Great cinematic, great actors, dumb and pointless plot - especially the ending.
I want 2 hours of my life back!
What's happenned with this? It begins very good, interesting and beautiful, but the plot seems to fall apart till the end. Maybe I need to watch again. :\
Slow, dark (as in low light) and the plot does not make any sense at all.
Comments says read the book and you will understand everything, thank you but i watch a movie. If tha movie fails to add explanations and go to an artistic crap just so "you didn't get it ? you are not smart go watch a marverl movie" is is not my fault.
I'm all for winter and majestic scenes from Alaska and snow and slow paced films but my god deliver me something. This was slow as hell, boring, didn't care about anything and didn't understood anything other that everyone was crazy.
Fantastic worthless ending!
Thought it was going to be good but I just ended up confused
This movie should be called Hold the Remote, You'll Want to Change the Channel Soon. Nothing worse then a hollow story that leaves you confused at the end. The scenes added up to precipice drops where nothing gets resolved. I see the symbolism of the Wolves, Nature, and Witches but: Why did Medora kill her son? Who killed the other kids? Why did she call on Mr. Core if there was no need to find the killer wolves? Why did Cheeon and Vernon unite to kill cops? What the hell did the Slones want?!
Watch The Grey if you want a real outdoor thriller.
Wtf? I really, really wanted to like this film. The acting is great, the scenery is beautiful and the story seemed like it was going somewhere. But nooooo. It has to be artsy. I wonder if the book conveyed a message that they couldn’t get to in the movie. At the core, it ends up looking like the stereotypical “natives vs the outsiders” plus lore. Very disappointed.
so deep that he wants to reach the film ends up being pretentious and does not expose the concepts concepts correctly. Everything becomes a hodgepodge in which everything is worth
Made absolutely no sense what so ever. I'm sure if you read the book it would be helpful. Just skip it and find another movie
Beautiful film, zero substance. Left out huge plot points from the novel which honestly just leave the viewer super frustrated at the end. Not great, although the score and cinematography are gorgeous. Also, I loved the wolves.
This cold and menacing film will keep you on your toes. Go in expecting the unexpected and you might have a good time. People have complained about the movie's ambiguity, but I kind of liked that. Why should we be spoon fed plot exposition when we can think about it ourselves? And besides, there are clues scattered throughout the film that will add some coherence to the plot - you just have to look and listen carefully (or Google the movie, if you can't be bothered sitting through the film again).
B A D !!! don't waste your time...
until halfway through the film, I felt like I was watching Wind River (the shootout scene is half plagiarism). then I did not understand nothing.
it's a shame because the direction and the cast are very appreciable.
Quite a slow movie, and when things do happen they seem unnecessary and dragged out, even still.
If you’re expecting some big revelation at the end of this movie, don’t. It’s not so much about the beginning or the end as it is about the journey.
It was beautifully shot and the locations were astounding. The score was some seriously tense and wonderful undercurrent that completely set the mood for me. In-fact, about the score; I loved how it would peak up above the scenes from time to time with a quick cut and instant fade to black. It gave the movie a sort of episodic feel and was great at building suspense.
I enjoyed it even if it didn’t have a big closure at the end.
There's something haunting about the chill of remote northern locations in film. The Grey, The Revenant, and Wind River are high up in my list of preferred movies. Hold the Dark is there with them, if only just.
If you're looking for something that is paced, haunting, and cold, this fits the bill. Best viewed in the dead of night with the windows open.
It might not answer all the questions you have, but it knowingly advises through one main character's dialogue that the answers and explanations are there, whether you are privy to them or not.
I can't be more specific about if this is your sort of film without spoiling the contents within. I recommend it, not as a good time, but as a dark time.
8/10
Has a pretty good shootout scene
completely dark didn't enjoy it kinda waste my time on this one it is like watching a grandma walking in slow motion
The film starts with the wolves and then continues with the soul and the witch. Our lead actor is a John Wick, and 20 policemen, unfortunately, cannot kill him. There's a gap and a break in the script. But it was a movie worth watching anyway. If there wasn't a shortage, he could have got 10 points.
A moody, supernatural thriller not without bursts of action. Directed skilfully by Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room), this slow burn horror film may remind you of Let the Right One In.
Well It scores high on the scale for It's picture, It's cast and action but lacks a lot In It's plot and ending because I was In the dark on that one and really was a mystery and disappointed me so i was lost as much as the hunter..
No plot at all, had more questions at the end than I had at the beginning (which also starts very quickly, like any Netflix movie). But shots were very beautifully shot!
The atmosphere is chilling and the setting is gorgeous, but the plot is terrible and the ending is incredibly frustrating. I don't like it when stories don't make sense and when you have to come up with your own conclusion.
The cinematography is fantastic and it starts out great.
But the plot just gets gradually worse until the grand finale that makes absolutely no sense at all.
This movie is kind of like a fashion model, strikingly beautiful on the outside but beneath the surface there is nothing to catch your interest at all.
Bad very Bad... So Bad
Bad Bad Bad Bad bad
all those divided & very different comments O :) lets see the movie first
i will comment after for me look's good :) except it's a Netflix movie so like always not to much blood :)

Not bad but not great, I had high expectations because Green Room was so good and I'm a little let down. It has some beautifully shot Alaskan scenery but it is slow besides that one big scene. The story is a little too ambiguous for me.
