this movie's been getting slammed pretty hard I actually enjoyed it I liked it better then the last several Saw movies it felt more like a call back to saw one and the Final Act brings all the moving pieces together for a really good oh s*** that's what happened moment
Ugh, I'm bitter.
Why are they still trying to make the SAW franchise work? This whole plot of apprentice imitating John Kramer has NOT aged well for the series. The movie don't work as a sequel, nor as a way of rejuvetate the series. I'm going to keep pretending it doesn't exist because as dysfunctional as it was the seven previous movies at least worked together.
Extremely predictable. Even to the point where any "twists" were obvious. But, this is my type of movie so... Loved it!
This looks more like a parody of Saw
My mind has been blown away.
I didn't expect an end like that. I have to confess that after a few moments I realized that it was a little bit like the others movies, but, I guess everyone thought that the Detective Halloran was the killer but surprise he wasn't.
The movie had such a good twist, the traps were pretty good and new, and I just loved it.
Confess or die!
New Saw movie, new detective character. New Saw movie, new bad actor group ready to die. Everyone outside of that group were decent actors though so it's really a shock in quality when the movie goes from one group to the oher. Billy the puppet looks like a Toys R' Us toy now, not creepy in the slightest but totally laughable. Jigsaw's workshop is terrifying. Excellent gore and good looking wounds. Not the best traps in the franchise but respectable. I liked the twist. Epic final scene.
Traps Ranked (worst way to die order):
1. Human Blender - doesn't last long until you die but it's atrocious pain
2. Needle Hangers - you either get hung or have acid injected into you. The acid is much worse but either way this is no good
3. Grain Silo Trap - being buried alive. Not an instant death. No thanks
4. Laser Collars - instant death. That was so epic
5. Shotgun Keys - instant death. Amazing gore
6. Leg Wires - at least it looked instant and painless but the after part is when it hurts like hell + try not to die of blood loss
7. Bucket Room - easiest game in the franchise? It only requires a blood donation, basically
Why they would revive the franchise only to recycle a plot that has already been recycled by previous Saw movies is beyond me.
Started cool with a good thumping soundtrack but endless adults screaming like babies made me turn it down and I never turned it back up. Man the f:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:k up and die silently scumbags!
now this was really unnecessary
Holy shit they actually did it. Reaching a new low of ridiculous. This series doesn't get worst, just more stupid and laughable.
The series can be infinite as long as there are followers of Jigsaw and new traps to create, because people who need to repent of what they have done.
Some puzzles just aren't worth figuring out. There were pieces missing anyway, two of them labelled 'originality' and 'coherency.' Not awful, just pointless and contrived.
always loved this types of movies! loved this one! favourite horror movies!
Sure, it's nothing groundbreaking, but it's another solid Saw entry. If you like the series, you should dig it, unless you're getting bored of it. I quite enjoyed it. Nice to see Jigsaw back at it. The banana peel scene was great!
After number two I thought the traps went a little faulty, didn't think they'd be fixed, but the saw franchise has made a come back, the rust has been removed, the traps are set again, the games have got better and pieces of the Jigsaw have been found. It's action, cast, story plot and twists are winning the game. If you think you've predict the ending like I did then think again because your In the game too. What's your confession?
While the pieces were well made and they fit together nicely, the end puzzle was the same as every other film that we already Saw.
Not as much torture porn as the previous ones and I liked that. If you liked the old ones then you will probably like this one. Some cool deaths and traps and as always the classic twists and turns of who done it.
Remember when Saw movies were coming out every year and each one of them seemed to just be another collection of elaborate death scenes loosely stitched together by listless, convoluted "plot"?
Yeah, this one's the same.
Needed more gore and better acting.
I never want this movie franchise to end!!! Freaking love it
Hold on, hold on, first off I've waited a long long time for this movie but it's left way more questions than answers! Jigsaw could've been so much better than it was though not the worst of the latter Saw movies it's far from being the best,so let's start with the unanswered questions, (SPOILER ALERT)
So it turns out 10 years ago a mistake at the hospital meant John Kramer never had a brain tumor so he endured painful chemotherapy for nothing! So fast forward 10 years another game is started by Jigsaw (John Kramer) but it's not Jigsaw setting the game its another protagonist who Jigsaw saved from his game 10 years previous & he's the one that mixed up John Kramers results in the hospital! So this new protagonist as started a game by himself copying the game he himself was in 10 years previous. It turns out John Kramer is dead but it never explains how! Did he have a tumour or not? & If this new protagonist as been with Jigsaw from the beginning why doesn't the movie explain what happened to Dr Gordon as in previous Saw movies he was the one with Jigsaw all along, then we come to where the movie is mostly shot it's a barn belonging to John Kramers wife Jill Tuck so how does the new protagonist get to use this barn & set all the traps without Jill Tuck knowing? And Dr Gordon said he was carrying on John Kramers legacy in Saw 3D at the end of that movie Dr Gordon as his helpers so was this new protagonist one of them?...i could go on & on with all the unanswered questions so I'll just leave it upto you to watch the movie see if you can answer them!
