This movie terrified me so much (as a 10 year old) that I couldn't even finish it. When the teacher eats the frog, that was the last straw for me. Me & my little brother straight up left the theater right at that moment, while my dad & older brother stayed to finish the movie.
We sat in the car in the parking lot in like 90+ degree heat rather than see the end of it. I don't even WANT to rewatch it!
I remember being terrified by this movie back when i first saw it as a kid, especially the ending got me nightmares. Still fun to watch it now for the second time.
Watch this movie just to hear the quote "Marines don't have qualms about killing Martians."

A remake of Menzies' 1953 classic this attempt pales in comparison. It has none of the heart and little of the creepiness of the original. This reboot doesn't really change much. It has better special effects and Karen Black but outside of that there's no reason to watch this. Scratch that. Louise Fletcher is also good as the alien possessed school teacher. James Karen is the absolute worst thing in this movie. His portrayal of General Wilson is just irritating. He screams and barks orders with abandon. The Supreme Leader of the Martian race was an interesting looking Stan Winston creation but it couldn't save the movie either. The run time of 102 minutes
seemed about a half hour longer than that.
