King Solomon's Mines 1985

I'm sorry but this really entertained me. I remember loving this as a child. Rewatching it now and I can see how bad it is but I'm really enjoying it. Though the random rape attempt kinda caught me off guard since the rest of the movie had been quite light hearted. Bit odd.

No matter how you look at it, King Solomon's Mines is not a particularly well-made film. It's extremely dated, even as Canon made Indiana Jones rip-offs goes, and some of the acting is less than stellar, but I have so many childhood memories connected to this, and it's sequel, that I take them out now and then.

And yes... I still kind of like King Solomon's Mines... Even with all its issues.

Amazing that Sharon Stone could ruin a movie, but she managed to make this movie almost unwatchable. Her character is horrendous.

Not that anyone else was all that great, except John Rhys-Davies. Rhys-Davies was actually quite good.

Quartermain is turned into little more than a buffoon.

An incredibly cheesy knockoff of Indiana Jones, King Solomon’s Mines is a poorly made action-comedy that falls flat. Richard Chamberlain stars as adventurer Allan Quatermain, who’s hired by a young woman (played by Sharon Stone) to help her search for her father who went missing while looking for King Solomon’s fabled diamond mines. The acting is horrendous and the special effects are terrible. The only thing that the film has going for it is Jerry Goldsmith’s whimsical score (which is clearly aping the Indian Jones theme). However, it’s not the blatant ripping off of Indian Jones that makes King Solomon’s Mines so appalling…it’s that it does such an awful job at it.
