I wasn’t expecting much and it didn’t deserve the budget and rating It got and glad it wasn’t a reboot because it had no chance to live up to (Robin Williams) masterpiece but don’t get me wrong it was alright, it kept me entertained at times with It's sense of humour, It's action, little cheesy at times thought and I liked the game theme style and specially the characters that brought the comedy to the jungle. It needs to up It's game in the upcoming threequeal.
Just got back from the new Jumanji movie, and I had a lot of fun. All of the characters were great and they had fantastic chemistry together. I loved the Rock and Kevin Hart (back from Central Intelligence), but Jack Black really stood out with the funniest and most eccentric performance by far. The setup for the movie was solid (albeit a bit simple), and it served its purpose in giving us funny scenarios for the characters. This is definitely a fun movie to watch and just enjoy for some laughs and action especially if you haven't seen the trailer (the trailer spoils a few of the funny scenes). 7/10.
I don't care what people say... I liked this movie! Sure some bits where predictable but I laughed most of the movie! Just like Baywatch... Don't think to much and just enjoy the movie
I honestly don't understand all the hype and high scores and positive reviews on this movie.
To start off, the 20yo "high school students" are nowhere near believable, but at the same time they're such stereotypes-on-legs that one feels the urge to just punch them in the face. Not only their personalities, but their every single interaction as well is so sterotypical and predictable that they're literally painful to watch.
Once they get into the game, it doesn't get any better. The fact that they're sucked into a game only serves to negate any and all sense of danger they may face during the "adventure": with three lives, you just know that whatever happens to them will have no consequence whatsoever - if anything, they manage to utilise "death" as a game mechanic to help them along the way; heck even their weaknesses become strengths, if not just butts of jokes. Their transformation only goes the most predictable way too: turning into their own "inverse" versions, with one or two character traits preserved to make everything else about them a joke. The world itself is poorly utilised as well: the source of the main dangers isn't nature but bandits on motorcycles, with some bad CGI animals only occasionally getting in their way. Even the story is non-existent, with a huge timeskip after a short intro, because gods forbid they actually continue where it was left off, or just bring it to present days right from the start.
The actors at least try to make an effort to do something with their characters, but quite frankly the ensemble of a muscle-brained G.I. Joe, a middle-aged unkempt Indiana Jones, a black valet, and Lara Croft has too little originality to it (ie. none) for those efforts to make much of a difference. Not to even mention the pilot, who couldn't be more generic if he was actually cut out of cardboard. But hey, at least Jack Black gets to play a teenage girl.
I'm not sure who felt that making this movie was needed. I'm not sure who thinks walking clichés and d××k jokes constitute a "fun family movie". Take away the title, and there is quite literally nothing to see here that stands out from any similar "lower tier" flick - none of which ever gets this ridiculously overrated.
I was wondering how this movie was going to go since they modernised it the way they did. But it worked so well! I laughed, I was on the edge of my seat because of the excitement, and it was a really beautiful movie to look at. There is a slight chance that I loved this one more than the original. The cast was amazing, and the script was fast paced and well written. With just the right amount of adventure and jokes. I really enjoyed it and I would for sure watch it again!
Little shoutout to Jack Black. The whole cast was amazing but that man, he was brilliant!
It was a lot of fun... and Jack Black was great
I really enjoyed it! It was entertaining, guaranteed to make you laugh! Jack Black was amazing in particular. :')
This was an absolute gem. Laughed the whole film through!
I'm 34 and extremely hard to satisfy with comedies and non-drama movies. If something doesn't make sense it ruins the movies for me and I'll give bad review.
In this one, not at all! I was entertained the entire movie! I doesn't take itself seriously and there are great self-awareness moments. Everybody did a good job, and my wife and I had lots of fun.
Easy 8/10.
Very recommended for everybody!
after 15mins turned it off, dont want to spoil the memory of a great movie from my childhood with this nonsense. how do i give it a 1/10 rating?
