This film made stock trading clearer for me than Trading Places, Wall Street or DiCaprio’s vulpine investor. Maybe it’s the pragmatic cockney way Mrs Cragg explains it...?
“Do leave off abaaht your perishin’ revolution!” - the formidable Mrs Cragg when dealing with her junior char ladies
The chaos where the ladies use their wits to frustrate their capitalist oppressors is delightful.
Their peaceful, legal and slightly ludicrous civil disobedience leaves the stupid, greedy, sanctimonious men are floundering. The zombie-like milling of them in their headscarves, housecoats and slippers is brilliant. For a moment I almost felt sorry for Harry H Corbett and his overmatched team.
