Its is not "So bad it makes it good" It is just bad.
This is the original Cats movie.
This is the epitome of a bad '80s movie. Where do I even begin? How about the terrible effects? One would imagine if you are making a werewolf movie, you'd want the lycanthropes to look good - not Howling II, it has its own agenda. Okay, there was a standout moment were someone's eyes explode, that was great; would have made Lucio Fulci proud. Another moment worthy of mention involved a bat puppet; it was cool, but why a bat? It was not the only time the mythology was mixed. Werewolves are not vampires, and vampires are not werewolves - maybe if you have a hybrid, like in Underworld, but no, here they just seem to be confused.
Next, we have the acting, and editing. Satan, take the wheel. The acting is so over the top. The editing looks like it was done with a butcher's knife, and the various wipes were so hack, I thought the movie was trying to be funny.
That's another part that bothered me: there are moments where it feels like the movie is trying to be a comedy. Trying, but failing.
Is there anything good about this? Well, Christopher Lee is in it. Simply put, he is far too good for this. Another bonus is the nudity; not all of it is fantastic, but Sybil Danning's jugs are glorious. What isn't amazing is her outfit; I don't know if it's supposed to be haute couture or armor. Either way, it's hideous.
Speaking of bad attire, we'll move on to my least favorite part: Ben White. What a name! What an absolute douchebag! He plays the quintessential '80s hero; that is to say, he's a total tool, dressed in his best Canadian tuxedo. Seriously, the people behind the editing, and costumes, need to be executed for their crimes against humanity. The worst moment in the whole movie involved good ol' Ben, holding a gun to a guy's nose and asking "where's the nearest airport?" Sorry, am I watching a Mel Brooks film?
What an absolute pile of garbage. Aside from some boobs, this is a total waste. I can't even recommend this for an '80s cheesy guilty pleasure. It's just bad.
However, I will say, the goth band was nice. I like the little music video that acted as the closing credits.
Oh, it is bad; but it has Christopher Lee (who later apologized to Joe Dante while filming gremlins 2 for being in this)
Sybil Danning is also in this in her great over acting b-movie queen role as Striga the 10,000 year old warewolf.
Plus it also stars Reb Brown Coming off his star making roles in Captain America, and Captain America 2.
Shot in Communist , Czechoslovakia it is not used well. The best part of the movie is the closing credits where we repeatedly get to see "assets" of one of the stars and corny reaction shots of the other actors in the movie. We also get a confusing music performance three different times.
Stay away unless you like the corn.
Wow, this was impressively bad, but not outright boring, and had werewolves, so I give it a pass.

The soundtrack I just could not get past. Ugh.