The original Jumanji, released in 1995, is remembered fondly for its fun-filled adventure and a great performance by Robin Williams. However, upon closer examination, it is fair to say that Jumanji was not a particularly outstanding film. With the current trend of franchise reboots, Jumanji may seem like an unlikely choice for a comeback. But nostalgia can be a powerful force.
A prologue in 1996 sets the stage for the story, with young Alex Vreeke disappearing while attempting to play the game. Fast forward to the present day, and four high school students - Spencer, Fridge, Bethany, and Martha - find the new video game version of Jumanji in detention and decide to play it instead of cleaning the school basement. They are transported into the game and take on the avatars they chose, leading to a series of comedic body-swap scenarios. The group must complete the game and return the Jaguar's Eye jewel to its rightful place while also escaping the clutches of the villain Russel van Pelt.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle updates the franchise for the 21st century with a bigger, faster, and more action-packed story. The film cleverly replaces the outdated board game with an older-looking video game console and transports the characters into the virtual world instead of bringing the game to the real world as in the original. The constant stream of comedy and likable cast propels the otherwise thin story into a fun and entertaining adventure. The body-swap premise works well and is executed with humor and clever use of video game format. The cast all seem to be having a blast playing their roles, with standout performances from Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black. The pacing of the movie improves after the first 20 minutes, and the two-hour runtime never feels tedious as the group faces various obstacles and dangers in the jungle. The movie stands on its own feet and pays a nice tribute to the original film and Robin Williams' character, Alan Parrish.
A cool movie, I really like the idea/concept and it was quite entertaining.
Those for characters (kinda misfits :D) are so funny together. It's cool how they've been introduced IRL and the story then continues in the gaming world where they play different characters with different traits/stats.
On a side note: I'd really like the ability to play a different character in a gaming world ("Ready Player One" style). I imagine it'd be so cool to explore different personalities, ages, and even a different gender. The possibilities could be limitless.
Anyway, it's nice how this movie merges gaming with a classical adventure story. And we have that meta story (their friendship/relationships) that makes it meaningful.
There are also a few quite good (funny) lines/dialogues <3
PS:
I'm not even going to bother reading other review because I really don't care what other people thought or felt about it; this was a terrific movie! It's so much fun - as much as I enjoy him (and have followed him since his early WWF days) and his "tough guy" roles - it's just so much fun to watch Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson play the hapless, helpless jabroni sometimes, and he played the part to a "T" in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle A lot of fun, a lot of action, a plethora of side-splitting one-liners and parlay between the characters and as awkward as it was, I have to give huge kudos to Jack Black for playing the spoiled prima donna here. Again, he played the part beautifully. Not sure why I waited so long to finally watch this - and I don't remember ANYTHING about the original, with Robin Williams so I'm not comparing one to the other - but this was so much fun. I will definitely watch this one again...and probably laugh myself sick all over again!
Dwayne Johnson is not Robin Williams, the whole movie is very average. The situation was saved by Jack Black. +1 for the flirting learning scene.
I liked this movie a lot. I think they did an amazing job making it feel like a game. Very entertaining and funny, would recommend.
Yh I know Karen Gillan's hot I get by now.
8 - Great
Definitively a surprise that it's such a great movie, though that's mostly the acting and not necessarily the plot. Something different than the original, but that isn't a bad thing.
Zoology, bitch!!!
So retro, I really loved this.
this was lowkey funny and a good time! plus, i think the premise of getting sucked into a game is awesome. oh, and it also needed more women. i was excited when i first started it thinking "oh damn this is actually going to be 50% male and 50% female", but then one of them turned into a man, and then nick jonas completed the bunch , making it the usual 4/5 male 1/5 female lmfao, nothing we're not used to ig
7/10
The movie is so silly and really fun to watch! Some scenes are ridiculous and (in most cases purposely) cringey. The original version was much more serious and nerve-racking. This sequel was more concentrated on the comedy and combining awesomeness and awkwardness, which I'm not saying is bad! But the first part made me more nervous then laugh, while this one was the opposite which separates it a lot from the original version in my opinion. It doesn't feel that much like a sequel (not saying that it is a bad thing). But I still loved it and was not disappointed! The actors were a perfect fit and I just loved the whole idea of how Jumanji evolved into a video game so it would draw people to play it. Really gave it a new level of creepiness for me.
