Meh. I am not happy with this movie, it was okay but not as good as his other films. Sorry.
Light, funny and entertaining!
The story of flight Peninsula 2549 from Madrid to Mexico. The crew and the passengers discovered that there were some kind of trouble with the plane and they were flying around in circles because the plane couldn't land in security. They all have to deal with the possibility that they all could die. Well, all less the economic class, they are all asleep all drugged.
The acting was good with a special mention to the the three gay flight attendants that were hilarious! The I'm so Excited song moment was so funny!
In this film Almodóvar criticizes society in general and the crisis in Europe but you must read between the lines. The politics, the economy and the rich and powerful people always rule the world.
Muy buena, y el nombre en castellano es "Los amantes pasajeros". Malisima la traducción del nombre al ingles. :)
This is just a really fun film. Definitely worth a watch. Is absurdist and sometimes plain stupid but that's kinda the point. Underneath all of that there was however, still a message.
One thing which should be pointed out is a woman rapes an unconscious man (mild spoilers). I would argue that the scene does have a purpose if you take into account the scene that sets it up, but I've come to that conclusion thinking about this film too much so it's possible that I'm reading into things too much.
I ... I'm not sure what just happened. It's like a train wreck that you cannot look away from. There's definitely a subtextual critique of contemporary society and politics in there which is subtly crafted, but what it is layered under was ... fascinatingly bizarre.
For those with delicate sensibilities, just be aware that there is a portrayal of unconsensual sex.
