Kodachrome 2017

Kodachrome is predictable, light and fun. As with many "trip" movies, the fact that you know exactly how it will end doesn't make the journey not worth taking. Sudeikis and Olsen are perfectly fine in this, but Ed Harris belongs in another league and here he shows why one more time with a masterful performance.
Although, again, telegraphed, the poignant moments hit at the right time, and the movie feels sweet and heartfelt.

It won't make anyone's Top 10 lists, but Kodachrome is well worth the film it was shot on. Even if unlike in the movie - thankfully - it won't be the last one.

Wow. I know, people say that movies like this one are very predictable, but why does it still hurt like hell when it reaches the final destination that we've all been anticipating?

Firstly, my emotional self, can't take the credit away from that one. Secondly, a film done right. All the pieces were beautifully assembled together - its highs and lows, heartfelt moments, stunning cinematography (all captured on film, bravo!) and amazing soundtrack. Paired with the great job done by the cast, some shots just felt too real.

And it got me thinking about the world we live in today, with everything going digital... As someone who have lost the entirety of their phone's data twice over a span of five years, I also learned a lot. Oops.

Overall, I'll give it a solid 9. :100: (no emoji for 90, but Kodachrome, I'll let you have it.)

My wife chose this to watch, I was completely indifferent to watching it. However, it was a VERY good movie.

It started off well and just go better and better right to the end. It's not the first time this type of movie has been made, but it's definitely one of the best versions.
It made me stop and think of my relationship with my dad and how time just flies by until it's gone. 9.5/10

Within the first 20 minutes of the film, you already know the arc that all of the characters will follow. What saves Kodachrome is the performances of Jason Sudeikis, Ed Harris, and Elizabeth Olsen. In the hands of lesser actors there's no way this would be as engaging as it was, but they're able to make you connect with these characters despite the plot and character beats that have been done to death. I thought it was a very enjoyable and moving story of a father & son finally understanding one another.

For the first half you don't really like anyone, but that is by design. Over time you start to become invested in the journey. Elizabeth Olsen is gorgeous, and played her role very well. Ed Harris is superb. Worth a watch for sure. Waffled between 6 and 7 and ended really liking how it played out despite being very predictable.

A familiar story, almost as old as Kodak itself, but for those of us of a certain age, it's also sweetly nostalgic and a little sad. Kudos for being shot on Kodak film as well. Damn this modern age and it's digital emphasis!

If you took all the girls I knew when I was single..
And brought them all together for one night..I know they'd never match my sweet imagination..
Everything looks worse in black and white

the predictability of this film may have been what made it hurt more. this is amazing.

MAGNIFICENT!! You'll laugh. You'll cry. A story about making peace with the past. Poetic, excellently directed and acted.

Maybe some of the lower ratings are from it cutting close to "home". Life isn't rolled up into a nice happy ending, but sometimes there's hope and forgiveness.

Elizabeth Olsen putting the needle on the record of Galaxie 500's This is Music album.. my heart did "melt away"......a flurry of nostalgic emotion came over me...an album from my youth.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film.  I thought it really excelled in not making any of the main characters be too heavy-handed.  At times they all played both the instigator and the peacemaker.  Other films would have had Harris' character be far more eccentric.