Well I had my feelings that this sequel wouldn't be as good as the first especially without Robin Williams, they should of kept the same premise and have children find the boardgame not young adults, you definitely notice Robin Williams missing there no substance, and what's with the guys on motorcycles, should of been more CGI animals would of worked better...they should of not made it...4/10
Just like McDonald's... A 7/10 and ya knew it walking in
The movie is quite ok and funny, but I'd also recommend watching the original. It is obviously not quite as modern (they are using a board game) and funny but it is a bit more serious, has a great cast and is in my opinion the better movie (although IMDB currently says otherwise).
I watched the movie with prejudice. But it was a successful. Cast was very good and could not have a cast that much fit and it was fluent movie
Dont waste your time. This empty shell of a movie has nothing to do with Jumanji nor does it have a plot or any moment of fun whatsoever. I haven't even cringed trough the whole film, it simply gave nothing, just bites your time. You deserve better, don't waste 2 hours of your life on this crap.
The draw for me to this show was Dwayne Johnson (son of Nova Scotia born Rocky Johnson from Amherst) and Karen Gillian. I'd alway thought I'd enjoy The Rock but was never drawn to his movie choices, and Karen Gillian has been crushing it ever since her DOCTOR WHO days. This movie was a blast! Situationally funny, challenging social mores, drawing life affirming conclusions, big adventure, great comedic timing and talent. It was a hoot and I'll probably watch it again when it is released to DVD. I give it an 8 (great) out of 10. [Young Adult, Action, Adventure, Comedy].
What was really disappointing was that this didn't really follow in the footsteps of the original Jumanji movie. There was no need to title it "Jumanji," they just set me up for disappointment.
The original film had such a great format, they roll the dice and some new danger rolls in, and they have to survive whilst still trying to carry on with the game, adding new dangers every time they roll. It's what made Jumanji, Jumanji. The new film didn't follow that at all.
The characters were all sucked into this Jumanji video game with 3 lives, so there was no real danger. It's their in-game "avatar" that dies and immediately comes back, rather than any consequence, so the exciting danger that the first movie had wasn't there.
To add to that, the effects and scenarios that the characters are put in just aren't as good either. The first Jumanji had monsoons, swarms of dangerous animals, stampedes, all coming out of this board game into the real world. In the new film, the Jungle may as well not be there, the main threat is a gang of people on motor cycles. A few different poorly CGI'd animals make brief appearances.
It wasn't very funny either. The trailer probably shows you the funniest parts, and even that wasn't particularly funny. It wasn't an awful film, it just wasn't good.
I’v been wanting to watch this film for months and it didn’t disappoint. Great cast, even the random hottie was brilliant! I say random hottie, it took me the whole film to realise that she plays Nebula in guardians of the galaxy! Damn she looks great as a human being.. Jack Black 10 out of 10 for his performance! He made me laugh the most.. Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart will make any film work together.. what a great film to end Easter!!
very funny and also very crude
The first is much better, due to the late great Robin Williams and musical score by the late James Horner. Welcome to the Jungle lacks the fantasy, mystery or excitement of the first.
I say "first" because this is actually a sequel that starts out right after the 1995 film. That film had it's goofy moments but this one is mostly goofy. I also think there was more to the board game plot of the first. Since there was more surprises with that plot.
Welcome to the Jungle is more Pixels in the Jungle with Breakfast Club like characters. Doesn't capture what I liked about the first. Yet, it some how has 77% good reviews and the superior 1995 film only has 50%.
Let's start by the obvious: comparing with the first one. The basic principle is kinda kept, people end up in the game in real life. It's a jungle full of dangerous creatures and they have to finish the game to get back. However this one is more of a kid movie than the first. A lot less on the adventure side, it's basically just a jungle themed comedy with some action scenes.
