together with the previous one for full effect.
Score: 100/120
. I don't like this end.. Harry and hermonie forever love..
After the slog of the 3 previous movies, this one is great. There's lots of action, intense moments and a climactic end to the story.
this part answers all the questions. very good
Awsome
Not even a fan but I really liked it
I'm sad it's over :(
freakin' epic! best of all the harry potter films, it kept me at the edge of my sit.. and i'm not even a harry potter fan.
Its finally over - 10 years.
It's great to see how much better actors they have become through the movies.
A couple of twists i didn't see coming, but was really good.
Really good ending. Maybe it was a bit ti fast at the end.
An exhilarating action-packed spectacle that delivers a magnificent finish to the beloved fantasy franchise.
the amount of time voldemort spent yapping when he could’ve just killed harry
Snape is one of the most underrated heros, his storyline is so sad :pensive:
3 movies in a row that make you cry though...
Summary: This film was good, but just that. There's solid scenes but just feels too much like filler. Part 1 and 2 could've easily been one film and potentially been amazing. But it wasn't, therefore it's just good. Voldemort and his goons were honestly bad villains, nothing special to them, nothing threatening about them. 6/10
Pros:
• I'm glad to see real Wizard combat after most of the other movies fail in this aspect.
• Harry and his friends seems to have grown as characters. Especially Neville.
Cons:
• The whole fight scene in the first half of the film feels very lack luster. Just vague fights here and there.
• I'd be more susceptible to caring about the deaths of Snape, Lupin, his wife, and one of the Wealthy's if they actual reason to care for their deaths. Snape is killed as a bad guy though he isn't, and the others are just killed off-screen essentially. No big moment of emotional impact.
• I find it incredibly hard to believe that a bunch of Hogwarts students could fight against Death Eaters with plenty of years of experience against them. And where's the "wizard government" in this situation? They're just non-existent?
• Voldemort's death was severely anticlimatic. He wasn't even a real threat. Harry just had to let himself "die" and then kill a snake and boom, easy defeat. Why did Voldemort bring the snake into combat anyway?
What a way to end this amazing franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 is everything I wanted from a conclusion to such a big franchise, and this film did it perfectly, I'm a sucker for a good conclusion and this film is the definition of a good conclusion.
It wrapped everything up perfectly, with some of the best writing I've seen in the films, it's the movie where everyone is at their absolute best, Daniel Radcliffe is the best he's ever been in this role and Alan Rickman is also the best he's been as Snape, the film has a stunning and beautifully emotional ending with one of the most well done fake outs of all time, incredible characterization was given to every character, including Neville, the action is stunning, the music is phenomenal, and it has a stunning and epic finale.
Accompanied by some of the most well used flashbacks I've seen in a film and some of the most disturbing CGI images I've seen in a long time, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was the perfect conclusion to this amazing franchise, and I honestly don't think they could've done it better.
I'm gonna give Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 an A+
Dumbledore: "Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living and above all, those who live without love."
Epic from beginning to end. It's everything you want as an ending to a legendary franchise and so satisfying. The most action we've had yet in any Harry Potter movie and the special effects are top tier. Amidst all that action, it still manages to hit with the emotions and conclude character arcs in satisfying ways.
We got a freakin Dragon for the first act. Helena Bonham Carter's impression of Hermione was perfection. The preparation for the big battle at Hogwarts was so excitable and perfectly staged and paced. McGonagall was such a badass in those scenes. Epic battle with the Golems, Giants and spiders followed by a thrilling Anaconda spin-off and a final battle that goes down in history. Neville was a bit cringe for me in some scenes but he finally gets his two minutes of screen time glory. Snape remains my favorite character overall, perfect character arc and those memory scenes were brilliant.
Great ending, it all feels pretty conclusive but I can't help but wonder what would come next if they were ever to do a follow up.
"always."
that pensive scene gets me.... this will always be one of my favorite movies of the series.
movie rewatch is done, time to reread the books.
I am emotionally and physically dead, do not talk to me for the next few years
I liked Neville from the start. What a guy!
I think one of the biggest compliments I can give this series is that none of the vfx took me out of the show. It felt like they only used cg if they couldn't do it practical. And it got me immersed in the story rather than "look what we can do on the computer".
And what a story it was. So many characters to love and not just the main 3. I went into this thinking I'd think it's stupid, just get it out the way so I can say I've seen the movies, but I absolutely love it.
I love this as a part two and as a resolution to the series, even if it is heavy on action and lacking in character interactions
"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living and above all, those who live without love."
A satisfying conclusion to the Harry Potter saga. Still really enjoy it and love the action. Still love how Ralph Fiennes laughs as he announces to the Hogwarts students that Harry Potter is dead. Lovely stuff!
And we get Snape's heroic moment, Neville being awesome, the poor make up to make Harry and friends look older in the end, the brutal death of Snape, the magic struggle between Voldemort and Harry, more deaths then I remembered, an epic soundtrack and a wizard battle.
Yes, a great ending to a fun movie series. Now I'm back to playing Hogwarts Legacy!
A great ending for a great franchise
7.5/10 - It's good and bad at the same time. IIRC I didn't really like any of the Harry Potter movies when they came out as I did read every book 4 times and the books are much better then the movies (probably applies to most movies that are based on books though as movies are much more compressed and one cannot translate all storytelling concepts well from books to movies). Anyway, this final movie answered a lot of open questions from the previous movie(s) but there are still a few important answers/scenes missing. E.g. it was very ridiculous that Harry simply broke the Elden Wand at the end. He used it first to repair his own wand (the one Hermione accidentally destroyed in the last movie and that isn't repairable with a normal wand).
The visual effects are awesome though!
