Terrible film, truly. The social media aspect of it was a pointless distraction that added nothing to the storyline, which is impressive considering how nonsensical and full of plot holes that was. The only impressive thing was the fact that they managed to make a film about social media that bears no resemblance to social media - how do you even manage that? What a waste of Chloe Sevigny!
I have never understood all this hashtag business, I am too old I guess, but the dependancy on social media is disturbing. This takes the issue to a shocking conclusion, more so as it is allegedly based on a true story. I expected a slasher pic, and it kind of is, but so much more.
seemed last in making it's point about tweens social media and corruption... If you want to watch 12 year olds bicker for a hour and a half, this is the movie for you

One of the worst movies I have ever seen, and definitely the worst movie of this year for me so far.
This is one of those movies where it's a bit bizarre how it is even sold in the wild. I can not in my wildest imagination believe that anyone, of any age, with any interests that this could appeal to. And I don't say this lightly.
I mean the movie just fails in every aspect. It's so poorly made (acting, camera work, pacing etc) that it almost felt like a parody of sorts. After the first 20-30 minutes I thought it was some sort of art-movie because of this, and that I just didn't quite "get it" yet. But as the movie went on (and on and on - I swear this thing feels like it's 4 hours long), I slowly realized that the movie was just that awful. And after that realization, the movie got downright painful to watch. I barely made it through the last 30 minutes.
It's also not one of those movies where it's a "so bad it's good" type of thing. Because of it's subject matter and because of it's complete disregard to any form of quality, it just got really annoying. If it tried to be funny and/or artsy, it simply missed the mark by an immense amount.
And frankly, considering the subject matter of the movie, it's pretty astonishing how it does not manage to convey even a slight sense of a coherent or relevant message anywhere. Honestly, I don't even remember the last time I saw such a pointless movie. It's also not a horror movie by any sense of the word. It didn't even have scares, not even in the simplest of form. Actually, I'm not even sure what genre this should count as, considering the almost non-existent content in it. Oh, and I have to do this; even the damn sound is awful. And I don't care about sound. Oh well.
I will end this by saying that it's not often I truly believe that I have "wasted my time" with a movie. Almost always there is something to be had for it, even if it is sometimes laughter. But this time I can actually say that I feel like I lost a little bit of my life. I strongly urge anyone to avoid this garbage of a "movie".