The scenario is really basic, the game part even more. There's no tension, they're never really in danger. They start with three lives and, obviously, finish with only one left each, but deaths are mostly jokes and happenng out of danger zones. Gillan's character takes a bullet once. That's the only real death. The other includes:
- the mandatory out of nowhere death to introduce the danger and life system (eaten by a hippo, quite cool, and brutal)
- being pushed by another player (out of a danger zone)
- 2 strategic death, using it as a game mechanism
- one is given
- being bitten by a mosquito (out of a danger zone)
- eating cake (out of a danger zone)
- being scared by a squirrel
No that many dangerous animals, the villains are just riding around and the lead villain is basically inexistent. The game levels only offer minimal challenge. So yeah, not nearly as thrilling as the first one on the adventure side.
But if you take it as a comedy, it's actually a pretty good one. The jokes and situations are really funny. The characters are quite good. And the actors even better. The fact that they all end up in game characters that are they total opposite gives them opportunities to play both their own cliche character and their opposite. And they do it quite well.
Bethany's character is a cliche pushed to the extreme which is already funny, and annoying, in real life, but when played by Jack Black, wow, that's hilarious. Superb performance.
The Rock being at the same time his usual badass and scared of squirrels is surprisingly good too. Just a standard nerd IRL, nothing special.
Martha has the best IRL character, her response to the gym teacher was brutal. And also the best in-game character. Flying kicks and dance fighting FTW. Karen Gillan is stunning.
Can't say that Hart gives much of a performance in comparison. He's playing the same comic relief token black character that
could have been imported from any other movie. Not even in sync with the IRL counterpart.
The pilot is bland. He looks interesting when introduced, knowing all the traps, appearing to have mastered life in the game, kinda like Robin Williams' character in the first one, but nothing comes out of it.
"I hate this game"
This is kinda awkward isn't it. When you anticipate failure, but got something different. Those trailers didn't do any justice for this.
'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' aims to entertain families and succeeds just on that. Was it great? NOPE. Was it terrible? Not really. I enjoyed the film is basically what am trying to say.
It's got flaws - The storytelling is really generic and you can pin point how scenes are gonna turn out. It never gets intense during the urgent moments. The villain is so forgettable that I can't even remember his name. Which is a shame because Bobby Cannavale is a great character actor and I've seen him do incredible stuff, however his talent is put to waste here.
Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Jack Black, and Kevin Hart all had really great chemistry. The back and forward humor between them made for some enjoyable scenes. Some jokes are hit or miss for me, however, the jokes that miss are nothing embarrassing like some family films.
I liked how against the character tropes you would expect to see from these actors, a part from Kevin Hart and I will explain why after this. Dwayne plays a wimp. Gillian plays a socially awkward teen. Jack Black plays a 16 year old girl stuck in an overweight middle aged man's body. Makes it more funny and not too formula. Kevin Hart plays and acts like he dose in every other movie. You can see a character there, just not to it's full potential.
Jack Black steals the show, in my opinion.
Overall rating: If you want a simple pop flick with fun action and solid entertainment, then this ticks all the boxes. It is was it is. Self aware at best.
Wonderful! So much fun! Everybody was great, but Jack Black stole the show!
This was an incredibly funny masterful sequel to the original. Enjoyed every minute with a fantastic cast!
Much better than I originally anticipated. Very funny, the characters are actually really interesting. I particularly loved how it plays out just like a game with character traits, cut scenes and background characters.
This is a fun "turn your brain off" movie. Plenty of jokes, decent action, and all around great performances. Jack Black really being the standout with the gender swap. Some nice call backs to the original without making it necessary to have seen that. There is enough here that everybody should have a good time watching this.
Great movie. 6-year old girl, 12-year old boy, and 48-year old dad loved it. Funny, good action scenes, not too scary for the younger ones. Good family fare the The Rock is so good at picking.
A lot of fun. Maybe too many jokes (although many are quite funny) and it's about 20 minutes too long but the clever writing and great cast makes up for that.
Humor and excitement for both parents and kids to enjoy. I loved the tie-ins to the original Jumanji.