I am a huge fan of the SAW franchise so, of course, I was definitely going to be seeing this. I wasn't sure what to expect but about 3/4 of the way through, you think the big twist has been revealed, and then bam, right at the end, there is another twist. Saw back at it's best imo, although it wasnt as "gritty" as I liked. 8/10
After a “terrible” ending and a 7 year back, what could this entry possibly bring to the table? Surprisingly, a good amount. To this day I am kind of sad they haven’t ran with this sequel. There was a promising set up established that needs explored. Fans of the series should enjoy this one.
Rating: 3/5 - 75% - Worth Watching
Perfectly okay movie. Nothing really good or bad to speak of. Decent traps, decent twist, neither really outstanding. This mediocrity may be its downfall. Logan ultimately isn’t as iconic as John, tragic as Amanda, or as schlocky as Hoffman, or have any of their camp, so he just doesn’t stick. It’s no wonder he’s the only Jigsaw not to get another movie. Say whatever else about the rest, they give you something to remember, good or bad. Jigsaw’s too afraid to take a big swing in fear of being relegated to the level of the previous films, and loses some of the fun in the wild nature of the franchise.
My journey through the Saw franchise continues as I lead up to Halloween 2023. Jigsaw , however, feels like a spinoff rather than another installment in the franchise; the story doesn't seem connected to the first ones, the traps are as gruesome (or moreso) yet they feel "hateful", like the antagonist is hoping to watch his victims suffer. What made the original Saw movie so psychologically thrilling (and twisted) was the "realism", the believability that Tobin Bell portrayed as "John Kramer". Rather than coming off as a psycho who derived pleasure from tormenting his victims, "Jigsaw" John Kramer came across as legitimately wanting to give his captives a "second chance"...a shot at atonement, if you will. Here, the entire story - from the opening trap to the final one - comes across almost the opposite: "I'll give you a chance to account for your sins, but it will next to impossible and I really hope you don't have what it takes because - truth be told - I want you to die, and I want you to SUFFER before you die." The whole thing just felt like a sidestep away from the continuity of the...well, at least the first three Saw films. Additionally, the acting here was subpar, feeling forced or phoned in with no interest at all. The conclusion, where the writers/producers attempted to wrap everything up nice and tidy, was (IMO) a complete fail: I was more confused trying to follow Matt Passmore (as "Dr. Nelson") and his explanation in the closing scene than in any of the previous Saw films...and that's saying a lot because the longer this goes, the more muddied and confusing it gets. It's a great franchise, no doubt, but by this time - and again, this is purely my opinion and everything is subjective - it's become so convoluted that it's lost the "charm" and the appeal of the original or the first couple of sequels. Still love Tobin Bell but the rest of the cast here in Jigsaw just blew chunks, really. The traps were elaborate, yes, but there needs to be a story explaining the why's and wherefore's of said traps. Here, there was just nothing but pablum. Certainly my biggest disappointment in the franchise thus far.
silly little barnyard traps... go home farmer john!
After the awful "Saw 3D", I liked the production values in "Jigsaw" a bit better again. The film doesn't necessarily look good, but at least acceptable. The pacing is also okay, making the movie reasonably entertaining. However, I'm not really satisfied overall because the eighth Saw part just doesn't fit into the context of the series at all. The twists and retcons make little sense, which makes figuring things out less fun. And the level of violence has also been lowered, even though that used to be the franchise's flagship. At least some of the references to earlier installments work, though, so I was reasonably satisfied in the end.
Yeah. Just rawdog that usb into your laptop. Living life on the edge there buddy.
Solid offering in the series.
If you enjoy the Saw style films, this was surprisingly close to the formula. Would watch again. Just not for a bit.
“I speak for the dead."
This was definitely better than the "Final Chapter" but felt like a made-for-tv movie. I do like the twists and traps, I just am always perplexed at how much time the killer in each movie always has to plan things out.
This seems like a saw fan trying to make a saw movie
Ending good though
6/10
In the 7 year gap between Jigsaw and Saw 3D, nothing has happened to make this film exist besides a desire for money. There is no plot point that justifies rebooting the series and starting the games again. The traps are dull and nothing I care to rewatch (save for the final trap), and the main story is a tad predictable. I figured out from the trailers how "Jigsaw" is back and killing again, and the guys at Bloody Disgusting figured out who is running the show before the reveal. This also just doesn't feel like a Saw film. Perhaps it's how it was directed, perhaps it's the lack of in-depth detail when a character dies (you get the most gore during the multiple autopsy scenes), but this lacks the feeling of a typical Saw movie. Not bad, but not exactly a point to promote the movie.
While the new writers got back to the basics of what Saw is supposed to be about--testing people who threw away their lives or were corrupt/wicked and harmed others--the rest of the movie just isn't interesting enough to justify rewatching. To date, despite my hatred of Saw V and Saw 3D, I've rewatched either of those films more times than Jigsaw. This movie isn't bad, it just isn't interesting after the first watch. There is no "must see" moment or clever plot twist that makes you say "oh shit." This movie merely sets up future movies, and apparently did not even do that properly with the announcement of a second franchise reboot Spiral: From the Book of Saw.
