1948, One Island, One Giant Grave
A noteworthy example of 'local cinema'. Jeju Island in 1948, local villagers
sought refuge in a nearby cave and this modestly produced black-andwhite
drama tells that 4.3 story. Thanks to the scale and sound effects etc.,
this film seems a cine-requiem despite its low budget. ‘Jiseul’ is a Jeju dialect
for a potato.
