Holiday Inn 1942

A pretty good Movie,Not exactly a Christmas movie and also there is one particular scene that has not aged well and is likely to cause offence (WARNING-there is a blackface scene and although extremely offensive by today’s standards I don’t think the film should be written off ) putting aside that one scene I would say The Holiday Inn is worth a watch at least once.

Bing Crosby, Fed Astaire, and Marjorie Reynolds star in the Irving Berlin classic Holiday Inn. When professional song and dance man Jim Hardy quits the touring circuit to open up his own specialize country inn his old partner attempts to poach one of his headline singers. The performances are all pretty good, as are the musical numbers. And the comedy is rather quirky and fun. It’s a little outdated, but overall Holiday Inn is a charming Hollywood musical.

This is a classic and a favorite during the holidays, but its not technically a "Christmas" movie. Its revolves around a hotel that does holiday shows but technically they never do a Christmas show and most of the drama happens on other holidays. It became famous as a Christmas movie because this is where the song "White Christmas" was first introduced. It's pretty cookie cutter as far as the romance goes but its still a fun movie to watch, just don't be disappointed when you realize it's not Christmas focused.

Simply put, this has a number of Fred Astaire's best dance routines and the ICONIC version of Bing's White Christmas. Sure, it is dated...jarringly so at times...but the bubbly plot and expert execution makes this my choice over the Danny Kaye "White Christmas" released in color a few years later. This is the one I love and I hope you'll give it a chance. 10/10
