"No, no...not the Rainpipe!!" A really funny cartoon featuring a cat and bulldog, with the cat being punished by the bulldog every time he disturbs him. The cat is after a pesky hummingbird and pleads for mercy after each of his failed attempts to catch the bird. The dog puts the cat through such horrors as "The Fence", "The Thinker" and "The Works". This is better than it's sequel, 1951's "Early To Bet". I think the most entertaing aspect of this short for me, other than Mel Blanc's amazing voice work, is the non-chalant way that the bulldog just goes about his business of torturing the cat. And that little dance he does when the bird hums "I'm Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover" is great.