10/10

Of Horror.
Was good but the final was very bad
Shame. If you've seen ANY of the previous Saw movies, or have an IQ above 80, you'll see every twist coming a mile away. This almost feels like a Saw fan film, to be honest. It's lost that epic and convoluted feel the previous installments had, something I actually found enjoyment in. This is one of the better directed Saw movies, but certainly the weakest in terms of the writing, with the twist ending being the lamest and underdeveloped twist I've seen yet in the series. The mystery element is extremely predictable, and like I've said, if you know the plot elements from the earlier movies, you'll predict what happens, easily. For example, in the movie, the detectives and doctors are dumbfounded that the killer's blood matches up and is under the victim's finger-nails. even though, the killer's been dead for 10 years. I immediately remembered back what happened in SAW V, when Hoffman, one of the original killers, used another person's finger-prints to handle a body, pinning the blame on them. And guess what, that's exactly what happens here. Someone planted the original killer's blood under the finger-nails. Nice original twist, you got there, guys. The only reason I'd recommend checking this out on video are some of the kills, which are pretty cool, but there's nothing here that screams a theater experience. I went against judgment from others, telling me to not bother, but I went anyways because I'm a Saw fan, but I'm a little disappointed. Seeing Tobin Bell in the role was cool and some traps were nice, but just overall, lame.
I didn't mind Jigsaw the first time around back in 2017. It was a new Saw film and I thought the main game was decent enough. Upon a repeat viewing in 2019 it doesn't hold up particularly well. It's not as bad as Saw 3D, but it might be as bad as Saw 4, possibly worse. The main game's cast only has two intriguing characters (Anna & Ryan), and the traps aren't particularly notable. The characters on the cop side of things aren't great either, save for Eleanor. The entire sequence with the Kramer reveal and the shotgun trap is the best part of the entire movie, and gave off solid early Saw vibes. It's a shame it's over so quickly. The laser collars were ridiculous. 2/5.
Jigsaw is back (or is he) in this latest installment of the Saw franchise. When a police informant claims that a new Jigsaw game is underway and bodies start coming in the police find themselves in a race against time to find out who’s running the game and save the captives. Featuring Callum Keith Rennie, Laura Vandervoort, and Tobin Bell, the cast is pretty decent. However, the story kind of muddles up the chronology of the series (making it even more convoluted). Yet the mystery of who’s the new Jigsaw, and the subsequent investigation are fairly intriguing. But what really counts in a Saw film are the traps, and a couple of these are rather clever (others are ridiculously complicated). A mediocre entry in the franchise, Jigsaw more or less follows the series formula and delivers what one would expect.
Nicer to watch paint dry. Booooring.
mediocre. seen it all before
such a forced and cliché ending
I had already given up on this franchise after Saw 2, so I went to this movie without significant expectations. Well, it turned out to be a nice surprise! Far from besting the original, but sure as hell is better then 70% of the earlier instances.
Being a fan of the series Saw, but on the end began to blow, this chapter has me reconcile with the franchise.
Underwhelming, convoluted and simply dissapointing.
Same old Saw, same old puzzle pieces. Was really hoping for something fresh when I heard that this series was being revitalised. But alas, I was left with a cliche and weirdly meshed comedy body-horror movie that the previous films had already done. That said it's not boring.
It tried to bring back what the original had by switching between the police and players of the game. Though it worked, it lacked originality as it's just a rehash of the previous films. Not really giving off creativity between characters either.
Now, the climax. I didn't expect the ending to be as satisfying as it was for me. I went in not expecting much after hearing bad word-of-mouth of this movie beforehand, so when the end came I was pleasantly surprised. Which is why it gets a higher rating then what I would have given it. Though it blunders over the development of characters and falls short of delivering a mystery plot and instead focuses on the traps
As a jumbled mix of the old movies, it would be a good film to show someone who hasn't seen any of the Saw movies as an introduction if they like modern body-horror. But I still recommend the original movie before any of the sequels.
has a fan of Passmore, i was very exited about this. i sure miss the glades and his character and i still think he could do better things. freaking awesome ending!
Let's just cut to the chase: Is it a copycat, or is Kramer alive? Watch and find out. This movie isn't as a good as the previous movies, especially 1-4, BUT it's far superior to the 3D movie (a Jigsaw that gives no choice is no Jigsaw).
Ok, I'll give my opinion on this movie. I am probably one of the biggest fan of saw, this movie is not the worst and not the best of the series! I personally love it! if you are a fan of saw you will love it otherwise you will not like.
7/10 for me !
More of the same. If you like the other Saw movies, then this is worth watching.
Entertaining and tight pacing mystery. Gory, but not overly frightening. Though I do think the mother with a six year old girl leaving the theater was just a little irresponsible.... 7/10
hasn't he died like 8 times already in those 7 previous movies?..

Despite the good efforts to connect the movies, it feels more and more and more forced.