The "recap" at the beginning was super minimalistic but better than nothing, I guess... :)
The soundtrack is still nice and I found a few parts quite interesting as they remind me of other soundtracks.
RIP Snape, Lupin, Fred or George, etc.
Unfortunately there are still many losses during this final movie.
A few nice quotes/lines though:
And even more awesome moments:
Kelly Macdonald (the scottish voice actress for Helena Ravenclaw)
Neville's speech and when he killed Nagini with the sword
The "19 years later" scene at the end <3 (a bit too short but much better than nothing)
PS: I have the Blue-Ray disc collection of this saga and this disc is the only one that comes with ads at the beginning :o :D (a silly Lego into and the Green Lantern trailer)
A great finale, as the worry of cramming in all of the unfinished business from the prior 2 films disappears pretty quickly and you end up with the thought of "wow, they did get it all in and it wasn't rushed." A ginormous plot twist happens about 3/4 of the way through the film that is a mind blower, just like many of the other films, which makes this yet another star film in the franchise. However, some of the lose ends like relationships might have been a little rushed, so they could have spent more time on that.
After ten years the Harry Potter series comes to an end in a spectacular and epic adventure in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Picking up exactly where Part 1 ended, the story continues as Harry and his friends return to Hogwarts to destroy the final horcruxes and made a last stand against Lord Voldemort and his army. The opening of the film is a bit awkward, but once it dives into the action it doesn’t let up. And the actors all bring their A-game, delivering some of their best performances. It all comes out in this final chapter; Harry Potter and Voldemort have their final battle, and all the mysterious are revealed. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 delivers a remarkable conclusion to one of the most ambitious film series ever made.

A decent ending for a saga that unfortunately had more lows than highs. It’s not a terrible movie, even though it felt inconsistent in too many aspects. Engaging and emotional scenes are followed by ridiculous moments, good visuals are mixed by cheap ass CG, good performances co-exist with awful ones, etc. The twists were quite predictable, especially the one rehashed from the first movie on a bigger scale. Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort was alright when he was first introduced, but this time he is way too ridiculous and over the top to be taken seriously.
The second half of Harry's grand finale is better than the first, but still struggles to cope with too many characters, too little color and an overstuffed dance card. There's just so much going on, and it's all so excessively dim...
Over-reliance upon book lore has been a long-term problem for this franchise, and that issue has only grown more pronounced as the film adaptations enter their final stretch. I have no idea how anyone could make sense of Deathly Hallows 2 without keeping a store of such information, fresh and reliable, somewhere in their noggin. Maybe a Cliff's Notes handbook and a hair-trigger pause button would suffice. Casually tossing about complicated concepts like wand allegiance, multiplying spells, hallows and horcruxes, the film skims along at a high speed, in breathless pursuit of flashier material. Of that, fortunately, there's plenty, and those bits are loaded with well-constructed callbacks to the previous films. The action scenes are constant highlights, excellent in concept and in execution; a fitting farewell, in their own way, for the series at large.
Quieter character moments are more of a mixed bag. Snape gets his big spotlight scene, after being completely ignored in the previous chapter, but most of the younger cast members are swept up in the desperate search for a soul mate. Everybody just wants to pair off, to hit that convenient epilogue with a litter of kids tugging at their shoestrings. Despite simmering for years and years, in many cases, such romances play more like a series of checked boxes than natural, heartfelt outpourings of emotion. Ron and Hermione are a prime example. The moment of their long-germinating embrace was evidently a difficult scene for the actors, who literally grew up together on-set, and their discomfort is clear on the screen. The kiss feels like an awkward, instantly-regretted smooch between friends, not a grand culmination, and that robs power from these beloved characters' storybook ending. They probably should've got that out of the way several movies earlier anyway. Here, in the midst of a hectic chase and a frenzied battle, even an effective payoff would've been lost in the mix.
Which is another recurring issue that this film never really settles. There's enough material for three movies in here (or a seven-hundred page book, as it were) and in trying to please everyone, to fit it all in, the whole package fades into a fleeting, dizzying wash. Nothing gets a chance to breathe, lest a different scene meet the cutting room floor. Crucial time is cut from meaningful points in the main narrative, dampening their impact, to cram in a few smaller, crowd-pleasing tidbits. But those, too, are over and done with so quickly that they hardly seem worth the effort.
In the end, we get (nearly) everything, without necessitating another weird mid-stream cutaway, but nothing is half as rewarding as I'd expected. A stumble over the finish line, in other words; a film that hits the novel's plot points but completely misses its spirit. Could’ve been worse, I guess, but it also could’ve been so much better.
It’s not perfect, but this movie has a special place in my heart.
And there comes the final showdown with the one that ends the saga. See you next December Harry
It all ends here!:
http://reading-rebel.blogspot.com/2017/10/movie-review-harry-potter-and-deathly_26.html
I was much hopeful after seeing the Deathly hallows:part 1 but this movie..anyone who has read the book will agree that this one is way too underwhelming. Many of the famous scenes of the book were lost in translation in the big screen. And there were plot changes in movie, in which they just tried to make an action movie without taking the dynamics of the story into account. This movie has annoyed me for years because it was not the farewell that Harry Potter series deserved.. But then, after seeing Fantastic beasts and where to find them, I have finally made peace with David Yates, that was a brilliant movie true to the soul of Harry Potter series.
rewatch | Slightly fell last fight H and V, Snape's memory, talk H and D. And a few others. But really there were moments! MOST BEAUTIFUL ADVENTURE!
OVERRATED. Harry Potter deserves a much better finale.
Greatest movie EVER!! <3
As I hated the book ending (I meand the really last pages), I hated also the cheesiness of the ending of this movie. Except this, I think this is a great movie, really really good.
