Joaquin Phoenix essentially decides to quit acting and pursue a hip hop career in this "documentary." I have to give the filmmakers, especially Joaquin Phoenix himself, a lot of credit for going out there and acting in front of the world during the filming of this mockumentary. There was certainly effort put into this. The problem is that it's just boring. The film's beginning and end are boring, and the middle is only mildly interesting. It could have been so much more than this. Too bad.

The fact he kept this character going for 2 years and fooled the world, just proves he's one of the greatest actors alive.
I have a lot of respect for Joaquin as an actor and the fact that he did this for apparently two years is quite incredible. He is an amazing actor and if I hadn't known that it was a hoax I would've probably believed that he was truly gonna stop as an actor. The doc itself was just really cringy and kind of boring to get through. The concept was interesting and Joaquin was very convincing though.
This was a very interesting film. A hoax that apparently went on for 2 years. I think this movie is genius! Best parts were his rapping performances and his meeting with P Ditty.... it was interesting to see an accomplished actor so vulnerable and insecure just like the rest of us.... great movie.