The actors played and mimicked the expressions of their young counterparts very well. Kevin hart and the Rock are such a good comedic pair. Throw in Jack Black and you’re begging for laughs.
I really enjoyed this film. I loved the original, and was worried what would happen with a sequel (?) so many years after the original, but I felt like it was great overall.
The main cast had some fantastic interactions with each other, and I liked how they were all portraying their real life counter parts. Personally thought Karen was quite good at being the shy, uncomfortable school girl, and The Rock being, “Not-The-Rock” was quite funny.
Some hilarious moments in it, and a real “feel good” factor. I liked how they linked it to Alan being stuck in the jungle from the original Jumanji when they see his name etched in the wood. Nice touch.
Would be interesting how the next one turns out, because I always find “new character development” films are better than “now the character is developed have this story involving them” type films.
Now this is a great new Jumanji with a modern twist. The character development, casting and filming was all so good. The comedy twist revolved around today's tech makes for a great watch and has you fall in love with the characters even more, as a group of detention teenagers get sucked into a video game version of Jumanji and just like the original end up finding an old player.
the best thing about this is jack black being a girl's girl :D
Fuck this shit. Five minutes was more than enough for me.
Okay, I may've jumped the gun ever so slightly. I saw that it has Karen Gillan, Dwayne Johnson and Jack Black (divn't like Kevin Hart), so I thought I'd give it a further few minutes and would you believe it, it was quite enjoyable.
One of the most fun and awesome blockbusters of the 2010s. Extra half star for Jack Black's performance in this. This is equal to the original in my opinion.
"The goal for you. I'll recite in verse / Return the jewel and lift the curse / If you wish to leave the game / You must save Jumanji and call out its name."
I went into this one not knowing what to expect and damn this just so much fun! I love the original Jumanji but taking the movie inside the game is the best thing. The casting is top notch. Love seeing Karen Gillan kick ass, chemistry between Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson will never fail and Jack Black playing a teenage girl is simply comedic gold.
I love these kind of adventure movies and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle didn't disappoint. Easy to follow, Kevin Hart explodes while eating cake, Jack Black teaching Karen Gillan to be sexy, Dwayne Johnson's people's eyebrow and many more. I'm even excited to watch the sequel later this week!
Good times.
Realllly loved this movie. I am a hugeee jumanji fan. Cant compare to original because in my opinion totally different. They are both amazing. Sooo much funny moments, great cast. Jack black was my favorite in wish I didn’t expect that at all.
Perfect and funny for a lazy night on the couch.
I think this is such a well done sequel to a film done over 20 years later. I realize that some are unhappy about the changes to the game itself, but I feel like it was a brilliant way to incorporate it changing as times changed. The game adapted itself. Video games became more popular than board games; so it fits. In this case I don't see any real reason for such a detail to have stayed the same, because it wasn't a redo; it was a sequel and a new story, and a redo just wasn't needed since the first was so good standing on its own. I think most of us can agree that good ones don't necessarily need to be redone, but that making something new from the inspiration of the old can be a lot of fun. Speaking of fun, this movie makes me laugh a lot! Oh yeah, and I loved the short and sweet way they did the callback to the original; "Alan Parrish was here."
