Into the Woods 2014

Unfortunately, the last act brings down the movie (it's dreadfully boring), but it has it's moments. Agony and Stay With Me are some of the highlights.

I love every minute of it. It's this year's 'Frozen', an enchanted one. I adore you, Emily Blunt!

I found it rather boring. This isn't my kind of musical. I guess it's simply too classical/old for my taste. Both the story and songs/music didn't really interest me.

W/ the very first words of the film spoken/sung by the actors, I knew that this was going to be practically unwatchable. The first song is horrible. It's not even a song. It's just normal speech being sung. It's terrible. The fact that James "Defender of the Most Useless Family in the World (the Kardashians)" Corden is narrating and has an acting role really grinds my gears, as well. I can't, for the life of me, imagine these A-list actors wanting to be a part of this mess of a film. I couldn't even make it through the first abomination of a song, before I turned this off.

Maybe it's because it's a fairytale and there is singing, but... I LOVE IT.

Too drawn out, 90 minutes might've been perfect.

I like the idea of 'Into the Woods', with its mash-up of numerous fairy tales from 'Cinderella' to 'Little Red Riding Hood' to 'Jack and the Beanstalk' to 'Rapunzel'. I'd also say the musical pieces are enjoyable across the opening 20-30 minutes, which are nice and energetic.

However, from the midway point things start chugging down to a snail's pace. The novelty of the premise begins to wear thin, as it becomes clear that there isn't much more to tell - despite a load of the 125 minute run time still remaining. I will say, though, the look of the film is pleasant.

I do also rate the casting. James Corden seems to split opinion online, but I've always liked him; having watched and enjoyed him since his career took off with UK TV's 'Gavin & Stacey'. Emily Blunt and Johnny Depp are two of my favourite actors, while Meryl Streep and Anna Kendrick are strong casts. I like Chris Pine too, but he's iffy in this.

In conclusion, I almost found entertainment with this but overall it disappoints due to its poor pacing and gappy plot.

An array of amazing actors star in this film from Johnny Depp, Meryn Streep to Emily Blunt. They all have fantastic voices and portray their characters well. I personally love this movie version of the musical.

The pros of this production are it's well cast, and a lot of the individual musical numbers are pleasant to listen too and gorgeously shot. The cons are that every change hampers the drama and humor of the stage production. When I see the stage show it makes me cry every time, with this I feel nothing.

It wasn't good... and it wasn't bad. It just was. But I liked some of the irony, even though some of the singing was annoying.

Great FX, acting, and OK singing... BUT the music is awful. There is hardly a tune I would ever want to hear again, in fact it was difficult to sit through these quasi-opera songs that have such little musicality and appeal. Pity, it got in the way of the story and I did not enjoy the movie because of the music... and I like musicals!

I was definitely going to give a 10 but the final acts made the movie not that good, it's and 8

My wife picked this up for £1 on blu-ray and made me watch it as it was "her turn" after making her rewatch Jaws. ITS VERY LONG. it was ok in parts, im sure the kiddos will enjoy it, but it felt like a 4 hour marathon. Great cast though and i admit to belly laughing a few times.

Disney brings the Stephen Sondheim Broadway musical Into the Worlds to the big screen as a lavish fantasy adventure. The plot combines several Grimm fairy tales, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel, and puts a new twist on them. Featuring Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep, and Johnny Depp, the film has an all-star cast that delivers some impressive performances. But the production is overdone, making everything feel staged and contrived. The characters also seem slightly askew; having been mishmashed into each other’s stories. Additionally, Sondheim’s music can be a little bombastic at times, and doesn’t flow organically. Into the Woods is an ambitious film that gets points for creativity, yet tonally it never quite comes together.

I didn't know the original musical nor did I know anything about the story before watching the movie. I must say that I was a bit disappointed by it. For me it was missing the big emotional musical numbers and the story wasn't that interesting either. The acting and singing was good though.

I loved the movie, I found the musicals interesting and the story itself. Disney always surprising.

I had recently seen the musical, so I expected this movie to be really good. I was quite disappointed. The music is great and the actors singe quite well/better then expected. The realisation unfortunately was really bad disappointing – I was way more impressed by the musical which cannot use as many special effects as a movie could…

I should also add that a lot of parts of the movie I found annoying, and just dragged-on...many plot lines were also never explained. No character felt like a main character as well, which made it hard to care for anyone specifically, especially when they treated the ends of their relationships and deaths of their loved ones so casually. And another note, the amount of times "the woods" was sang...smh.

Somewhat entertaining, with stunning visuals, and good musical numbers...however wasn't a great balance between "i've seen that before" and "that was unexpectedly depressing."

I was hoping this movie ends, from the beginning. I didn't like it.

Incredible boring :(

Plus: much more people that can sing (Depp is there like for 5minutes)

Minus: boring, long, boring, not fun, yet again remash of classic fairy tales.

Bad
