House of Wax 2005

The Wax House is a very cool idea for letting people disappear. Rather brutal and gory. I seem to be one of the few you really enjoyed it, but hey, who cares? Everybody as he / she likes, right?!

6.5/10 rounded up to seven.

I remember watching this movie when it came out.

I don't watch a lot of horror or slasher movies, but this movie was very enjoyable. I really appreciate how they took to time to introduce the audience to the characters.

Setup, story, progression of events were all well done. There are some very cool artistic moments that could have been cheesy but I appreciated them.

I would absolutely recommend this movie to watch, even if you're not the biggest horror / slasher movie fan.

It's a very strong 6, almost a 7. It's a decent little slasher flick.

Any movie which ends up playing My Chemical Romance is a good movie!

First of all, I want to say that Paris did nothing wrong and her Raspberry Award was undserved: her acting was on par with the rest of the cast, and that is just average. The movie, though, SUCKS. It takes half of it to happen something actually exciting, as they were "building" the characters before with no real pay-off for the narrative later. The concept is interesting and some of the kills and their aftermath are super creepy, but the rest of them are just random kills to single down the two survivors. Soundtrack is ABSOLUTE FIRE tho.

A gory version of "Is it Cake?"

I don't typically rewatch old horror movies like this one, but it popped up on NF and it has been almost 20 yrs. I'm the same age as most of the cast so it was fun to revisit this and see how young everyone looks. A solid soundtrack for the most part and some decently creepy moments make Collet-Serra's feature directorial debut a fun enough rewatch, but the final third did sink it into a bubbly mess. Didn't regret rewatching, but it's still only a 5.4. Not awful by any means but not good either.

Gotta be the most based soundtrack

House of wax? More like House of wack.
It was alright, the story was the best part but it was a very cliche teenie horror movie otherwise.

This film is what you would expect from the general horror movie. There were some interesting scenes here and there, and the initial part was actually entertaining to watch. However, the actual plot left much to be desired, and what were supposed to be the horror scenes felt only like some generic action sequences.

The plot is nothing special. It has an interesting concept - and, in fact, the initial scene is quite intriguing -, but seems to fail to live up to its potential, turning into just another 'traumatized boys murder people' plot. The twist is cliche to the extreme and felt entirely without purpose or much consequence, except to give the movie a sequel. The villains were poorly developed, and much potential was lost.

While the main characters start off interesting enough, and the acting is better than in most horror movies, Wade seems to turn into someone completely different once he enters the House of Wax.

The movie is entertaining, but it seems lacklustre, and like it failed to deliver its own initial potential.

The idea is cool but wasn't executed with care.
Eh, like the majority of "enertain the general audience" movies.
Enjoyed the authentic 2000s vibes, liked the movie mostly because of it (so I'm a bit biased).
It'd scare me a little bit if I were a teen.

As much as I want to love the movie for the certain parts and the idea, it has a mediocre plot dynamic, weak acting and LOTS of moments that sacrificed logic for plot reasons (e. g: characters not hearing loud screams nearby ).
All in all, intriguing but sloppy.