"I hate this game"

I love it! Reminds me of good Indiana Jones, not as good but it's still great
Number Two Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle
Sony's Wreck-It Ralph. That's not an over-praising of this movie. It's a lot like that movie both in style and story elements, as it pokes fun references to most habits of video games. Like Disney's Wreck-It Ralph, there's lots of great character arcs and sweet moments, genuinely funny scenes, a heartfelt conclusion, and supremely creative fast-paced action. A bit of the story could use work in the last two acts. Some of the epic-feel that the first act presented was a little lost among the humor and formulaic story beats the last two acts kept striving for. There's the awkward romantic sub-plot involving two pairs of the group, a dramatic reveal of one of the introduced characters, a little tangent where a shut-in character is taught to do something brave and out-going, and etc. In comparison to Disney's movie, there's a lot of pretty clever in-jokes about the nature of video games, such as quick-time events, cut-scenes, and NPC's only have a limited range of programmed responses in conversations. What I wish the movie did was go all DAE way, just go nuts with it's premise and tackle video games as a whole. Go insane. Imagine what this movie could've been like if it went into hacking and using physics cheating like the shit you'd see in Garry's Mod servers. Holy lord, I'd pay to see that. But, you know, they got to keep things simple for most audiences, and that's okay. What makes the movie work very well, is it's characters and their interactions with one another. What delighted me was I was able to forget I was watching The Rock and Kevin Hart be themselves. They managed to pull performances that fit right in with their corresponding written characters (The ones outside the video game world). They felt subdued enough that it didn't feel like I was just watching celebrities on-screen acting stupid. Sure, there's stupid and way over-exaggerated jokes, but it works, and it's part of the fun. The whole movie works to certain degrees and that's what surprises me. I expected to just walk out so uninspired and lost on many of what it attempts to do, but I found myself smiling and some-what giggling along with the rest of the crowd, who were howling with laughter.
This is what a blockbuster should be. I'm not saying remake all old properties, but if you must, do something different with it. Give it a reason to exist. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle overcomes all of it's obstacles, remaking an "unremakable" classic, being branded with infamous Sony pictures, and having just general low expectations among other movies released around the same time. It's not perfect, there's beats I had issues with and there was a lot more that could've been developed, but as is, this Jumanji sequel explodes and roars a breath of relieving fresh air and was a lot of fun, something I don't say about most blockbusters of today. I'm looking at you, every shit Marvel movie released this year. Surprising to find the director of this mostly did adult comedies before this.
Fun movie! Lacked the mysterious thrilling vibes of the original but that could also be because I was a kid when I watched the 1995 film.
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Four characters that quickly grew on me. Excellent choice in casting.
Remaking a much-loved film is always going to be a risk and certainly when the news filtered through my reaction was luke-warm although to be fair with remakes it generally always is.
The trick to this enjoyable and funny remake was the casting, with ‘The Rock’ Karen Gillan, Jack Black and Kevin Hart doing the heavy lifting you are looking at a fairly stellar cast. On an off day they could all mess up the film but as it is the chemistry and fun is there to see and everyone seems to enjoy their job of being a video game avatar inhabited by a very different teenager. All good stuff.
The second improvement is updating the format so that Jumanji is one of those old cassette player video games. Just on the cusp of the video game explosion, there were some weird ones out there and Jumanji would fit perfectly into that niche. The teenagers that are sucked into the game are extremely cliched but the charm of the film and fun of the story just about keeps that under control and to be honest those clichés are needed for the fun ahead with the avatars. The get out of jail card that the makers have written themselves in a stroke of genius is that the Jumanji video game is a bonkers, no-sense, late eighties video game so what happens once our heroes are in the game follows that mantra perfectly. In fact man-eating hippos and dirt bike riding henchmen in the jungle actually is so loopy it makes perfect sense within the framework. Very clever.
The main actors seem to have fun playing their roles with Johnson admiring his own huge physique with amazement early in the story, Karen Gillian immediately questioning what she has to wear a crop-top and tiny shorts to fight baddies in the jungle and Kevin Hart lamenting his only role in the game as ‘carrier of equipment’ particularly as he is black in ‘real-life’ and the game, but the plaudits go to Jack Black who with some skill transfers the self-obsessed, social media junkie teenage girl into a form that is well…..Jack Black, as you can guess physically there is no similarity but he has got that down to a tea. As someone who likes the work of Ryhs Darby I was chuffed to see the Kiwi comedy actor turning up in a pivotal role.
Once the film dives into the world of the video game the story really takes off and laughs and sense of fun and dare I say it even peril are kept coming fast and furious (yes I did go there) and the only lagging and stumbling we get in this remake is when we are outside with the kids. This is never more true than at the ending of the story with too much be tied up a little too neatly, It was as if they lacked the confidence that remake was not quite good enough to get a sequel. Oh ye of little faith.
