K-1 World MAX 2006 World Tournament Open was a qualifying event for the forthcoming K-1 World MAX 2006 World Championship Final, featuring seven elimination fights involving some of the best middleweight kickboxers in the world, with all matches fought under K-1 rules (70 kg/154 lbs). The elimination fighters were chosen due to their involvement in the previous year's final, had qualified via preliminary tournaments or were invited on the basis of their achievements in kickboxing or Muay Thai - more detail on the elimination fighters is provided by the bulleted list below.