Overall the action, the acting and fun are high on the scale in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle but with all great films the cast seem to come together and connect all are on top of their game and everything slots into place.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sounds like a remake that is not needed, it should work, but against all odds it is a fine fun film and very entertaining.
What more can you ask?
It's a really, really, reeeeally dumb movie. But to be fair, I don't think anybody would expect it to be a masterpiece, so... no disappointments. It's actually better than I thought; entertaining and fun to watch, despite all the cheesy lines and the soooo very predictable plot.
I just have a major complaint though: what the hell happened with the helicopter? Why didn't they just use it to get to the top of the jaguar? When did they ditch it? And why did they need it then, at all? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
Also, no gamer worth that title would stop looking at the screen to check instead where the buttons are in the controller... :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
Just started and I’m already loving it. It feels like I’m watching the old movie without watching the old movie. Huge childhood-vibes already. Can’t wait to see how this is going to go.
“Where’s my hair” and “AAGH! I’m a Middle Aged man!” already killed it :joy:
And “:two_hearts: that’s a man right there...”
Spencer: don’t cry don’t cry don’t cry
Gosh this is so quotable.
Smouldering intensity.
Weakness: cake :joy:
"Charming cast and a humorous twist to offer an undemanding yet solidly entertaining update on its source material."
I'm honestly still on the fence with this one, it's interesting but it just doesn't have that feel to it like the original. Some remakes just shouldn't be made and I think that this is one of them.
Jack Black rules! Thought it would be a terrible movie, but quite enjoyed it.
It's funny and the characthers are funny too. I really enjoyed my time watching
Watched with the youngest middle kid, T. Fun. Nothing special, but fun. We'd watched the original awhile ago and T really enjoyed it, despite the aged computer generated special effects.
I'd seen only bits of the plot to this in trailers and didn't know much beyond that the stars (from the poster) were in it. I was confused when the focus seemed to be on a bunch of kids... All got resolved hilariously, I really liked this bit.
I'm pretty "meh" when it comes to Jack Black (loved High Fidelity, liked School of Rock, HATED Nacho Libre), but he was perfect in this. Also really enjoyed the play between Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart (Weakness: Cake). It's still weird but great to see Karen Gillan in movies as she will forever be Amy Pond. I'm glad she's not being typecast (her roll in the MCU is awesome). My daughter laughed her butt off at one particular cameo...
We had a lot of fun watching this.
This movie is as funny as it want to be. Jack Black brought together
Pretty decent. The plot is ok, and if you're looking for an easy-to-watch, entertaining comedy/action film, here's one of those.
I just got finish watching Jumanji and it was surprisingly good. This is by far the best movie that Dwayne Johnson & Kevin Hart has starred in. I usually find Kevin Hart to be more annoying than funny, but in this movie, he was enjoyable to watch.
I wouldn't mind watching it again. I give it 7/10
I originally thought this movie was just okay. But it has really grown on me. Even one was quite perfect. There’s also good laughs.
Had fun. Had some laughs. Updating the original one for today's time. Nothing new to see here.
I’m old enough to remember the original and I much preferred this re make. The kids enjoyed it and Jack Black & The Rock are just great.
This have to be one f the worst movies i have watch with Dwayne in it.
This was a very particular type of torture.
I laughed SO MUCH! Such a wonderful cast. And Jack Black acting like a teenage girl? Absolutely hilarious. Great movie. Very fun, very entertaining, and so darn funny. Loved it!
Well, I wasn't erm... board (sorry)... but like the first film, it was enjoyable escapist fare but no classic (sorry fans of the original).
That's so much better than i thought. Really funny and the best part; its not a trash
It has been a long time since I have laughed from my hart as much as in this movie. The actors are amazing.
Do not forget that this movie is more of comedy action! Recommended :)
i luve dhis muvie beacase i luve to fap to The Rock, Hs so sexy, really, he is so focking hót
This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time, I could watch it every day. AWESOME MOVIE!
Better than it has any business being. I think the best part is the pacing - and the directive team deserves props for this. The characters (both sets!) are likeable, and the movie has a perfect balance of comedy and seriousness. The video game references are good too, never being too obnoxious. Do not sleep on this movie, it's nothing like you think it is. I haven't seen a movie that made me feel this good in a really, really long time.
Really Great movie to start my "2018 movie list "
. Nice fun comedy , adventure & suspense . A light fun movie which is very rare these day obviously
Spencer is supposed to be 'Fearless' yet, he's afraid of everything! This one plot hole distracted me from enjoying the movie everything he got scared or frightened of something.
Jumanji was much better than I expected, but I didn't expect to ever watch it.
The chemistry of the cast was amazing throughout the entire movie. They did a bang up job putting this group together. The movie is a fun action movie, with some fun/silly jabs of video games mixed in.
The story isn't anything amazing, and some of the dialog felt weird, but I laughed throughout and was entertained for the full 2 hours.
la película es entretenida con algún que otro toque de humor de originalidad lo han intentado por lo demás es muy recomendable
Such a blast. Really fun update of the series. The cast is great and have lots of fun with each other. It's a great family adventure.
Tons of silly fun, with great dialogue and terrific casting and chemistry all around on the game side of things while those on the reality side were serviceable and at least didn't torpedo the larger effort. Despite having heard some good things that raised my expectations about this one ahead of time, I was still very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed almost everything about it. Solid entertainment.
This movie was better by far from what i expected..Really great humor and some badass scenes very enjoyable!
I would rate this with an 7 but i give it an 8 for Karen she was amazing!
Good all around fun with very good visuals, some great ‘Hawaii’ backdrops and ... did I say fun?
Great job by the main cast portraying characters which were at poles with what you would generally expect
Fun. Enough said.
I liked this one, but to be called "Jumanji", the first was much better.
Wayyyyy better than I was expecting, although to be honest, my expectations for this were very low. Seem they are only casting the Rock for chaos movies nowadays, Rampage, this, San Andreas.
i enjoyed watching it. fun and adventurous movie.
A surprising amount of fun. Jack Black and Kevin Ryan just about steal the film, but Dwayne Johnson is also really great at comedy.
Nick Jonas and Karen Gillan save the movie, to be honest
This movie is not has good has the first one. This is more family orentent, then the original. They should have left has a board game and not do a game console version. The characters did a good job, but there are some corney scenes in this movie. Saying that there is also some funny moments in the movie.
The villain in this story does not play up to the potetial of a good villain. Not the actors fault, just the way the plot was written. This good have been such a better movie if the story line was better.
i liked this movie is hilarious
nice movie..i enjoy it with my family
much much better than it has any right to be, far better than the original. Just lots of fun, reminded me of guardians of the galaxy.
So freaking funny, any time you have Dwanye and Kevin together expect laughter, I love that they stayed clear of original one and and made it their own, love it
This was much better than I was expecting. It's nothing like the original, but as a standalone movie I thought it was great. I was laughing almost the entire time.
Not enough Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N' Roses for my liking.
Such a fun movie. The cast was great. Kevin Hart really nailed it for me. His characters comedic timing was on point. I hope there isn't a sequel, because then it would just feel milked. Will watch again!
Went into this movie not thinking I was going to like it because I was such a fan of the original Jumanji but I was pleasantly surprised how well the film makers made this new movie full of funny moments, great action sequences, and an ensemble cast that had a lot of chemistry together. Lastly it had well done nods to the original Jumanji as well.
Jack black is Bethany. Fun movie and even more fun if you're a gamer

Jumanji 2: Bored Game. They took the original idea and sucked all the charm from it, leaving a film where the game aspect is only cosmetic cover for a run-of-the-mill action movie.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is a tribute to Robin Williams because watching it will make you miss him and his irreplaceable talent all the more.
Still, there was one bright spot. You can play a drinking game where you must drink a shot every time you spot the piercing hole above Karen Gillan's navel. Call it, Drink Like a Hole. It'll help you forget this wasted opportunity.
